This is actually pretty cool. I'm a big fan of Ansel and games that have built in photomode. Ansel finally having dept of field options is rad.

Consoles were never meant to be compared to PCs.  They're intended for a different audience so go ahead and make biased comparisons.  That's great you prefer PC but it doesn't diminish PCs to not be a jerk about consoles.  So try that instead of shooting your mouth off.  Swearing is a sign of a weak argument.  If you had valid defensible points to make then you wouldn't be swearing and using petty insults.

So what if PCs are more powerful?  Does it affect the fun console users have?  No it doesn't.  There's plenty of PCs more powerful than yours or mine but you don't see me insulting other PCs or consoles just to be a jerk or make myself feel good or whatever reason is causing you to be so hostile.

    Because its a non issue.

    A) They don't control the Internet, they control the designation of IP addresses
    B) ICANN have already had effective control for a long time, this only makes it official
    C) Trump hasn't got a clue what he is talking about
    D) Why is it OK for America to "control the Internet" but not anybody else?

It might be that the mainstream media don't discuss this, but we have discussed this to death and to hell and back.
ICANN has never and will never be able to control the internet or the content on the internet. It only designates IP-addresses.
The fear of censorship is completly unfounded and serves as nothing more than fear mongering.

This is a Lenovo thing. There is no other computer being sold at the MS Store that doesn't allow the installation of alternative OSes; you can install Linux on the Surface Pro 4, Microsoft's flagship computer, ffs. Apparently it's related to the custom NVMe drive in the Yoga 900, which no OS natively supports and requires a custom driver to be used, even on Windows.

But let's direct our anger at Microsoft because this is clearly their fault and it can't be the fault of Lenovo at all, even though it's pretty well-known that Lenovo is no stranger to this kind of fuckery on their consumer models.

sannukas0016 reacted to 2FA in Trump: Internet control belongs to US. Period
I'm American and I have zero issues with this action. The Internet isn't centrally controlled or even centrally monitored, it is a literal web of interconnected routers so I'm not sure why people think IANA has all of this supposed power. All they do is keep a log of domain names and their owners, assign IPs to ISPs, and assign the usage of ports 0-1023 (Well-Known Ports) to protocols. None of that actually impacts the flow of information across the Internet.

That is absolutely not how DNS works in the slightest. The only DNS servers that it can manipulate are its own which is in actuality is very low number. DNS servers do not go to the IANA and ICANN to synchronize, they synchronize with all of the other DNS servers across the web.

The US funds IANA because it is in charge of our numbers, Russia and China give funding to ICANN because it is in charge of their numbers, there is no difference. We will likely start funding ICANN as well when IANA is transferred over.

Please for the love of god stop acting like there are central authorities where data has to pass through. That is absolutely not the case and you are absorbing so much nationalist propaganda. You name Russia and China but what about France and Great Britain. They also have oversight on ICANN. They are also major powers in the UN and are both permanent members of the Security Council. Stop acting like the UN is ran by China and Russia exclusively because it isn't. Also, stop with the self-righteous American attitude, it embarrasses the rest of us Americans. America is not innocent when it comes to manipulation.

I don't know what saddens me the most. That a tech centered forum knows so little about basic stuff, or that so many people just agrees/disagrees with someone just because it was said by person X or Y.

Ads are a real business model. They have been for literally thousands of years. Ads are what keeps the Internet free.

I for one, don't want to deal with individual payment subscriptions for every single website I visit, or every single service I use.

Ads aren't the problem. Bad ads are the problem. We need standardization. We also need a vetting process, where ads are verified to be consumer friendly. We need legislation to back this up with consequences.

You might be comfortable with paying to use Google, and YouTube, and Facebook, and LTT forums, and whatever other websites you use, but most people aren't.

And how would that system work? How the hell would your ISP decide who gets paid, and how much you get charged for it? That puts way too much power in the hands of ISP's, who are already by-and-large too greedy (Especially here in North America).

How do they decide how much each site is worth? Do they charge you the same every month, or does it vary based on usage?

You're talking about a system that is fundamentally much more complex and intensive to run.

Ads work. If they didn't, companies like Coca-Cola and Apple wouldn't spend so much advertising. You might not buy things based on ads specifically, but they're not counting on every person going out and buying. They only need 1 in a hundred, or 1 in a thousand, to go out and buy the product.

That's not at all what's happening here. The internet is something that doesn't and shouldn't belong to one country.
