  1. Those are some ridiculously low minimum specs if you have 3k to spend I'd first look for battery life and RAM. At the very least 16GB, I'd probably go for 32GB. Next up is a nice screen and keyboard. Definitely going to be a really nice thing to have seeing as you are likely going to be using this laptop for most of the day almost every day for the next 3-5 years. My recommendation is to go for something fairly slim and 14" or below, I am extremely happy to not be lugging around a thick and heavy 15.6" during my days. The graphics might be tricky, seems like they want you to have a dedicated GPU, any discrete GPU you can find in a laptop from the last five years or so will probably be good enough. Buying used can get you a heck of a lot more value too. I got my surface laptop 2 for €300 when my pro 4 died, you have about 6x that budget so you should not have a hard time finding something suitable in your price range.
  2. The local postal service has become a fucking joke. It was bad, but I have rarely had this shit of an experience with it.

Bought a few things from a German store, usually works great because that's another EU country, but it's taken the postal service a full working week now to get my package to somewhere I can pick it up.

It got into the country in the morning hours of Monday and the tracking said I'd have it that day so I stayed home. Two hours after the proposed delivery time it was still not here and the tracking updated that it was still in the same place as at 1am...

Package traveled to the city I live in during Tuesday but got here in the evening for delivery on Wednesday, but I couldn't be home on Wednesday. The door delivery failed as I was not home(it would have failed if I was home too because they don't go into apartment buildings 💀 also never asked for door delivery, it was forced on me and the delivery options button was broken).

Stayed home yesterday too as the tracking said they would make another attempt but with no specified time, then it updated to saying I had received notification of where I could pick up my package and then a few hour later it said I could not be reached at my telephone number with calls or texts so I would get a "different notification". At no point had I gotten any contact from them. All I had was the tracking number. Nothing in the mailbox, no email, nothing at all.

Package went back to the distribution terminal late last night and apparently I have been notified by a mail slip where and when I can pick up my package. Haven't checked that yet but if they mean that they have sent me a letter the that will probably arrive on Monday 😑

Pretty pissed as the store I bought from promised a 1-3 day delivery to where i am. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up my package today, I really need the stuff I ordered...

Xbox Game Pass for PC has the stupidest fucking…

Do you have to be logged in to the machine tho? Because I absolutely refuse to use a M$ account for getting into my computer

WAR THUNDER FORUMS AT IT AGAIN @HenrySalayne

What was it this time? And was it actually classified or was it just "restricted" as the last couple of posts were
  8. Why doesn't it have USB PD???? 5v 5A? Does anyone even sell that?..
  9. i built in that case when it came out, i thought it was pretty nice besides the acrylic window. The blue colour is quite nice so i imagine the red would be too. The plastic and paint isnt perfectly matched which bothered me slightly but its not that bad
  10. you probably need to update your repository refrences

jeez today has found a way to piss me off lol.…

This is the most somewhere-nowhere-in-america status update i have read
  12. if you want something that will never ever go down you would be looking at server grade stuff with ECC everything. i think for what you are looking for this would be a decent motherboard, but dont think that it will be the best thing ever forever. Eventually in a few years its going to limit you as you cant upgrade because of the chipset
  13. If you really want to know why, id say you should become and electrical engineer with a focus on semiconductor design for integrated circuits. Some useful topics to look into if you want a real answer are digital design and semiconductor design for integrated circuits. There are way too many for me to explain and its not like i know every limitation either but a few of them are: Gate charge, the controll terminal of a MOSFET acts as a capacitor that needs to be charged before it can effectively switch state Gate oxide thickness, thicker gate oxide means the controll terminal can handle more voltage which can speed up switching Critical Path delay, how fast the slowest thing you are trying to do with your transistors is C2Q delay, how fast your memory elements can ready the next output(kinda, not really) Package power dissipation, if its not enough the silicon structures will break These are VERY simple explenations of a few of the limitations that came to my mind, its not as simple as "make it cold -> more go fast"
  14. The RCA are outputs, you need a phono preamp i belive
  15. Does that amp take anything but USB input? I dont think it does
  16. I really like public transport and really belive it should be expanded and utilised by more people, but when it's about €1/day cheaper and 80min/day faster to commute on a Vespa I think I'm gona go for the Vespa

This is with insurance, fuel and parking included in the calculation and the cheapest option for public transport

  17. How did I end up with code where ((X==Y) && (X!=Y)) evaluating to "true"..... System Verilog is very weird

This giant exodus of gamedevs from Unity to God…

Ooo i didn't know that, that's actually very nice!

    RTFM guys. Really

  20. i have mostly used JLCPCB, only issues i have had are with large silkscreen graphics but i have only encountered that once
  21. I build and sold computers in high-school to pay for my computer hobby. I didn't really earn much, maybe like €20-€50 on each computer Stopped doing it when one customer ripped out the cables for the harddrive on their way home and came back and screamed at me and then once it was fixed they complained it was slow. (this was because it was a €300 build with no SSD and they instantly loaded it up with loads of startup shit). Also people are likely going to be asking you for IT support and everything they break will be your fault, especially if you fixed something for them already. Basically it was only worth it because I was obsessed with building computers and this was the only way I could ever have hoped to keep fueling my addiction. Currently doing my masters degree in electrical engineering, would wholeheartedly recommend that you keep studying. It gets a lot more fun as you go along
  22. It's an aluminium radiator so it might not be appropriate for all usecases
  23. I think you guys might appreciate these nice crystals on this buss battery: Wonder if this is why it has some trouble starting
  24. I think you will get more midrange with the Philips one compared to the creative you have, probably more mid-bass too. These are just my guesses based on the specs though. If you are going to but car audio stuff you are going to have to build cabinets or rip the interior out of a car. If you have access to a wood workshop and think calculating and designing speakers could be fun then sure, otherwise I would not go that route.
