  1. Kaby lake offers very little performance extra (like 5%). And it will probably be overpriced when it´s launched, due to short stock. I would just look out for deals on the i7 6700 and a b150 board, or h170 if you naid RAID support
  2. I would take an i7+ cheap motherboard over an i5 6600k + z170 board + cooler anyday. Games are really starting to utilise better the extra threads. In the past, the i5 with an OC would be better choice, because games would often not use more than 4 cores, so frequency was more important than the extra threads. Not so much anymore. Battlefield 1 multiplayer is a great example of that. An i5 6600k with overclock will bottleneck a gtx1070 or better. A i7 will not. With an i5 you will get microstutter on that game, and overall less consistent frame rates. Watch dogs 2 see´s some good performance gains from an i5 to an i7, too
  3. Nope. That GPU is a 380, i have later upgraded to a 480, which keeps my CPU at 100% load most of the times on BF1 multiplayer. It still boosts to 3.1ghz on all cores. This CPU will never throttle with the stock intel cooler. And there is no reason for him to do so. It has never gone above 70ºC.
  4. Yes it depends on price. I would say under 15$ price difference you could go with the i5 6500, but 20$ or more is not worth it
  5. A lot of people in this forum say that the the 6500 is better value than the 6400 because it has more 0.5Ghz/500mhz, like the base clock suggests. That is wrong! The base clock is useless, the Turbo frequency is what matters! These processors are so efficient that even the stock intel cooler is enough for them to be hitting the Turbo frequency pretty much all the time. Take a closer look at the Turbo frequencies for both processors. Theres turbo for 1,2 and 4 cores. 6400 6500 3.3/3.3/3.1 3.6/3.5/3.3 So the difference between the 2 CPU´s is 200/300mhz 99% of the times. This is battlefield 1 running on a i5 6400. As you can see, all 4 cores are at 3.1Ghz. If it was the 6500, it would have been 3.3ghz Now do the math, in modern games youre gonna be utilising 4 cores most of the time. 200mhz is not worth the difference in price between the 2 CPU´s!
  6. Since skylake is overpriced at the moment i would suggest getting a i7 4790k and z97 board. The d14 cooler is probably overkill for that cpu too.
  7. getting a bad psu is like having a bad heart for your PC
  8. Because they are reliable, and use quality components
  9. I would personally save ur ddr3 ram and go with the 4690k
  10. Would you recommend the 4gb model of the 380/960 or do you think it´s not worth the extra money. I think it´s a matter of price difference, 30$ or less i would take the 4gb...
  11. If it´s a gtx960 with a good aftermarket cooler and you are willing to overclock the card the 960 is a great choice. Otherwise get the 380
  12. You could probably get a cheaper case like the define r5
