Why is Resolve free again? I mean who gives away an NLE for free? How does BlackMagic justify giving away a free video editor?

@Ashley xD iMovie is actually a pretty shit editor. If all you need are basics cuts and adding transitions/audio its fine. But you don't even get multiple video tracks.....not even just 2.

Oh it's fine what what I want a video editor to do too, lol. I just wanted a video editor of some sort on my PC. Because my MacBook Pro is on loan to my gf I can't edit video, now I can since I have Resolve.

Resolve is free but a lot of the functionality you would end up using for more moderate to advanced work is paid. But $299 for a static license is a no brainer when considering Adobe CC DogShit Inc. pricing breakdown

@BuckGup not compared to Final Cut Pro... iirc. like if you're on a Mac there is no reason to get Resolve.

Well yeah but Final Cut has the Apple Tax slapped on it. I would pick Final Cut over anything. Motion lacks a ton compared to AE though

@BuckGup how expensive is it compared to Resolve?

Final cut is $299 but when bundled in the education pack it's $199

Correct but you need an Apple computer which will cost you a pretty penny

any computer powerful enough to warrant the use of $200+ software for editing will cost a lot lol

Yes but you can get similar performance in Premiere as in Final Cut with a computer 1/3rd the price
