My router has a stroke almost daily now. Speeds go from 120mbps down to 30 or as low as 5mbps....I have to restart the damn thing just to get the speeds back where they should be. 

 

Thankfully there is a wireless management portal where I can send the restart command without having to actually get up and pull the plug.

    Sounds like there's some kind of hardware issue with it.

    Maybe. We should have just bought an AirPort Extreme.

    You might want to physically check the router. You never know if one end keeps sending a faulty signal when it isn't needed.

    @TheGlenlivet I wanted to get an AirPort extreme, but they were too expensive and I thought this router would be good. It was a lie. I should have bought an AirPort.

    I've had the same one for about 5 years now.  If you can find a cheap one, even used I'd check it out.

    Hmm, seems like they are around $60 used on eBay.

    I'm pretty sure the original HDD is still in there making images of the one IMAC in the house when it is turned on.  Thing is a tank...
