  1. This covers most stuff, but to add: Some games give CPU more tasks, such as physics calculations. Therefore some games can be more CPU-bound while others put more emphasis on more GPU-power.
  2. Pi 3B+ is slightly newer, has more processing power (and can sustain it for longer), consumes more electricity and has higher wired and wireless network throughput. Rest is the same.
  3. It supports it, but you may need a BIOS update before the board can recognise the 9th gen CPU. EDIT: Right here is the information - https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B360M-AORUS-GAMING-3-rev-10#support-cpu
  4. Did you have the RAPID mode enabled? That uses RAM as a buffer/cache, which would explain the higher speeds.
  5. Yup. Card was advertised to have 2 GB of memory, but tools show 1 GB (or can't read it at all).
  6. To add - only in games that can take advantage of SLI.

  8. GPUs don't support Ethernet connections for sure. Don't know any motherboard (in case of iGPUs) that would support that either. It's mostly used for giving Ethernet from some sort of receiver/player to the TV, but that is very rarely used here in EU AFAIK. Seems to be very niche product. So no.
  9. Am running 6 WD Red drives in my NAS, 4 of them are about 4-5 years old now. Not a single issue with any of them.
  10. It's good, but it's also pricey. In addition, ASUS warranty is just okay compared to, for example, EVGA, whose customer support is remarkable.
  11. They all have the exact same core supplied by Nvidia, but they may have different clocks, if the manufacturer decides to overclock the card, different memory manufacturer, PCB, power delivery (number of PCI-E power connectors), coolers, price, design, warranty etc.
  12. 1) Only the cables that you want to customize. If they aren't visible, then you can save some money to not order them. For CPU, you need 1 EPS cable with 1x 8-pin (depending on the board). Then you need 24-pin ATX cable, the necessary cables for the 980 Ti (there are different power configurations, 8-pin+6-pin, 2x 8-pin, 2x 8-pin + 6-pin). Then SATA power/data cables, if you want and have the money. All cables are PSU dependent as PSUs use different plugs.
  13. I didn't say it isn't good, just that it won't match any desktop 8th gen i5. I had a laptop, which had that CPU and it was great for gaming, even in slightly more CPU-bound games such as GTA:V. And of course, also productivity.
  14. The laptop has i5-8250U, which is low-power CPU, slower than any desktop 8th gen i5. Also it has no dedicated graphics. That laptop is 511 USD - i5, 4GB of memory, 1TB HDD, W10... pretty sure you can get a similarly specced or even more powerful desktop for that price.
  15. So, current plan on the parts after doing some research: i5-9600k for 270 € ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING for 120 € Crucial 2x8GB 2400 MHz RAM for 100 € Corsair TX750M for 90 € Still undecided on the GPU and SSD, waiting on some offers. Already have a Cougar QBX case, got for 40 €.
  16. It's a smart switch, it does have a web UI. Has some very basic configuration options, such as basic VLANs. Still can be considered an unmanaged one.
  17. It will fit. A lot of boards have two SATA ports, one on top of the other and GPUs will clear with enough space. It's not convenient to use angled SATA cable on the motherboard side anyway, makes connecting more difficult + can block other ports.
  18. Okay, so, let's assume best case scenario that the data moves at the speed of light, for convenience let's round it to 300 000 km per second. Pluto is 7.5 billion kilometers away (that's 7 500 000 000). Light would travel that in 25000 seconds, which is about 416 minutes. That's 25 million milliseconds.
  19. Don't worry about it. CPU does that by default, for Intel CPUs the technology is called Intel SpeedStep.
  20. How powerful of a power supply would you recommend for 8700k and a 1080? EDIT: Ryzen 3 is estimated to launch somewhere between May and July. Not sure if I'm gonna wait that long.
  21. 9600k is available for 240 used, 290 new, 6700k 210 used, 324 new. So yea, the prices are changing, but will keep my eyes open and look for best I can get, be it new or used.
  22. Not in very much of a rush, but will be keeping eyes open. I do intend to save some money by going with used parts, so maybe even a 6700k or 7700k.
