  1. This was leaked in macOS Catalina code first. I think the plan is that Apple will announce new 13” MacBook Pros and Mac Mini with Ryzen APUs in March to show off to other OEMs how viable the new 4000 series parts are and other OEMs will follow Apple (like they always do).
  2. 160F is only like 71C which is chilly for any laptop under any load. (Being plugged causes a lot of heat production)
  3. Basically none. Because that’s no longer a concern. Most ultrabooks use 15W processors and integrated graphics. You don’t need significant amounts of cooling for those.
  4. Might want to log into the router and do a network map cleanup and reset the iPhone network settings.
  5. For anyone who has GeForce Now, is Star Trek Online available on it?
  6. Have you had any experience with the regular AirPods? They are relatively water resistant and won't have issues being used in the rain. You can use EarPods as an analog for how regular AirPods fit, but not for how they stay in your ear. That's one point where the AirPods Pro are very good at, they won't fall out.
  7. Oh! And another thing, we got the 92 Cadillac up and running again. Replaced the radiator hose and charged up its battery. We also found the hub cap locks so we should be able to put those back on and really improve the look. All that is left is to find a grille, replace all the Window motors, and fix the AC.

  8. Also, forgot to mention, the gf and I are back together :3

(that's why I changed the profile picture back)

We’re going to dinner. She actually hates Valentine’s Day because it’s a Hallmark holiday fabricated by corporations :P

      Like every other food holiday.

Also, apples get 3 fucking months...

    4. Pascal...
  9. I'm extremely hyped for potential Ryzen APU 13" MacBooks, but as I sit back and reflect on what I actually need out of my MacBook Pro....I realize that those needs are currently satisfied by my current 2C/4T model with b*tch tier Iris Pro graphics.

World of Warships and Star Trek Online are playable (but not pretty) with settings and resolution cranked down, Visual Studio has no problems compiling my code, I haven't run out of RAM yet even when using 6 virtual desktops and many chrome tabs, I like the way the keyboard feels even though it's not a reliable design, and I don't think I'll ever be hit with Flexgate.

I kinda just want to ride this thing out until it dies or it becomes limiting.

Also not having to worry about a T2 chip is nice.

  10. You've completely missed the context in which the term "UI" was used.
  11. Microsoft has been basing their UI off of macOS and iOS for years now.
  12. It depends on the operating system you are using, but for iOS for example, 2GB is all you actually need. 3 or 4GB is really only useful for Camera features that require storing lots of pictures to be processed instantly. The OS is actually capped at using 3GB for iPhone despite some iPhone models actually having 4GB (iirc)
  13. Waiting to see what’s going on with the rumored chips coming with the 2020 refresh of Macs. Power efficient-high core count 4th gen Ryzen APUs. Might put these rinky-dink Nvidia GPUs out of a job.
  14. The only possible way to find it is to log in with the AppleID that downloaded it and find it in your purchases. You will probably need a 32bit device in order to play it.
  15. Fuck me, Better Call Saul Season 4 is amazing. I'm only two episodes in and it's got me like a deer in headlights.

Shit it took Netflix so long to get season 4 I'm going to have to rewatch the first 3 seasons again just to remember what was going on xD

Just finished Bojack.... I'm not ready for a new show, still in mourning....

    RX590

The RX 590 will struggle with 1440p 144Hz. Essentially only really old MMOs could maybe hit that. I have an RX 5700 with a 1440 144Hz monitor and it can struggle to go above 90fps sometimes.
  17. The A13 Bionic is essentially superior in every metric that matters. It’s voltage gated to hell and back so it’s super power efficient, has a beast mode GPU, and really strong single and multicore performance. If I’m not mistaken, the A13 Bionic should beat the 855 in basically every benchmark.
  18. And now for Mr. Conway Twitty:

  19. 1440p 144hz all the way. The resolution is worth so much more than the extra refresh rate. I doubt you would notice the difference tbh.
  20. What I'd like to see in 2020 from Apple.

    • 13" MBP with a Ryzen APU
    • Mac mini with a Ryzen APU or RX 5500 (or better) Graphics
    • iMac redesign with Navi graphics
    • Mac Pro switching to EPYC
    • A consumer Mac tower with up to Threadripper CPUs

Catalina code suggests the first two might be possible. The iMac has been due for a design for like 8 years. Doubt we will see a consumer tower from Apple ever again though.

      PacketMan

I liked the MacBook 12, would have loved to see one with a nice Ryzen APU (powerful enough for 4K HDR movies and, of course, with the option for a nice 4K display) and good port selection

I think the 12” MacBook is a candidate for ARM

  21. I don't know if they could. Intel still has the lead for high core count mobile chips.
  22. The 13" MBP would benefit a lot from a Ryzen Mobile APU. Though I don't think Apple would be too thrilled with having AMD chips for the 13" models and Intel chips for the 16" models.
  23. Looks like things with me and the GF are over. She improved on her communication and I have full closure. It’s unfortunate that things came to this, and that I wasn’t able to give her the answers she wanted on the spot about my feelings towards her.

The reasons are there, she doesn’t doesn’t want to hear them anymore.

It was great while it lasted, but now that it seems over, I‘m thankful I have closure and that I can take this on the chin and not feel extremely torn up about it. At least I’m functional and not an emotional wreck.

On the bright side, I might actually have an ex now. Though I suppose not having exes already is what caused this to happen. Meh. Live and let live.
