Right ?! looks like the WD blue is the best for the money and power efficiency, id probably use some sort of cloning utility to move the boot over to it and maybe finagle the bios a bit, should be able to make some changes in the bios to have it boot with the m2 slot. the ONLY thing id ask for is maybe a touch screen and an IPS display im pretty sure this model is a TN

Well then its a good thing that theres an M.2 slot in the laptop right next to the hard drive isnt it? its Sata 3 but that means that this computer with another 70 dlls or so then this becomes a much more valuable.

Hello all !! browsing the internet i found this beauty, The Asus Vivobook. Intel Core i5 8250u -----Its a True quadcore processor at 1.6 - 3.4 boost 8gb Ram with empty Dimm slot for easy upgrades down the line 1 tb hard drive included -----But it has a Sata3 M.2 slot, so with the right software, you just copy over all of the hard drive contents to the ssd (heres my recommendation to keep battery life up) fairly meh battery with meh battery life no backlight but all in all im super down for it

It's an m.2 drive the board is an x370 prime from Asus I've been using it for a while now and I powered off the system to clean up around here @Armakar Can't find the right setting and I've tried loading optimized defaults too

ive got the 1600 and im super happy with it, just remember to update your motherboard to the latest drivers and all that. also dont touch voltage while overclocking, theres a bug that makes the cpu run at 1.55 ghz

I've had my Ryzen platform now for a couple months with some ... interesting results, (currently a Ryzen 5 1600 at about 3.5 ghz) at first the chip could be more or less stable at 3.9 (and at one point even 3.95 at about 1.35 volts or so) only the memory couldnt run higher than 2666 or so (3000 mhz dimms) so some updates later and such and now im running for power efficiency at about 3.5 ghz at about 1.2v and 2933mhz on the ram, more or less max. I want to see if i can set a max core clock on all cores for when i need the power but i would like the computer to run at a lower clock at idle, is there a way for me to do that with offset overclocking or is there another method. Side note, theres a known bug with ryzen and its platform that seems to drop the cpu down to the minimum possible multiplier of 15.5 making the cpu run at 1.55 ghz for some reason, ive narrowed this down to be whenever i adjust the voltage. Thank you in advance for your time

im having the same issue on an asus x370 prime board with a 1600 i think its probably something to do with the bios on mine, i had the 0515 bios on mine and while i couldnt get my ram to run faster than 2666 mhz i could get an overclock of 3.9 at 1.35 v. After ti installed the 0805 bios on mine (the most up to date bios at the time (and this is after i got all of my stuff downloaded and loaded up)) it allowed for me to get ram up to rated speeds (3000 mhz or 2933) it seems to do something funny when i try and alter the voltage, and i think i have isolated it to be the voltage that changes it. i can get my cpu to run at about 3.75-3.8 with the stock voltages. the Ryzen master software does allow me to get the voltage up to where i want and get the overclock working as it should but i dont feel like needing the master software to run an overclock really makes sense to me... at least personally currently have the 0807 bios and problem persists.

R5 1600 running way to slowly

it seems to be only when i change the voltage... when i leave the cpu to run at "Auto" voltage and try bumping up the clocks it works... @Damascus -

also the ryzen software reports a solid 1 volt of power going into the cpu where cpuz doesn't (*checks stock speeds yep boosting to 3.5 ghz no problem now at stock... im going to attempt getting the ram back where it was at 2666 (current 2933 and 2800 not working it seems like) -

both cpu z and ryzen master software report a frequency of ~1.550ghz though and cinebench seems to be taking the information directly from the motherboard as far as i can tell. (multiplyers and all of that nonsense) (also note that when running on auto setting the system works fine)
