linux Help with linux and flash drives

So I would like to install ubuntu on my flash drive so I could boot off my flash drive and get in ubuntu. I don't want to put the installer on my flash drive like I have accidentally done because I did it wrong. I want the os bootable off my flash drive. Can anyone help me do this? -
