I have always had computers, and have always upgraded them. This is how my pc sits now and where it came from.
It all started a long time ago when my dad got me a Dell Studio XPS. I will list the specs how it came out of the box-
Intel Core 2 Duo(Don't remember the model)
500GB WD HDD
2 Optical CD/DVD RW drives
4GB DDR2 RAM
Over time i upgraded it to the point of having a new PSU and Nvidia GTX 460. This computer lasted me about 5 YEARS, then the somewhat cheap PSU fried the CPU, Motherboard, and the windows install due to it crashing. At this point the new build started. When we started ordering this is what we got first.
Intel DX79TO Motherboard
i7 3820
Corsair GS800 PSU
16GB HyperX Fury DDR3 RAM
SlintX CPU cooler(the fan clicks but I am too lazy to replace it)
SoundBlaster ZX audio card to connect my sound system.
The case was a very old all white one that we had laying around since the board was too big. We reinstalled the GTX 460, mounted the old 500GB HDD and put an even older 500GB HDD out of our file server, stuck the optical drives in then installed 7 home premium. This is how it sat for about 6 months.
Then the holiday season arrived, we got a new case, 16GB of the same ram, and another old HDD(1TB).
We got a Cooler Master Cosmos II right off the shelf of Fry's electronic (I miss that store)
Then over the next year and a half I got a GTX 760($100 and free shipping off Newegg at the time)
8GB of temp. ram until I can get 32GB of the other ram.
A 700 series SDD from intel, then put 7 Pro on it. Formatted the 2 500GB drives and raid0 them.
Currently I have 4.5TB of space with 1TB being a RAID0(only steam games) a old 1TB for documents and system folders. External 2TB for programs. Then the SDD has only the os and like 5 Programs.
My CPU is running 4GHz and boost to 4.2GHz and 40GB of ram(Just a little bit of overkill).
The GTX 760 has two profiles in afterburner one stock for non-gaming usage, 1 OC for gaming.
The Computer spits out a lot of heat I don't need a heater EVER, I only need AC in the summer. The best part is that one of the HDD is older then all the new parts combined, the manufacturing date was in 2000.
If you want pictures please ask and I will put some up.
I quickly took some pictures while listening to the new video about the raspberry pi, which was fun since I had to move my 80 lbs machine to the other side to open it up.
