  1. Thanks I appreciate the recommendation
  2. Ooh that looks fun, I've never heard of that series before. Any titles that you prefer? Or would recommend to start at?
  3. I can't put my finger on why, but that game has never seemed very appealing to me. Still might give it a try, I've heard too many people say that it's very good. Thanks for the suggestion!
  4. Anyone know any good RPG or life-sim games that have come out recently? I'm thinking anything between Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics to Harvest Moon and Graveyard Keeper. (I've played Stardew Valley ) Dark Cloud has also been on my mind a lot recently... Want to make sure I have something to help inspire me if I need it in the future, currently working on a strategic/tactical RPG game (Link in my profile if you want to see the progress so far ) Look forward to seeing what suggestions you may have, thanks! -Kubes
  5. Hey everyone I am currently making a game by myself and am inviting you all to follow my progress. Feel free to chime in or give criticisms, feedback is appreciated! I hope you like what you see! Link in profile
  6. Have you checked that the two GPUs are on the same driver version? I recently had issues getting a 1070 recognized in an SLI config because of that. DDU wouldn't work. I believe what finally fixed it was disabling one gpu, rebooting, updating for the one gpu, then rinse and repeat. If you can't boot on one core, maybe integrated graphics would work to troubleshoot? Edit: Device Manager was my best friend during this process so I could see what version each core was on.
  7. I bought this card when the 1070 came out, it is an EVGA SC Black if that changes things though. Edit: There is always the silicon lottery
  8. This is always good too. Especially on your GTX 1060, I have a 1070 and it can hit 2GHz under 1.0v, Pascal cards are very good performers with underclocking. I would try adjusting your voltage in MSI Afterburner: In Afterburner: Hit ctrl+f, click the voltage you want to test, put it to the OC you want, make sure you put every voltage higher than your OC(up to 1100mv) to a frequency lower or equal to your OC or else it will go to higher voltage, then apply (you may have to check 'unlock voltage control' in Afterburner's settings)
  9. I would look into it and do it, with whatever you are doing overclocking is just a nice benefit. Keep your temperature in check and know how to check for stability and you will be able to overclock no problem. Even on stock coolers you should be able to get small overclocks. In my experience it will be most noticeable in gaming, multi-tasking, and boot times. I personally overclock everything I buy religiously and recommend it to others as long as they make sure they are careful. Don't raise your voltage without knowing what is unsafe, and know what your safe maximum temperature is and try to aim lower than that. Edit: It is also worth it to see what is your usual bottleneck, MSI Afterburner is what I use to monitor this. If you see that your GPU or CPU is near 100% usage most of the time in high load situations, that is your bottleneck. I would overclock your bottleneck first to get the most out of it and then move onto the part that is not the bottleneck; This may save you some of your time, as once your bottleneck is overclocked you may see your other part doesn't need one.
  10. Considering getting a GTX 660 or 750 Ti (leaning towards 660) after I get 4GB of ram and an FX cpu, any opinions? Are those GPUs too old now?
  11. I don't think I'm planning on getting a second GPU unless I get another GTX 560, so I don't believe that'll weigh too much in my decision, not something I would have considered myself though, thank you!
  12. So I have been recently attempting to upgrade my old PC to try and get games to the highest level possible I can, mostly 720p*60FPS(60FPS is a law to me, sometimes high 50s is cool but I get anal. Games gotta be butter!). I could never get stable 60FPS on my old build, first I got the X4, way smoother, but still not consistent. Next was the GTX 560, best upgrade ever, made my nipples cut a few of my shirts(minor inconvenience), but not stable. Then I bought my Avexir 4GB DDR3 RAM(not realizing I had a DDR2 board...). New board time, and wow. DDR3 DRAM and smooth FPS! A little info on how it generally runs: I mostly play Skyrim with many mods, 720p, 60FPS most of the time(certain modded areas dip to about 40), on mostly high everything. I also play a decent amount of Spec Ops: The Line, maxed out, 720p, 60FPS, all day, until something starts loading... but, otherwise buttery! Been playing with PCSX2 a lot recently, Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy X, Monster Rancher 3, all 60FPS all around at 4x resolution and 2x MSAA with no speedhacks. Recently tried CoD Advance Warfare (don't care for it personally, mostly for benchmarking) and it keeps crashing, pretty sure because it suggests a minimum 6GB of RAM. Now I'm very fond of cutting my friends and family with my nipples all the time, but sometimes I think the cuts aren't deep enough and my quality could go higher! That's why as a person on a budget, I'd like some help in making an intelligent decision with my next few upgrades. ---------- ---TL;DR--- Looking for advice on bottlenecks/my next upgrade, any help is much appreciated! --------------- ----------
