So I can shit on Google for releasing a phone with several defects but I can't do the same when a manufacturing process allowed some iPad Pros to arrive to its customer in a bent state?
Guys, let's be reasonable here. This isn't born out of "Muh Apple H8torate huerrrr" at least in many cases. It's just a simple demand for accountability and a better product at the end. If we can shit on Google for lapses in QC, why can't we do the same for other companies like Samsung or Apple?
-
JerryRig's test made the defect to obvious and he didn't really appear to put much effort there. Especially considering that the wide grip made his force even less than on a phone.
No hate needed, it's a serious planning and engineering fail.
-
the problem is there are a bunch of people who just hate on apple for fun, so when we come with legitimate arguments and concerns, it's just part of the larger apple is stupid and pisses off the people who legitimately use and enjoy their products and have to listen to the stupidity all day long...
-
I think the actual problem is that there is no "middle ground" to speak. There are only two extremes and anyone on said middle ground is interpreted as being in one of the two extremes.
-
@Jtalk4456 as an Apple user I can completely relate to that statement.
-
And that ruffles my feathers.
-
@D13H4RD it gets to the point where my teachers won't help me with an issue because I have a Mac. this apple hating isn't just online. using a Mac can have real-world consequences if your teacher happens to be a Microsoft fanboy.
-
@firelighter487 Does it really make them a "Microsoft fanboy"? Thats how most classes are though, you use a Windows PC or a Mac and makes it easier for the teacher to help you not having to deal with 2 different OS's.
@FIXXX Not so much it bending easily, but i'd agree with that since Apple sells the tablet as being able to replace your computer, but for some reason we can't criticize a serious design flaw. People on the other extreme are defending Apple for being anti-consumer while pointing at other companies and that bothers me just as much as some saying "Apple is stupid" without saying why they think so.
-
@Blademaster91 the issues I had were not related to the OS I used. they just blame my Mac for everything. it's gotten to the point where I just dual-booted it with Windows just so they will help me.
-
like I said the problems didn't have to do with the OS. they had to do with virtualbox and other software.
-
@firelighter487you'ld think. but to them - the programs may be the same, but the OS they run on - is unfamiliar.
-
thats kinda dumb then,IMO the teacher should have a basic understanding of both if you're running the same program.
-
@Blademaster91 i wasn't using the same program as the others, but virtualbox has the same function. the actual issue that time had to do with a network monitoring tool we were forced to use and that didn't work properly. i then tried wireshark as a troubleshooting step and that was fine. so all along it was the stupid software he forced us to use. not my Mac or virtualbox.
-
I'm, uh, a little surprised that no one was jacking you off for getting on Apple for the iPad Pros coming bent.
Or is it the Apple enthusiasts harping on you because "you don't understand WHY they're doing it"?
-
i can agree that iPad's coming bent out of the box is bad... that's sorta common sense.
-
It's more to do in how some people don't get it.
An iPad arriving in a bent state right out of the box is unacceptable, especially for such an expensive device. Apple's official response is, to put it politely, inappropriate. No, it's not at all "normal".
-
Oh, I know exactly who you're talking about.
-
Just so you know, one of the very reasons for why I own so many computers is because of the rampant fanboism that I saw going through grade school and even parts of college (also during some of my grade school years). Should have seen the BS I went through with college CompSci classes (even without OS favouritism) -
- pls use Pycharm for this 3.2 semester (I used Notepad++ and replit 2.7 online instead)
- use Eclipse Mars/Luna for this Java class (shortly after which it corrupted one of my projects right before the deadline - switched to Netbeans thereafter)
- pls put ur finalised Java code in a word document, with syntax highlighted and proof of functionality (I sent the zip archive anyway - test it yourself )
When I finally got to my first C/C++ and Linux classes, the shenanigans ended And I passed those classes with no issues!
-
yeah it's bad. I kinda think that teachers do that because they don't wanna put effort into helping people so they just tell you to use the program they know.
I could be wrong there but that's my guess...
-
Honestly, I've gotten sick and tired of brand fanboyism.
I do want to own a pretty diverse collection of computers, and that's largely down to my curiosity. I've never owned an Nvidia card that I could play around with (truthfully, I want to purchase a 960 and see how that holds up) nor an Intel CPU I could just sit down and mess with, and it's something I'd love to do, with both of my computers being fully AMD.
-
@handymanshandle don't get a 960. get something slightly older like a 780Ti. cheaper and performs better.
-
Gotta hope that nVIDIA keeps updating Kepler if you buy a 700 Series card. They killed off Fermi a few months ago - the arch that preceded it.
-
I'm still rocking a GTX 690 so... I do also have a 780Ti but the 690 is way more interesting
