I found it!
4GB of Micron DDR3L uses 288.88mW https://www.micron.com/~/media/documents/products/power-calculator/ddr3l_power_calc.xlsm?la=en
8GB of Micron's DDR4 uses 210.6mW https://www.micron.com/~/media/documents/products/power-calculator/ddr4_power_calc.xlsm
what the actual fuck Apple
Is Micron capable of manufacturing chips that Apple could put on their boards? Because it exists within a power limit does not automatically mean its usable. Building a laptop is not like building a desktop at all.

Wozniak was the real innovator in Apple way back when.
History remembers the winners. Woz was not a winner.

Apparently though, it's not very well liked
Only by the PCMR because "input lag" or "latency" or some other hardly perceptible reason.

$1500 isn't much for someone with a real job. No, it probably doesn't make much sense for a student on a budget, but that isn't the only market for a 13" notebook.
this is true

They could at least reduce the price for this year's model...
That wouldn't be a very capitalist thing to do......

Apple isn't using the latest hardware in their top of the line MacBook? RIPOFFFFFFF
You have to realize that Apple would have had a whole slew of more problems if they waited for the new Intel chips. Its not as easy as dropping a part in and selling it.

Apple's innovation died with Steve.
I would have to agree. Tim Cook is not Steve Jobs, he is there to keep the company going to to rake in the dough. So far he has not failed at that so there is no reason for the board or his investors to get angry at him. Apple is doing business as usual and that may be a bad thing or it may not, but its what is happening and there isnt anything that can change it really.

I know about all of the reliability and the clean look of the OS
but is that really enough to justify for $1500 for a 13" laptop
Yeah, the drive speeds are pure insanity, and the track pad is really nice,
For some those are enough

it is a massive rip off
Hey, if you think that more power to you.

really does not matter as much as anyone would have you believe. just dont get 1333 and you wont notice anything.

the 13" models are targeted to idiot consumers who have no idea what they're buying.
I would not put it that far. I love PCs and Windows, but there is no way I would make a Windows machine my laptop.
Some people just want MacOS and some like the reliability of MacOS (also having an iPhone is certainly incentive to go Mac)

Except now they have some dodgy proprietary SSD connector. So that really just narrows it down to the Wifi card. Also, they could just solder more onto the board and have a slightly larger battery (maybe 5-10mm in all directions).
MacBook Battery cells are small individual units. Spacing doesnt work the way you think it does in the MacBook Pro

Don't buy MacBookPro if you are a Pro?
Don't buy a 13" MacBook Pro if you are a "pro", get the 15"
If you actually look at it the 13" is targeted towards students. This is why it only has dual core i5s and 8GB RAM base with Intel Iris Graphics
The 15" is where stuff starts getting real with more I/0 Radeon Pro 460 dGPUs, and 16GB of RAM.

Like, 3mm at most... But anything Apple must be thin enough to accidentally bend and make you scare the shirt out yourself.
The computer is not designed to be user accessible. Really the only thing you can do in a Mac is remove the SSD (and upgrade it) and Wifi card.

if they just used SODIMMs, it'd make them much better.
Then you would have to make them accessible and that would add bulk.

This makes a lot of sense. They did not want to compromise on their awesome battery life and to do that they had to cut back on the RAM a bit.
Look at it this way, if you are a pro, and need more than 16GB of RAM to edit video, consider not buying a MacBook Pro?
Don't want adapters? Don't buy a MacBook Pro.
I love Apple, but I notice that the people that bash them the most are the ones that never have/intend to use/buy any of Apples products

yes
For example, I got the H55 and all I had to do was mount it to me CPU.

define cheap

You would have to track down the ribbon cable. I dont know what the market it like for that laptop but If it was anywhere near popular you might find one on eBay or something
