Just a small one, nothing big, but it still got me to think.

Last night I was at a summer-ball game, and a man with a fairly fancy camera was standing behind me. I'm not sure if he was a team photographer, with a newspaper, or with a scouting organization, but nevertheless he had a big camera with a big lens.

A man standing next to him was fairly intrigued and started talking to him about it. This is the part of the conversation I remember:

Man: "How many pictures can that thing hold?"

    Photographer: -inaudible-

Man: "What size card do you use?"

    Photographer: "sixty-four"

    Man: "Megabytes?!"

    Photographer: "..."

    Photographer: "No, gigabytes."

I suppose, long story short, one day, my professor said she was having "computer issues" so she called for help.

The issue? She forgot to turn the computer on.

    It's his "World Destroy Button."

See, Linus is an alien God from the distant cosmos,  masquerading as a humanoid to gain our trust. He sees value in us, and has chosen to befriend us (which also means the almighty Linus has chosen to spare our lives) because we posses the Titan X, a machine foretold about in his home planet's prophecy. It holds the key to dominating all of reality inside it's charcoal cage. Linus is waiting for the right moment to unleash it's inner power on all who have trespassed against him.

That button in his pocket? Well, that's what he uses to implode planets lightyears upon lightyears away. He does it just for the lulz

Or, you know, it's a button to control his teleprompter, but that just seems silly to me.

It's really fun on the PC, especially with a quality steering wheel.

    FlatOut/FlatOut 2

The guys at Bugbear are Gods amongst men, in my eyes.

It's good on console too, but PC version is better, strictly for the controls.

Not to be a prude, but is there any reason why you can't get an offline job?

I mean, people don't hire off of good faith. You are technically an investment to whoever is going to hire you, and with no work experience, it's going to be tough to land a job that requires a LOT  of self-discipline.

Also, I would consider your future. What job do you want to have when you are in your 30's or 40's? Are there any opportunities around you that will give you experience for that job? That would be a better option.

My advice would be to get a job working retail for a while. It's not glamorous, but at least you will get your foot in the door of the work world, and earn some cash while you are at it.

I hope I don't sound too critical, best of luck.

It wasn't that bad. 3 or 4 were slightly off, but I was able to re-seat with some careful wiggling.
I'm posting from it now, and everything seems stable. It's not running hot or anything.

GigaSnow got a reaction from WFMB in Hypothetical Optiplex SX280/775 Re-Build
I was doing a little bit of cleaning in my parent's basement when I came across a Dell Optiplex 280SX. I always liked how slim these cases were, and it got me to visualize building inside of it. This build is more or less a thought experiment, but if you guys think I can fit this hardware (list below) into this case, I may actually purchase the parts and make it a weekend project. The use for it would be an HTPC/surfing rig. Won't be doing any gaming here.

Here is the PCPartPicker list for what I came up with. Nothing is absolute, I know I could save a few bucks here and there, so feel free to change as you see fit. Also, if there are any smaller options (actual size wise) for power supplies, I'd be more than interested. Only requirement is that the MoBo has to have HDMI out.
    https://pcpartpicker.com/user/GigaSnow/saved/#view=jvjdnQ
    EDIT TO ADD:
I did a revise for a cheaper option. I know I could make it cheaper yet by cutting out the SSD, going with a cheaper fan, a dual core CPU, and a smaller HDD.
    https://pcpartpicker.com/user/GigaSnow/saved/#view=fkJcCJ

Here are a few problems I already am noticing:
    1. Rear panel
-Rear panel would have to be custom made to allow room for rear I/O and PSU, and have room for the side panel release mechanism. I can't imagine this would be that hard to accomplish

    2. Air flow
    - I can't imagine this thing putting out a ton of heat, but airflow is going to be affected. I can fit a fan up front, but that's about it. I'm thinking about cutting a vent hole above the CPU fan.

    3. Optical Drive.
-The 280sx and 775 sport a slim dvd drive on the front of the case. Removing the drive would allow me an extra 3/4ths inch of clearance, but would leave an ugly hole on the front of the case that I would either have to casually cover, or leave empty. I could also get a slim Blu-Ray drive and rig it up, but that would cost a ton of money.

    4. Front USB/Audio/Mic jacks
-These are soldered directly onto the board, so they would have to be removed. I haven't researched how to make my own to fill the spaces.

    5. SSD/HDD mounts
-Would have to customize these as well. Not a big problem, but it's worth mentioning.

Sounds like my high school... 4 blocks (one split in half), and an optional off-campus lunch (for juniors and seniors).

Granted, we had the same 5 classes every day. Not 4 one day and 4 more the next.

I (typically) don't get emotional with games, books, or movies, because they are fiction. They aren't real life, therefore do not affect me in any way other than entertainment.

The only time I remember remotely feeling anything towards a game was being pissed off at Eric Sparrow. I also recall a weird response to Sasuke's deception in Naruto: The Broken Bond.

It's also serving a double purpose to test my blu-ray drive, as I haven't used it yet, aside from OS install.

#1. Many pro gamers understand that in order to have a trained mind, you have to have a trained body. There are many guys that strive to succeed just as much in the gym as they do on the sticks (or keyboard). Calling them "fat" is a lazy argument, especially when some of these guys are more physically fit than some pro-athletes.

#2. While it wasn't mentioned in the OP, I'd still like to point out that you burn just as many calories watching League of Legends as you do watching the NFL.

#3. Why are people so threatened by the name "eSports" to begin with? Who really cares? It's existed long enough that arguing about it isn't going to change the name...

Seriously though... I have a few.

-I know it's "cliche," but physical media. Movies/music/games on disc will cease to exist. Music faster than all else.

-Consoles (as we know them). I'm guessing that there will be, for the foreseeable future, boxes that hook-up or connect to a tv to play games, but consoles in their current state will cease to exist, probably in the next generation or two.

-SD cards? Just throwing this one out there, I don't know many people who still use them. I think they are still popular with photography though.
