  1. Based on this, answering your title I would say no it did not.
  2. Maybe provide some context as to why you feel it is lacking something? Evoking discussion is great and all but if there is no foundation or reason behind the question, it bears to mind the agenda or premise for the question asked. The forum in its current form is the culmination of the last 10+ years of changes, improvements by necessity and of course community feedback. FYI we have a forum suggestions section specifically available if you have specific feedback to provide. https://linustechtips.com/forum/81-forum-suggestions/

    Status Update

Is this a South Park reference?
  7. No waiting for the one I sent. Nope, do go on.
  8. As a parent myself I see roblox as inappropriate for minors. Plenty of information to back this up with a quick search, it's not allowed and I have given my children my reasoning why instead of just giving a my way or highway approach. But to the point and again as a dad, your asking the right question but in the wrong way. It's not a matter of getting them to stop playing a game because you won't play it, it is amatter of introducing something you want to share with them that they will be willing to participate with you. Stop thinking about your wants but what they are willing to accept about you and what your sharing. Sorry but it seems to me you're looking at this from a me perspective instead a them perspective. 2cents
  9. I'm still waiting for my check to clear. Geeez Mortis why is it taking so long?!?
  10. -= Locked =- Thanks for asking but as mentioned Anthony/Emily is taking a break. As this happens to be sensitive topic it will remain locked as other previous threads.
  11. Banned for not enough beard. Post ban for attempting to steal my moniker.
  12. Banned for being average.
  13. That never happens. Parents will always parent. Even at my age they are still teaching me how to treat my children and how to be a good dad. Nothing bad on me but I have to learn from someone. I should point out my latest status update seems to apply here fairly well. https://linustechtips.com/status/342314/
  14. Things are not the same very true. But I will tell you as a parent myself you see the world from a limited stand point. You will understand this once you become a parent yourself. An old but very valid saying. The more things changen the more it stays the same. -= Topic moved to Off-topic =-
  15. I made an edit before your reply... I forget sometimes about the mobile phone regression of our youth. Thankfully, I make sure to balance my children into some common [not so anymore] sense.

I use Edge as my browser on android. It has adb…

you can disable it. *edit. go to settings> apps > chrome ... select disable at the bottom. see my screen shot. I have a note20.
  17. It seems to me you already have your basic curriculum requirements already made out. I would use this as an introduction to any course you teach, this way it will somewhat help. As an example, my own children, I don't show them anything I make them learn it on their own by providing them with the how to look it up on their own, teaches both self-worth and critical thinking skills, there are some exceptions of course. Can't fix stupid but you can teach it out of them. Surprising how quicky they will pick it up if you give them the tools to teach themselves. I can understand a certain level of regression, not withstanding the stupidity due to tiktok and twitter culture. *edit: I stand corrected. You are correct, with the mobile phone singular thought of todays gen, pcs are not a firsthand knowledge anymore. <self eye roll>
  18. I know better than you think but it seems you're not giving your students a decent amount of credit. I was in 5th grade back in '91, built my first pc in '95 with my own money. Started learning pcs on a 386sx.... using DOS.
  19. Are you buying or selling? The best way to determine the price is how much was it when new? then multiply by 0.85 each time a year passes. Example 1000 x 0.85 = 850, 800 x 0.85= 680 ect....
  20. You only think its dated. I have a I7-4790K with a GTX1080 and run Star Citizen on it with 3 1440 monitors. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Sansvarnic/saved/q9vG3C But yeah I under your thought process though.
  21. In older machines.. pre-1995 you had to turn the psu. but today just leave it on unless there is reason to do so, thermal shock is a thing and can damage a psu over time.
