I used to play competitive call of duty with a team from my region, to be honest i ended up finding that the only way after that to enjoy it properly was either playing in a group of 6 all collaborating or just FFAing. Call of duty turns into a completely different game when you play it with your friends and friggin own. Im into LoL now though, its a really interesting game that you actually have to learn and gain skill in to become good at, cant wait for ghosts though! fingers crossed for even better competitive support..

Very cool, introducing the $300 unlimited pistol creator! Create guns from the comfort of your sofa on your ipad :D , its very good though, good from new companies and designers. Could be especially useful to young creators..

Sounds like you'll be wanting an i7 then, now these are quite expensive for a CPU, but since you'll be using multithreaded applications I can see you're one of the few people that actually might need one. The new i7 Haswell chips are out, you may aswell get one of these since they are pretty much the same price as the older Ivy bridge.

 

If you're not a serious gamer I would push you towards a few different graphics cards, something along the lines of a 660ti may suit you, or a 7950 from AMD. If youre wanting something abit more high end go for a new GTX 770.

 

You will need a Z87 motherboard if you're going with Haswell, so google that.. If you want me to look for one, put up what you want but theyre really easier for you to choose.. Go with the big brands at the moment though, since theyre new. Like Asus,Gigabyte, ASrock.

 

Hard drives: this is again dependant on you, if you're using large files a 2TB western digital Red or Black (Black is higher quality and therefore more expensive)

 

SSD: Theyre good, and if youre looking at them I strongly reccomend the samsung 840 for small sizes 64GB-256GB but anything beyond that I would reccomend a M5 , google it if youre interested, however theyre very expensive.

 

PSU: You'll be looking along the lines of a 650W - 750W power supply. If you want to upgrade and maybe run two cards in the future I would go as high as you can afford, use reputable manufactuers, corsair ect. Go to the newegg website, the popular brands at the top section are actually the best.

Case is really up to you, im not even going to reccomend anything. Since its so personal and you probably wont like what i like, such as the corsair military grade or the zalman z11..

you're willing to drop 2k on graphics cards? :o youll probably be better off going for dual 780s, will save you alot of money

get some 1600Mhz RAM? its the biggest gain in speeds, after that it tends to tail off. Do you not want to overclock??

It should be yeah. the 7850 has a tdp of 130w but if you want to crossfire two, you should probably get a larger one

Yeah, but to be honest the biggest increase at the moment is from 1333 to 1600, not alot of difference is made anywhere else.. not really worth upgrading past 1600 until DDR4 :)

You only really need an i7 if you're editing or rendering. An i5 is plenty for gaming and the like. Im going to be getting one just for the sake of having an i7 when the next gen come along. Its dependant on how comfortable you are on spending, your income and weather youre a 'I want it because its cool' or a 'I want it because I need it' sort of person. You wont need it for purely gaming, but they are fast, and on the odd ocasions where you do multithreaded processes they tend to.. fly :)
