I get the idea of wanting to bring manufacturing jobs back to America. People should want Americans to be employed and working, but at the same time Americans would be unable to afford anything made in their own country. Most Americans are poor and struggle to afford even cheap imported products. How tf would they get buy if everything costs 1/3 more because it says “made in America” on it? Even if we raised the minimum wage to $15/h that would still leave so many people absolutely knackered. The minimum wage is supposed to be something like $22/h if wages kept up with inflation and productivity.
The day for America to compete with China in a manufacturing sense is over. Its just never going to happen given the work standards and pay demanded by American workers. A developed nation cannot compete with a nation who essentially gives 0 shits about it’s working class.
Stop trying to make shit more expensive because your feelings want a “made in America sticker” slapped on everything you buy.

It's not really more expensive. Some of these companies are making exorbitant amounts of profit by taking advantage of lower international wages. None of that profit goes to the workers or federal taxes. There's a cost for everything and, unless we're making universal income a thing, this is a price that the people should be willing to pay. Same with universal health-care, plenty of other countries and markets can make it happen, but an individual's paycheck is more important over never overpaying for a damn emergency room visit.
America's job market is only going to decline if education and availability go down as they are debt-ridden and outsourced.

@ARikozuM The only thing I'm talking about is manufacturing, nothing else. Including those other things would require a lot more time than what I put into making that little blurb.
If Americans want manufacture jobs in American than every company has to be willing to pay more in wages to offset the cost increase of their products being made in America. The only way they can do that is to take a dip in profitability, which, given the option, means that many companies would rather pick up and go to a different country because it would be cheaper.
America is too corporatist for any laws that could be conceivably passed to prevent the above from happening would all die in the Senate unless 51 Senators can all be replaced with progressive candidates, which probably isn't going to happen any time soon.

Well, the Mac Pro 2013 chassis was made in America although that didn't turn out too well being overpriced and non-upgradable .
