Holy crap, I got my revised Financial Aid Reward letter. I’m getting 8.3K this year ? $4.15K/ semester.

I still have $3K left over from my first 2 semesters.

This is from the Pell Grant btw, and a California specific grant.

Cries in State University. That’s why I’m going to community. My tuition was $40 for this upcoming semester after a grant kicked in.

It’s not really a scholarship. It’s a program for community colleges where if you make under a certain amount of money in your household, your tuition gets waved and all you have to pay are small fees here and there.

College is way too expensive for what it is these days.

If I was going to a UC or a CSU, there is absolutely no program that will cover your tuition. Community Colleges cost fractions of state schools across the board.

Just remember, no one cares where you got your schooling from when you apply for the average job

Pell Grant is very flawed in its design, as if you happen to fall between the cracks you often get denied. This semesters pell grant polls 2017 taxes, which is insane in it's own right. I've been screwed by this, because I'm a dependent of my parents and fall under their taxes, I was denied due to my fathers disabling car accident settling in 2017 (large untaxed income, greatly inflated the estimated contribution to a level over half of what we actually take in as a family). They require another form to conciser you again, which will not be heard until September First. My semester starts August 18th.

    Sigh...

Pardon the small rant, but im very happy for you to have gotten your pell grant! I just wish it was a better working system.

Lol, if anything I’ll save up for a 15” 10th Gen MBP

Yeah @SenKa the 2017 taxes actually saved me in my case. My parents are separated but my mom was claiming me as a dependent since she made less money than my dad which ended up qualifying me for the grant.

@SenKa This is why I believe that if you're a tax paying citizen, you should be given education for free. No more bullshit about what you make or don't make. Whether you're rich or poor, you should have the right to join the workforce on equal footing.

You want McDonald's to have a lower minimum wage? Let's give those adults an education, so they can join the educated workforce.

    Spoiler

Fix the problem, not the symptoms.
