Overclocking my i5 3570K?
GatherMyCoal replied to GatherMyCoal's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
My apolagies, my mobo is a Z77 Extreme 4. I appreciate the info on this topic, and will be purchasing a reliable PSU almost imminently to ensure safe power as I am quite sure that this may be the source of my problem. -
Hey guys, I have recently purchased some new additions to my build and am now running a Corsair H50 series water cooler on my i5 3570K. So this gave me the perfect opportunity to get the most out of my CPU and try to overclock it, however for some unusual reason it doesent seem to like it when I boost the clock to 4000 instead of the stock 3500. Basically, I'm just looking for possible reasons as to why I am unable to boost the clock speed of my CPU. Anyone know why this could be? My specs are listed below CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K Processor RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 CPU Cooler: Corsair H50 Series Liquid Cooler Motherboard: ASrock Z97 Extreme 4 HDD: 1TB Western Digital Hard Drive SSD: 120GB Samsung 850 EVO GPU: Dual SLI ASUS 660Ti Graphics Card's Case: NZXT Noctis 450 PSU: Unbranded 1100W ( I know... Very risky). <--- Could this be the reason for crashing at 4.0GHz?? If I am missing anything important please let me know. Thanks for reading.

I am seeing a lot of performance differences and basically I was wondering is the 780Ti better than the 980? Because after watching Linus's video I am really unsure of what to think? I am currently in a problem where I have dual SLI configured GTX 660 Ti's but it is not performing to standard. Thanks

Hello everyone, Recently I have been lucky enough to get a second Nvidia GeForce 660Ti GPU so I am now running dual SLI configured cards. And my CPU is an i5 3570k which is now watercooled and overclocked to 4.0GHz, and yet I am still only managing around 50 fps in games like Skyrim and Battlefield 4. But that isnt the main problem, suddenly my games will stutter for a breif moment when a new element of story is introduced, and my framerate will drop from average 60fps to 30 and sometimes lower? I am just wondering if there is any reason that this would be happening? Is it my Hardware that needs updating or possible drivers e.c.t Thank you for reading.

Any PSU suggestions? I was going to go for a Corsair 500M or maybe 600 but I got told otherwise from another user.- 18 replies

Thanks man, I'll look into some different PSU's now, anything else you would change within my price range? And should I change my case or is that not worth it?- 18 replies

Hey Guys, I've been meaning to upgrade my pc for a while just so it can take that step from good to insane really. The hardware I am running now is decent but nothing more in my opinion and I was wondering if you could help me decide on some new parts to save up for. I will list my current build below: CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K. (running the stock cooler too, tempted for water cooling unit) RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance. MOBO: ASrock z77 extreme4 (Need to change this in my opinion). GPU: ASUS Nvidia 660Ti 2GB. HDD: 1TB Western Digital. SSD: 120GB Samsung EVO. PSU: Unbranded (I know... very bad). CASE: Cooler Master HAF 912 Not sure if I have missed anything out, but if I have be sure to let me know. So yeah, from what you can see above I have a standard build but after recently buying Arma 3 and Assassins Creed: Syndicate and other games that demand high specs, I have come to realize that some parts of the pc will need to be upgraded in order to play these games on high settings. The build that I have created for myself which may need some tweaks is listed below: CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (Overclock Maybe)?? CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (Could someone tell me if water cooling is worth the $$$)?? MOBO: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card PSU: Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 (White) - This is not going towards the total, just need to know if it's a better case than the HAF 912. Total: £680.28 or $969.47 Any feedback is much appreciated and would help me towards deciding whether to do this or not. Thanks, Jack.
