The real golden age is when you get ICBMs and Death Robots while all other nations are still using horseback riders (Easy mode and Science for the win). It gets crazy with 50+ bombers vs archer barbarians...

@ScratchCat the real fun is when you finally get artillery to easily capture cities using 2 arties and a horse.

Even better is the range upgrade and double attack galleys and frigattes

I shall try that, I have never started a war before the industrial ages as otherwise my citizens seem to starve a lot.

back in AOE gold, I'd use the police car cheat, kill all but a few soldiers and then go back home, destroy the police car, build up my civilization, and pave every square on the map and put a maze of walls down leading to those remaining soldiers before i went in for the kill.
