I'm very confused by Office 365. I get a free student account from my CC. I have the latest 2019 versions of the apps installed on my Mac, yet on both my Desktop and my Bootcamp install on my MBP, Office 365 installed the 2016 versions of the apps.

It's not that I need office, I really don't, I believe iWork is a better office suite, but I need something that can work offline in Bootcamp and on my home PC. It's just so weird that the app versions are not consistent cross platform.

Since they started the 365 nonsense it has been a mess.  At one point I had like 30 users all being managed on a spreadsheet with activation codes logged on it because my company wouldn't spend the money to get a real business account, and 365 was a monthly cost they could amortize month to month.

That said, Office should be able to take a 2016 doc, upgrade and open on 2019, and then downgrade back to 2016 again without too much drama.  Whether that means they are ripping people off for the same software every 3 years, or it is just well optimized between verison, I don't know.

Maybe those 2016 versions are more compatible with your other computers.

Office 2003 for is still the best version of Office. None of this subscription based nonsense

@RoseLuck462 I mean, there are only two. The difference between one of them and itself is the OS. macOS installed the 2019 version, Windows installed on the same machine installed 2016.
