So I finally updated my Mac to macOS 10.15.1 and AirPods controls finally work properly. In 10.15.0 nothing really worked other than the mics and audio out.

Catalina is a bit of a mess tbh. Better than Windows 10 though, that's for sure ?

Still on Mojave myself.  I'll give it a few months for Mr. Cook's pesticide to kill them bugs...

Mojave was solid. If you need 32Bit app support, I don't see any real reason to update.

I just like to stay on the current OS if at all convenient.

No I agree usually.  With windows I pretty much always upgrade right away, except for BIG updates.

    MacOS, i usually wait.

Then again mine is a Hack, so...

Why did it take this long, AirPods have been out for what, like at least a year now or more?

They worked before @Ryan_Vickers. Idk why you assumed that their features didn't work in any previous version of macOS. It's just Catalina 10.15.0 that broke them.

Oh I see.  I'm not sure if that's better or worse tbh

Well recall that they completely removed iTunes and replaced it with Music.app. This caused some conflicts with audio libraries and introduced some related bugs.

Oh yeah I had heard whispers of that but never really looked into it.  Seemed like a crazy change to me, how has that gone?  What's new or missing?

Basically nothing changed, its just that iTunes was re-writen and features were split up into different apps rather than 1 single app. The sync features now live in Finder.

Interesting, sounds like a good improvement
