I was about to buy a $50 adapter and thought...I can do better.
How about a small aluminum block with a couple threaded holes?
I happen to have a few.

Fasten the block to the GPU mount leaving a small gap that the case material will fit in.
Use the gap to hook the GPU over the slot in the case.
Tighten a set screw against the case.

Doing the same thing on the other end but have to drill a hole in the mounting tab on the GPU.
Not really needed unless you slam your PC around a lot.

PCI USB board used for demonstration. I'm aware it's not a GPU. lol

You can find console games for cheap if you know how to find them.

I nabbed a brand new Ratchet and Clank for $10 bucks at Gamestop (holiday sale special)
Shadow of Mordor used $9.  Batman Arkham Knight for $16 used. Need for Speed for $25.

The nice thing with physical console games.  You can play them, finish the game, and then trade them in for money towards the next game.  That how I actually have my current PS4 games.  I did not pay a dime on them.  Store credit from previous games I traded in.

you still lose all of your data unless you made a backup of the larger drive on some other storage medium like a external HDD or something of that nature. RAID 1 your drive would make you sacrifice storage space for redundancy and RAID 0 sacrifices redundancy and storage space for raw speed

but just know that if you run RAID 1 then you will effectively lose 512GB of storage space since data is written equally on both drives. Yes you would technically have 1TB of flash storage installed however, only 512GB of it can be used and accessed. the other 512GB is just a redundant backup in case of drive failure then it would be used to rebuild data once you get a new drive to replace it.

Here you go. Exactly what you want in a gaming card only its a quadro and costs $5,000 for the M6000 and about $3,000 for the k5200 if I'm not mistaken. Also they would game similar to a standard GTX or TITAN.

Then we need options...that don't cost $5000. LOL
And when building a PC,the case is your choice. If something doesn't fit,it's because you decided it shouldn't.
There aren't many options for cases in width though. I have a mid tower that should be plenty big enough but my power cable makes it hard to get the side cover on. I actually removed the glass to make more room.

The power really should be on the bottom. Eight pins would be enough for any card. and a standardized PCI plus power slot and bam no more cables past the main board.

Most cards overhang the board anyway so why not have the plugs there. I mean that would clean the whole thing up and you can mod almost any case easily to pass a cord through to the back of the card or bottom, whatever. Well for me as long as I don't need a cutting torch I figure it's gotta be pretty easy.

mckrackin5324 reacted to GoodBytes in What do people hate about Apple?
Here is the thing. Apple used to be innovative. Now, they photocopy ideas and claim their own without even having a better implementation. The company doesn't have a clear direction for its OS, where its GUI is getting a mess more and more at every release, and their products, while well made, are now all about locking Apple users in to make it very difficult to leave, and to push the sale of accessories (a lucrative business). All this, because Apple is loosing marketshare. They are loosing the grasp from people, as it is not able to continue to be innovative or bring interesting features. If Apple wants to keep its users, and GROW, they should always be at the forefront. They can't afford to sleep.

Products that were first release were polished in the past. You had a nice experience out of the box. Now they are filled with issues. This situation is only gets worse and worse every year. They don't care and have nor give any attention to its customers which their product aims at. Moreover, issues are quickly hidden, follows a draconian business model (say something bad in a review? Fine! No more review device for you. No more invited to any Apple event. You are ban for life!). The company has no proudness and lives off its fans.

For example: Before, MacBook Pro, provided you with this small form factor managed to put a dedicated graphics (remember, chips were hot at the time compared to now), have great battery life, great cooling, backlight keyboard, solid build quality, great everything for an amazing experience. Sure expensive, but the only place where you could get this full package, and was an easy and simple choice for the customer who seek the best. Now: Here is a laptop, it only has 1 port, nothing special, meh all around, other manufactures are more innovative, the look of the device has never been really touched, and it starts to look more and more outdated each year.

That is why people are harsh with Apple. You had this company, yes their product was expensive, but ignoring that, was pushing the industry forward. Now, it is sleeping and not doing anything. Not pushing the boundary of anything. Just creating inconvenience, taking advantage of its media attention and its users, and fans who defend their decisions. Fine at first (I mean a product can't please everyone, and Apple has its own market in any case). But now it reached to a point that there are 0 justifications, especially that other manufactures not only has products that are better in every way, like Apple did before, including quality, or at worst near that (again, for the same target segment.. obviously we are not talking about that 500$ laptop).

Apple used to push the industry forward. I mean, if it was not for Apple, we would probably be still be with those ugly ass beige boxes... ok maybe not in 2016.. but Apple sure did push things to get us nice looking systems as options in both laptop and desktops sooner. They showed that people cared about looks, at least to some level, and that could push sales. They pushed high specs and excellent cooling at the same time on other manufactures. They pushed great displays, they were daring in trying something new (different plastics (transparent, color, more durable), aluminum, glass)

Now... they have nothing... no thing to show.. people see this massive potential in Apple, but disappointments after disappointment are only released. It is like the company started with this massive R&D lab, now it is just a team of 5 people trying to think about ideas.

MacBook, 1 port, overheats, nothing special, nothing new to the table, we have better and more features rich device just as thin, and subjectively better looking, and same/similar build quality. The iPhone 7, the taptic engine vibrates the phones left and right making it uncomfortable to use due to the slippery metal texture they use, you feel like the phone can fall off, no headphone plug while other phones are just as thin, and more water proof have it, and have 0 compromise. Apple claims thinnest is important, but cuts battery instead of cutting display thickness, which they can, by a lot, by switching to OLED display, especially that these days OLED has solved many of its drawbacks like: image retention, color shifting over time, low brightness, and cost. All in order to push their battery cover, or have people switch to the new iPhone sooner, as the battery wear over a year make it deliver insufficient battery life for most (over time, battery life reduces). There is no iPhone 7 on display beside the Apple store. Why hiding the device? Maybe to not see the issues listed (I went to the Apple store and have a look). Maybe to have a mass number of people around to make it look interesting. I don't know... but it isn't like Apple. Apple usually LOVES people to touch, anywhere, their system, and feel them. So what is going on now?

Apple users should be angry and demand more from Apple. Competition is good! Consumers who like Apple ecosystem, deserves better. Apple talent that the company had in the past with the ability to offer great experiences, new features, all in a very simple matter, is disappearing. Yes yes, you didn't have jam pack number of features, but that is the point. You have what most really needs. Now, to me, it feels like that they don't push innovation because they are afraid, have 0 courage to determine what should be there or not, and how to present it. Apple claiming "Courage" for removing the headphone plug is a sign that they have 0 courage. A courageous person, doesn't need to say that they are courageous. Their action defines that already. Here it doesn't. Business wise, it is great! More accessories to sell. But against consumers.

That is what I can conclude based on my observations currently.

No, it doesn't bother me.  It's plastic or metal, not a god damn life insurance policy.  (If you sign up with us today, you get 3 free respawns!!!)
But no.  So what.  Some "gaming" marketed gear looks pretty good to me, others look downright ugly.  Either way, I'll use it if I like it.  Plus a lot of gaming marketed stuff comes with extra functions.  Like how gaming mice come with extra buttons and adjustable DPI (both which I benefit from in games such as Overwatch) and macro keys and RGB backlighting in keyboards.  I don't mind those.  I like backlighting, and if I want something besides boring vanilla white, I have that option.

At the end of the day though, it gives options to the consumer.  Meaning, even if you never buy a "gaming" product, you benefit, because you have the option to either buy it, or not buy it.
Same with me.  I have a Reddragon gaming mouse.  I like it, it was only $13 and it's kickass.  But my buddy wanted a Logitech MX master.  We both have those options to buy the mice we want.
In the end, just live and let be.  You don't like it, can't stand it, don't buy it.  But it's kind of cynical and narcissistic to want them to disappear because YOU personally don't like it.

Future proof only means that it will probably work with the next advancement. It doesn't mean it will work for life.
I do understand what you mean though. A lot of people take it too literally.

And OP...No. It doesn't bother me. There are very few words that can evoke an emotion for me. Especially hate.

Future proof is often used in the context of "should I buy an i7 over an i5 to be more future proof for games?" - which is nonsense because performance requirements don't advance linearly nor optimally. At the end of the day an i7 is a hyperthreaded i5 and even today the games that use more than 4 logical cores are few and far between, not to mention 80% of the load is on the graphics card.

Same goes for the graphics card, it doesn't make sense to pay 800$ for 15% more performance than you'd get if you had paid 400. You can most likely get something much better than the 800$ solution for 350-400 in 3 years or so, which is when you would start to feel the need for more performance.
