Opinion needed, Reference RX 480 4GB for $98.95? I would be putting it inside a Razer CoreX.

    Considering what's in a MacBook, I would say it's a great choice.

CoreX is $100 from a local guy on LetGo @floofer

I would say no. The reference is really loud, I would spend the extra $20 or so to get a better quieter cooler.

Maybe I like the fan noise?

Having plenty of experience with cheap RX cards (I think I've bought 4, all of varying spec), it's worth it to jump to a 580 8 gig, if you really dont care about the cooler they're less than $30 more on ebay, and that's actually a half decent spec cooler.

Why would there be an increase in performance by jumping to the 8GB model? Aside from obviously being able to store more data in VRAM.

Exactly. If I were you, I would just make the jump because it costs a minimal amount extra, and will help down the line, but if you don't want to, then the 4 gig 480 is still a good choice.

I think I might go with the reference tbh. $10 is lunch.
