  1. Warranties are not only fixed to the country you buy the item from. They usually go together with the receipt from the retailer where you bought it, and unless it's an officially licensed one, the manufacturer has the right to refuse handling for more complicated issues (usually a problem for smaller stores). In the USA, warranty and return policies are extremely liberal, while in Europe returns are nearly impossible. The usual people to get burned by warranties are exactly those who buy/import electronics to avoid paying the full price/VATs. There are always the unlucky ones to receive a dead or broken item, and the only thing they can do is to either pay full price for a new one, pay nearly as much in handling fees and shipping for repair, or start hating on the company and switch to the more affordable in pricing competitor.
  2. Well that was a quick decision, only took a single post. Hopefully they'll serve you well, Sennheiser would be my choice as well, although best way to decide on headphones' comfort and audio is to actually try them, you can't know otherwise. Maybe ask at a hi-fi store around if they carry both models or if they can ship them for a try? Most audiophile places have services like that due to the nature of the clients and the usual cost that goes with it.
  3. Good for you, and I sincerely hope the card won't get damaged after being radiated at the security checkpoint, as you won't be getting warranty for in in the UK. Your parents might still have to explain why they have a computer component in their hand luggage, especially with the ridiculously strict measures at airports regarding electronics. Airport people don't really care about gifts or not, all they want is proof and a simple explanation to go with it.
  4. I still think they'll ask if the package is sent by an internet store, not by a private person. In Finland they might call you in even for 30 euros worth a package, especially if it's something electronic and/or sent by an internet store. It's more to do with "Is this product approved for safe use", than it is to do with taxation.
  5. In Europe you still have to fill in declaration for sending any parcels over 3kg and/or gifts in value 100+ euros. You can either pay the taxes pre-sending, or the recipient will have to go and take their gift from the customs, after paying the fee.
  6. I think the higher price is because of using aluminium instead of plastic for the card top, hence why the "while supplies last". I've only read unconfirmed news on that, but it would make some sense to have a special edition for the preorder/loyal clients, then a regular for whoever buys it after the price drops.

    Headsets?

Literally every Razer topic you open on this forum will have comments about how bad their audio peripherals are. Razer headsets are abominably poor in build quality, performance is mediocre at best, and "key" features are RGB leds you won't even see,and virtual surround sound that is more of a trade-off. I won't even begin on Razer Synapse, that's a whole different mess I've shared in another topic. The price range they're settled in is more than the OP's overall budget and he won't get nearly as good performance as other suggestions.
  8. You would probably still need some components changed (only the CPU is around 500ish, maybe less now), just to get the beast running. Titan X is still the boss.
  9. That's pretty cool! Here only MSI and EVGA cards go lower in price and are the most commonly sold (not only for the 980Ti000) - around 700 euros. Strix and Gigabyte ones still go closer to and above 800. I haven't seen any other makers being offered here, so market limitation is a good reason to have higher pricing. Either way, drops are always expected within a month of a new generation launch.

    Headsets?

Are you going to be doing it for fun or to build following and do streaming for revenue? If you do it for fun, your budget is fine and you can ignore the rest of the comment. If you want to go more seriously, the market of youtuber/streamer is beyond super saturated, so you'll probably suffer if you don't put out content with above average audio/video. It's the first thing that makes people stay on your stream, or leave to find someone who has better, and will rarely return to check back if you've upgraded. Usually better equipment pays itself off much faster (given your stream is engaging and interesting), and nowadays it's not really that bank-breaking. Good microphone and headphones (and good webcam maybe?) will run you below or around 300ish, depending on where you live. Initial investment will allow you to focus on developing your stream and saving for PC/channel upgrades, instead of looking to upgrade your already new setup.
  11. You'll probably be able to score 2 new 980Ti's after the 1080 launches, because the sales of older tech are gonna start and you might find cards for 400-500 euros (currently being 800ish).
  12. I've considered it, but since I'll have to collect it at customs, and pay the respective taxes, in the end it's still gonna be the same price, plus the additional delivery fee. Not to mention that whatever warranty it had in the US will not be held here.
  13. Finland as usual won't get the reference card, so these "founder's prices" are completely useless. I'll be surprised if we even get a 1070/1080 card in Europe (UK and Germany excluded as they usually get launches) within the first 3 months. If something does come to the markets, it's expected to have a tag at least 1/3 of/or double the original price, which is still nothing compared to how they inflate the prices in Australia/NZ and in South America.
  14. Seems like it depends on the region, but for Nordic layout keyboards, it adds Norwegian. Most people who don't have to switch between languages don't ever realize it's been added, but if you have more than one language in your bar, it messes up everything. And after a recent update from Nvidia Geforce experience, I'm now getting pop-ups to install Razer Synapse, even though I had it completely removed from my PC.
