Apple should double down on this type of advertising

Privacy on iOS devices is actually a big differentiator.

I think it only works on the people that give a shit, since most don't, and the ones that really care are running some 2007 android phone with lineage flashed onto it, with everything disabled or something

kinda sounds like the apple-android migration process

Very few Apple users move to Android, a very healthy amount switch over from Android though.

yeah, disagree on that one... you don't know how many headaches I've had from doing it many times and never fully succeeding. I've seen many people just be fully done with iPhones in general, because of various reasons

pretty much everyone around my area is done with android because of the disposable nature, the only ones that have it are the ones that are able to get a new phone every 1-2 years.

    ?‍♂️

Sales may have slumped this quarter, but what the media doesn’t talk about is how there are  more concurrent iPhone owners than ever.

@themctipers Still loving my iPhone 6s Plus from 2015

Just as fast as the day I got it

  8. themctipers

    themctipers

still enjoying my 6s+ from 2015

not as fast as I got it, not as nice as I want it, better than a note 5 in 2019, that's the part that gets me ;)

    note 5:

    - better camera (personal opinion)

    - better display (I notice it when my nose is poking the display(

    - s pen is nice

    - glass back is sexy

    6s:

    - won't have to replace after 2 years with another throwaway phone due to touchjizz, nand dying, oled burn in, battery being fucking annoying to replace because both sides are glass, no cracked back glass to replace

android is always better than iOS when it's a new phone, but after a couple of months to years, not at all.

@themctipers no not really. android phones have slower cpu's in them afaik....

@firelighter487 with about half the size...

I find that they're smooth for the first couple of months then they get slower @firelighter487, at least with my note 5 and nexus 5

my 6s has stayed the same in speed as long as it was kept on the same OS version with the same tweaks (haven't ran stock iOS for more than a couple of weeks since iOS 9.3.2)

@themctipers i've got an iPhone 7 128gb, and tbh you should try iOS 12. it's improved it noticably over iOS 11. i don't notice it anymore because i'm used to it now but when i first updated it i noticed it.

  16. DrMacintosh

    DrMacintosh

Yeah, iOS 12 really spruced up my 6s Plus. Was getting a little clunky in some spots but now the RAM management is a lot better I i hardly get stutters.

  17. themctipers

I'm on 10.3.3, and happy (jailbroken). :) iOS 11 is disgusting, and I am glad I've only experienced that hell for 1 week.

as long as my animations are smooth 60fps, the unlocking is faster than I take to register that my finger has pressed the home button, and I can keep discord, youtube, and safari loaded in RAM, I won't be updating.. unless something like heartbleed comes.

  18. Ashley MLP Fangirl

    Ashley MLP Fangirl

i didn't really get stutters before (i only use it for spotify and general phone stuff like texting and scrolling twitter) but things just open faster. i never have to pause to wait for it to load an app.

  19. Ashley MLP Fangirl

    Ashley MLP Fangirl

@themctipers iOS 11 was fine for me... just kinda sluggish with opening apps...

  20. themctipers

    themctipers

the only stutters I get is when I unlock my phone after like, 12 hours (have to use password instead of TouchID, however long that is)

@firelighter487 we do NOT talk about iOS 11, user of iOS 11.0.1..

  21. Ashley MLP Fangirl

    Ashley MLP Fangirl

@themctipers i dunno what version i used... i bought my iPhone in july 2018 i think so whatever was the latest and i've always updated it as soon as updates came out as i've owned it since.

  22. themctipers

    themctipers

that was released in september 2017, iOS 11.3 is actually usable.

    I still won't be using iOS 11 ever :) they don't sign iOS 11.x anymore for A9
