First impressions?
Wow, it's fucking amazing, and that's putting it so lightly.
Been able to do a lot of heavy editing work, some research work, and casual chatting on Discord, without needing to bring a charger at all. Launch-build Ventura might've neutered the potential battery-life a bit, but the fact that I can do all my heavy photo work at full-speed without needing a charger AND that it lasts several hours doing so...
....I am absolutely sold....again.

The best part is when it can outpace my desktop in the tasks that I do.
On battery. With no fan noise.

Great machine. I have qualms about ditching x86, specifically because Bootcamp on my 2019 16” lets me play world of warships when I travel. But it’s certainly in the top 3 of machines to get once my 2019 dies.
By that time, perhaps the M2 or even M3 refresh might be a thing.
I did actually plan on waiting for the M2 Max refresh, but once I had heard that it was likely delayed until March 2023, I pulled the trigger on the current model.
It's still hellishly quick, so I don't have regrets.

Before trying them, I was set on the 14" MacBook Pro. After trying them, the 16" is starting to win me over...

It's not just the size. Having that 99Whr battery plus the better speakers that come with its increased chamber size alongside improved thermals especially on M1 Max is hugely tempting.
I thought that both the 14" and 16" had the same or an almost identical cooling solution.

"People can wait 6-8 months for a GPU/console but they can't wait 3-5 weeks for an iPhone? Sounds like BS to me"
Except, maybe not. The average smartphones buyer isn't nearly as dedicated as someone buying a brand new console or GPU. Anything over a few weeks wait time is enough to turn them away entirely.
Not to mention that your average smartphone is on a 12 month lifecycle, while your average GPU is on a 24 month lifecycle and your average gaming console is on a 7 year one.
