DrMacintosh got a reaction from Needfuldoer in After a restart, how to force MS Windows to reopen previously opened applications like on MacOS?
I think your best option is to hibernate your machine. This should dump your memory to disk, which Windows will read back into memory when you boot up.

It will be interesting to see how WiFi 7 changes this, given all bands can dynamically be used and each band can be split into smaller components.

Its not even that simple, as WiFi 6e is tri-band but unless one of those is dedicated to backhaul, you're still sharing one of those bands.  You generally need two 5Ghz radios so you can dedicate one of those to backhaul, as while 6Ghz is more ideal, the shorter range may be a problem in using it for that.

This is why wiring your nodes if possible will always be the best option.

DrMacintosh got a reaction from Issac Zachary in What is the Apple Ecosystem and why do people like it?
    The Apple Ecosystem:
I'm traveling with my laptop and I need another display -> iPad w/ Sidecar lets your Mac use your iPad as an external display. I take a photo with my iPhone -> It shows up on all my devices. I delete a photo on my Mac -> It gets deleted from all my devices. I'm working on my MacBook and get a phone call -> I can answer it on my Mac. I copy some text/a link/a file on my iPhone -> I can paste it on my Mac. I'm listening to Music with AirPods on my iPhone and log into my Mac -> My mac asks if I want to use the AirPods and the connection transfers. I'm wearing an Apple Watch and wake my Mac -> The watch will unlock the Mac for me. I have an email/website/app open on one Apple Device, another Apple Device nearby will suggest that content and open it where I left off. I can wirelessly stream content to my AppleTV/HomePod from anywhere in my home network with two button taps. I can use my iPhone as an AppleTV remote. Standardized MagSafe accessories and cases. iOS, macOS, tvOS, and HomePod can control my HomeKit accessories. Supported HomeKit Routers can secure my HomeKit accessories from communicating outside of my home network. iCloud Keychain (free password manager) Apple Music syncs across all your devices. Including music that you provided. (Its a personal cloud for your ripped music library) iCloud Drive syncs across all your devices. I can upload a .epub file and the Books app will sync that file to all my devices (even if I didn't buy that .epub file from Apple) All Macs, iPads, and iPhones come with a free Office Suite (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers) Preview.app on the Mac has many premium features that Adobe Acrobat charges your first born son for. All for free. The FindMy Network Emergency SOS & Crash detection GPS way points on Apple Watch FaceTime/iMessage AirDrop Apple CarPlay (my 2007 Ford Taurus has a totally modern infotainment system). The list continues, but these are just some of the reasons my personal electronics (outside of my gaming desktop and select accessories) are all Apple Products.

There is not a single device that will suit everything. For me M1 MBA/MBP offers tremendous value.

What is "system latency"? Have you made sure your refresh rate is set properly on your monitors?

Is this a fresh install of Windows? Have you removed your old chipset/graphics drivers? Is your memory set to beyond the base speed?

Thanks for the suggestion. It didnt fix the issue. What I ended up doing is deleting the entire TV library and resetting that up. Once I did that and it started grabbing media and meta data and it seems to be fixed now.  Not sure if it was a database issue or something else.

DrMacintosh reacted to Whatisthis in Need help with PC shutting off (seemingly) during heavy load and can't turn back on unless I fully unplug and wait.
Probably wouldn’t be RAM if you can’t immediately reboot - that’s the PSU throwing a protection circuit. The fact it’s happening under load all but confirms the issue.

To fully confirm, you can run just furmark. It shouldn’t crash with just gpu load. Then run just cinebench. This is purely cpu load. Should be fine again. Now run both at the same time and it should trip the PSU.

Mojave was released in September of 2018. That was 5+ years ago. A Windows 10 build from 5+ years ago would also not support a lot of things.

DrMacintosh got a reaction from jeo in Nvidia Shield Pro vs Apple TV 4k
There is one main reason to get the shield. That is: You have Dolby Vision content in your Plex library.

Otherwise, I don't see a reason to not go with the Apple TV. The performance and software support is unmatched.

Start browsing eBay/FaceBook marketplace for old used laptops. Avoid HDD based boot drives if possible. eBay has useful filter tools. Just set your max price to $400 and start window shopping.

DrMacintosh got a reaction from Donut417 in Apple: Improved account security (FIDO 2FA)? No iTunes for you!
iTunes on Windows is all but deprecated. Apple has had an Apple Music app in development on Windows for a long time now. Still not fully released app. Anyway, you can use the Apple Music website to gain access to your Apple Music library on PC.
