    If anyone ever reads this...

My name is Shuya, I am half Japanese and half Korean. Though I actually lived in New Zealand for the majority of my life. Now I have made my permanent burrow back in Japan cos NZ sucks ballz (not really).

I am a freelance digital artist. I do concept art and illustration, I also do 3D modelling with Maya. I'm trying to move into 3D printing to make custom models.
Saying that, right now I'm actually working as a English teacher; cos like Japanese English teachers sucks balls (like actually).

Simply put, I'm a otaku/nerd. I like to play games and manga plays a huge part in my life. Though I am not a computer nerd, I hardly know anything about PC parts. But I want to dive deeper in the realm where your wallet gets dried up every year.

If your a pc geek and you live in Japan, hit me up!

  1. Update: I avoided the risk and went with two relatively new Seagate 8tb HDD's with ~6000 and ~8000 hours on them. Now with 24TB total, I should be good on storage for a while
  2. Hmm. I am kinda tempted to attempt a bargain and grab 2 drives... Though I am on the fence still
  3. I've been waiting for HDD prices to drop this year...but unfortunately, the prices have gone up instead. So an 8TB HDD that used to go for ~12000yen is now ~16000yen in Japan (sorry, but I can't be bothered to convert this to $$$). So now I'm looking at second hand drives...and they're also pretty expensive. Except the enterprise HDD's, as there's this one seller selling like 150 8TB enterprise drives for 9000yen each. They also provided crystaldisk info for the drives, and they don't seem that bad. I also only use my HDD for media files like music and movies, and to move my Steam games around, so I don't use them a whole lot. (My current 6TB HDD, which is about 5 years old now, has only 28000 hours on it.) So question is; is there still some life to be had with these drives? Yay? Nay? The model is Seagate Exos 7E8.
  4. Hmm... Water cooling is a headache to plan huh? Even if money isn't an issue, nothing is really so easy... I would just save myself from the problems by buying a EWKB combo set, but seriously they made some really ugly af pumps and reservoirs... not everyone enjoys have your logos on everything!! Which is why I want to get the one in the OP as it has a very clean but aesthetically pleasing design, without the over shadowing logos slapped on it. I considered the reservoir only versions like the one you linked, but as the H500M is kinda limited in space, I want to get a combo... Now I'm just as confused as when I first started haha How close can you fit a reservoir to a pump? I'd imagine at least a good 2 inches right?
  5. Is the product in the link considered ''high end''? I've checked their other products and this one seemed to be in the higher end (more expensive). They got cheaper pumps for like 30 to 50 dollars, but they got lower pump speeds (and look uglier) so I'm looking to get this one (going for a red build).
  6. But isn't Bykski a reputable brand in Asia? I mean they got quality components that rivals EWKB. Some even indicate both have the same sources for production.
  7. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Bykski-B-NWD5-DNACT-140-210mm-T-virus-Reservoir-With-Pump-Flow-Rate-1100L-H-Multi/431286_32876375571.html?spm=2114.12010612.0.0.1a9378b4Bixfpw I am wanting to get this pump+reservoir combo and the radiator I want to get is copper based. I asked the seller and he said that the body is not ''aluminum'' but it's ''aluminum alloy'', stating that the pump is compatible with copper rads. Now I know the scientifically proven divorce rates with aluminum and copper creating nasty divorce settlements, but it aluminum alloy different from regular aluminum? Or is it just aluminum alloy on the outside and the inside is just a different material? I would like to assume that the body of the pump reservoir is aluminum alloy for the looks and the inside is just some sort of ABS plastic... but looking at some other photos, the inside of the pump was the same material as the outside, so I am not sure. I could simply just get aluminum rads (as they are cheaper), but I don't want to lose too much performance. Any tips?
  8. I always staggered over the fact that GPU's are head numbing overpriced parts in Japan. With an 1080ti averaging at 115000yen during the first few months, with Gaming X dropping down to 90000yen at one point. This was still a farcry from the $750 US (790000yen) price tags. But with the mining craze right now drying the Nile into ashes, US prices have sky rocketed to $1300 for a 1080ti, while now we stand at the original release prices (back to around 110~120000yen). I'm not sure to be happy or angry. I want another 1080ti or wait for the next flagship GPU, but looking at things as they are, things are not looking bright...
  9. Are you using a USB cable to connect to the PC? If so, are you using the USB provided from the console? I found that some USB cables will not work and the PC won't recognize it. Actually, all the 6 cables I had didn't work and only the PS4 certified cable did. Even proper data/charge cables didn't work, despite working fine in connecting my phone. Or try bluetooth.
  10. Hey Linus! I got a very interesting Korean brand that I want you to look at! http://www.abko.co.kr/shop/product_item.php?ItId=2586311840 It's a South Korean brand called ABKO and this is their latest mid-tower flag ship case called ''605G Hubble''. Apparently AKBO is S.Korea's most popular PC peripheral brand right now. They also have a whole bunch of keyboards with interchangeable key switches and whatnot and also mouses/headphones. Could you guys check them out? I heard that ABKO was at Computex last year (which was also their first time attending), but no one seemed to have paid any attention to them. But they seem to have a lot of decent stuff!
  11. http://www.abko.co.kr/shop/product_item.php?ItId=2586311840 Link here. They seems to rocking out new products a lot lately. They even have a lot of awesome looking keyboard models too (like pages of it). Perhaps you could get them to sponsor a few of their cases and other things to review! I personally really want to see their new 605G Hubble case, which is their latest mid-tower flagship case.
  12. I'd choose the 1080ti. For half the price, there's really nothing to lose. It will be good until the next 80 type TI card drops, which is probably in another 1 and a half years at least.
  13. Monitors can or can't overclock refresh rates well, or if at all. The GPU doesn't really have anything to do with monitor overclock as long as it has the standard ports. Even if you have a high speed 18gbps HDMI hooked up that can hold all dem bandwidth, if the monitor itself cannot overclock, then it won't overclock. Some monitors are made with extra headroom for overclocking, but for the majority you won't get a lot out of it. The monitor stops ''working'' at 165gz, because the monitor is saying ''I can't run that fast'', meaning that even with a Titan XP, the monitor can't run at that speed. Nothing you do will likely change that, unless you open it up and do some serious chipset modding. So sorry to crush your dreams, give up on 165hz and find the refresh that the monitor says ''okay'' to. Even then, just like a CPU overclock, it may become unstable, so overclock with caution.
