Part of it is clearly the cooler design. But "bad thermals" for this case just means it runs roughly 5 degrees cooler without the front panel at the same fan speeds.

I run the exact specs, three 140mm silent wings in the front and one in the back, only difference is I only run a dark rock 4 on a 3600. temps are in the high 60s for everything, and thats without even turning the fans above 800rpm. Dont do the 3 in the top, they have no room to breathe anyways.

Temps are usually around 40C. Thanks for the info! Seems to be a consensus that the disk usage shouldn't be at 100%.

What temps does HWinfo or Crystal Disk Info report? But any ssd should be plenty fast to run windows and install games without locking up

How the frick did anyone think this is a good idea to link a cloud service with the access to the locally stored data?
    How stupid is that?
Isn't that the whole point of having a NAS - not relying on an external factor such as google drive or other similar services?

Then why have it running? There are times where I didn't not access my NAS for a month. So I set mine up with wake on lan, so it can be turned on remotely. Mine is just backup so I actually have backup scripts that turn it on backup and can turn it off as well when done. No reason for it to run 24/7. With this setup sometimes I do manually run scrubs, or try and leave it on around scheduled scrubs, but it's not really a big deal.

My NAS is bit overkill, but would be about $7 a month if I let it run all the time according to my measurements. (That's assuming it's mostly idle). See my post here for specs, measurements, etc.

Theoretically any Linux system -- or even Windows -- can be configured to become a robust server, given appropriate tools. If feeling disgusted on command lines in Linux, then Windows would still be an plausible alternative; for example, sharing files, hosting something like Plex or NextCloud, & basic functions for building RAID.
Besides, modern NAS systems & Windows (may not be built-in but plausible with 3rd apps) should have options for automatic shutdown/boot-up -- if 24/7 availability is not required.

As for power supply, any model with 80 PLUS Bronze (e.g. Delta NX350) would be sufficient with lower costs.

My truenas is still running on a Phenom ii x4 955, and although it has four cores, looks to bench very similarly to the Pentium mentioned above. Although I only have gigabit, I have a similar four drive raidz1 array with Ironwolf drives, as well as a second three drive array. The limiting factor is certainly the disks with large queue depths - CPU usage rarely ventures above 50% while disk busy reports will pin at 100%.

Yes there are USB C headphones - but i dont see why should buy new ones if the old ones work just fine, just environmental madness - just give me the port that is universal for decades and works just fine
And BT is more hassle than worth it, half the time it wont connect on first try and still you have another thing to charge
I had to resort to a 2017 xps to get a full size sd slot as a photographer to not have to carry a ton of dongles for every crap... Its frustrating to have to carry x amount of dongles just to get work done on the road

The problem is that most companies follow such trends and the people who need the ports dont have much choice anymore
Same with the headphone jack on phones, sadly it got so widely adopted that the choices are very limited...
