  1. From the little back room at NCIX (I'm assuming it was a back room for how tiny it looked) to the full fledged LMG HQ you have now. 3 million subs and many vids later, here you are. Congrats on the milestone! Well deserved! As for which of those two laptops I would rather win, I'd say it's an easy win for the NEW Razer Blade 14. Having a laptop that could run games and be so light and portable would be amazing.
  2. A second opinion from Linus would be great to see.
  3. That hexa-core would finally allow me to upgrade my current video/photo editing workstation to something more suited for the task.
  4. Not gonna lie, the carbon fiber finish on the Extreme is pretty sweet. Wonder just how much of a beast the 980 version is if the 970 almost matches the 780ti on some of those results.
  5. Wonder how many posts are about that great looking screen. Can't say I blame them, though. It does look quite spectacular, and those front facing speakers, yesss!
  6. Wow, thanks for all the quick responses! Didn't think everyone would choose #2. Does Build #2 seem overly expensive for the specs to anyone? Compared to the others, I mean. Edit: forgot to click Post so I didn't see your reply, Pulledtrigger. Thanks for the input!
  7. Now before you all crucify me, I just want to state that this is for a friend who does not have previous computer building experience, nor does she want to build one. I also can't build one for her because she lives a couple hours away. Basically she wants something powerful enough to not worry much about "can I run this?" that she can start using right away (hence the no building). At the moment she uses a crappy laptop which can play League of Legends on low settings at very low fps but she wants to try new games as well and it's impossible with her current laptop. When searching for a pre-built I tried looking for something powerful enough that she didn't have to worry would stop her from trying games but that wouldn't break the bank as well. She's not sure of a budget but $1.3k is a bit much so I'm guessing anything great under $1k would do it. Any feedback as to which is better or suggestions as to where I could find anything better would be greatly appreciated. Buying from sites like ibuypower (although those seem overpriced, imo) and the like seems to be out of the question since her family insists on suggesting she get a macbook or a dell (basically mainstream). Here are two options that were shown to her from different people. I'll post the basic specs for each. Prebuilt #1 Intel Core i5 4460 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.4 GHz) 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 2 DIMMs 1TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 1GB DDR3 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW), write to CD/DVD Wireless 1703 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 Wired Multimedia Keyboard, US-English Laser Mouse 19-in-1 Card Reader Total is $699 before shipping/tax Prebuilt #2 Intel Core i5 4440 (3.10GHz) 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 3GB GDDR5 24x DVD-RW 802.11AC Wireless USB Keyboard USB Mouse 16-in-1 Card Reader Total is $849 before taxes/shipping $769 after Mail in Rebate Prebuilt #3 AMD FX-Series FX-8320 (3.50GHz 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1GB 24X DL DVD+/-RW Drive 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN USB Deluxe Keyboard USB Mouse Total is $629.99 Thanks in advance!
  8. Favorite thing? The signatures of course! Those aside, I gotta say the design looks great and the specs are quite good, although I wonder just how well the 850m runs.
  9. I've gotta say the customizability of the interface is what attracted me to it. The example you showed of using hangouts while watching a video and the text response as well were just wonderful bonuses. Wish I could do that alone on my Galaxy S2. Great review as always, Linus!
  10. I don't regularly upgrade my phone like a lot of others do but the M7 definitely tempted me to. Now the M8's just begging me to get it. Such a good looking phone and apparently a nicely working one as well. Thanks for the review, Linus!
  11. I was wondering the same thing as well. I need all 3 dlcs and it would be 25$ atm, but they were on sale on Gamespot for 22$ and I missed it about a week back. :(
  12. Tweetered! https://twitter.com/Nee7ox Looking forward to the Computex coverage! I'm sure it's gonna be awesome!
  13. Halo: CE Morrowind Oblivion Deus Ex Splinter Cell Series Ghost Recon Series (before Advanced Warfighter came out)
  14. Try this out! :) http://malwaretips.com/blogs/lnk-file-association/ Helped me solve this for someone I knew who had this problem.
  15. Here goes! Such an awesome prize and kudos to you for putting up the cash for shipping! :)
  16. Awesome thread. I've never done any water cooling but the possibilities of customization are so great that I definitely enjoy seeing watercooled builds and guides. One of the main youtube channels that I like when it comes to watercooling is Singularity Computers' channel. He makes beautiful builds as well as extremely detailed video logs to go along with them. His videos might be long but for people who want a lot of explaining and detail with the process of configuring water cooled setups, I think it definitely helps, not to mention the eye candy that his builds provide. Perhaps you can add his channel to the list of useful links. Like I said, I'm no watercooling pro, but watching his vids has definitely gotten me into perhaps doing my own. :) http://www.youtube.com/user/SingularityComputers
  17. Thanks for making this topic and for the responses! I was just about to make one, myself! Just had a power outtage yesterday and realized just how much something like this could help. Off to purchase an 865W one!
  18. I see. The drive was only storing data, not running anything off of it. The irony in all of this sucks so bad. I bought the 3TB drive SPECIFICALLY to back up all the stuff that's on my current 1TB WD and 500GB drives. Can't believe I had to back the 3TB with my old drives instead. I guess I'll have to put my less important stuff on it. Think I'll have to buy a couple more drives and set up a back up server soon. :( I tried going into the BIOS to look for an error logger or something, but I couldn't find anything of the sort. My motherboard is an Asus P6X58D-E. The drive hasn't made any crazy noises while in the other computer. I'm starting to think I need to upgrade my computer in general. Lightning struck about a year ago extremely near the house and fried the internet modem as well as the onboard LAN on this motherboard. I inspected the motherboard to see if there were any burn or scorch marks but couldn't find any. From what I could tell at the time, the only thing not working was the onboard LAN, but I'm guessing maybe something happened to the sata ports too? :(
  19. Even at 1920x1200 I still have to use AA because I can tell quite a big difference between on/off and even WHICH type of AA is currently being used. In my case, the only game I currently play which I can't fully max is my heavily modded Skyrim. The hit is quite big depending on the type of AA, as well. I used to be able to max it out at 8x regular AA (before all of my current mods) but after discovering that I could use Super-Sampling AA with my 6970, I tested it out and the difference was quite big. Even Super-Sampling AA at 2x looks better than 8x AA in my opinion and the performance hit is a lot less as well. 4x Super-Sampling AA is still less of a hit than 8x AA and would be where I usually play if my GPU could handle it all the time. Like Ruecan said, though, it comes down to personal preference whether or not the performance hit is worth it to you.
  20. Progress Report! So I managed to finally remove all the data that was on the Seagate drive and put it on the other drives I have. Now I have 3 full drives and an empty 3TB Barracuda. I decided to try SeaTools again using the Long Test on this computer and the drive failed that SeaTools test. So I was a little relieved that it finally failed a test from SeaTools since every other test it did, passed for some reason. I decided to try out the suggestion from Seagate and run SeaTools for DOS and see if it could repair the errors. Started through the process when all of a sudden at 21% a horrible noise starts coming from my computer case. I'm scared to say that while at first I thought it was the hard drive, when I opened the side panel, I think the sound was coming from the motherboard. Scared the hell out of me. Anyway, I removed the hard drive and put it on another computer I have lying around. I installed it and ran HDD Regenerator on it on the other computer and it detected 3842 delays and repaired 929 bad sectors. Ran another scan and it says 0 bad sectors but 5 delays. Not sure what the delays are, but I'm guessing they're not a good thing. So now, a question: With the sectors regenerated and everything, does that mean that the drive will work properly? or am I just prolonging the inevitable failure that the S.M.A.R.T chart displays? I really don't want to have to go through this again. I know drive failure eventually happens, but I don't want it happening again in a couple of months =/. Also, here's a link to the horrible noise I heard.... anyone know what it could've been?
  21. Opera. Made the switch a couple years ago and haven't looked back, since. Love it. Easy to use, bookmarks and speed dial wherever I need them, nice interface, just a wonderful browsing experience.
