  1. Sorry about that, I didn't see the topic when I did a search. My bad!
  2. Apparently some people are finding out that their 1600s or 1600Xs have eight cores active instead of just six: http://www.techradar.com/news/some-ryzen-5-1600x-buyers-have-found-their-6-core-cpu-has-8-cores Has anyone here experienced this? What's the likelihood that this is just a flub by AMD, rather than them sending out ryzen 7 cpus in ryzen 5 packaging. Or this could all just be faked. Thoughts?
  3. I'm looking to build a pc for my personal use at home, as well as for some computational use for my job. I'm planning to use it to do some light gaming at 1080p, but most of the games that I'm into are older or are not very hardware-intensive. Lots of esports titles, emulation, and games like Civilization. I've put a parts list together that I've been editing for a while until I got all of the money together. Some good craigslist finds have left me with two GTX 960s (2gb) that I'm going to use in SLI and a couple HDDs that will act as the major storage components of the computer. I'm planning to add a good air cooler down the road so I can get some better overclocking than with the stock cooler, but I figure that stock will work for a moderate overclock in the short term. Anyway, let me know what you all think and if anything seems unbalanced. If you all can give me any power supply suggestions as well, I'm not sure if I need to go for a 650 watt, but I figured the headroom might be useful down the road. 4. Thanks for the input. If it had been 1060's, you would've saved me some money, so I appreciate it either way. I got the guy down to $170, meeting with him today to get the cards. Thanks for the help, everybody!
  5. Thanks for the input! I'm hoping to get the price down a bit to make it an easier decision.
  6. Thanks for the input! I wasn't sure it was the best idea, but the price seemed pretty good, especially if I can negotiate down a bit.
  7. I have a guy in my town listing two 960's on craigslist for $200, I'm wondering how that performance would compare to a 1050ti by itself. I'm doing a ryzen build in the next few weeks but I don't need a ton of gpu power, does it seem like a good idea to jump on this?
  8. I'm currently using a Logitech G710 Blue, an Anker mouse and Audio Technica ATH-M50's as headphones.
  9. I would quite like to add that mech keyboard to my setup
  10. Okay, thanks! I'll keep those suggestions in mind.
  11. Mostly for Portability. I also live in a dorm room, so I'm trying to keep it small just so I can make the most of the room I have. Thanks for the help! Any reason for picking the Nvidia card instead of another AMD?
  12. Okay! will there be much gained by doing fully modular over semi-modular? I know semi is a little bit cheaper--is there any reason to go more expensive?
  13. Thanks for the input! I'll look into that power supply--do you think it'll help even though the case has a cage for the power supply? I suppose I could hide some extra cables above it in the cage, but I'm not sure if it'll do much otherwise. Thanks for the SSD suggestion! I really just went with an inexpensive one for the size. Is there a noticeable difference for gameplay, etc. with a faster one? In regard to color scheme, I realized that all of my internals were red and black about halfway through picking components, but I'm hoping to have a white and purple (hence the extra fan) scheme for the outside/peripherals. That probably sounds dumb but I just really like the clean look of the white. But your version of the build does look really good--I might be in for a hard decision on the case color after all.
  14. I'm planning my first pc build for this Summer and I'm wanting some suggestions on different parts of my build--if anything is not great or anything like that. I'm going to do some gaming (1080p is the highest I plan to go) and I do a bit of video/audio editing as well, so I need a balance between those two. I might do some slight overclocking, but nothing too intensive. Also, if anyone out there has built in a 380t, I'd love to know suggestions specific to some parts you might have used to see how all of these will fit. Here's my parts list: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GJCsCJ CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII IMPACT Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: A-Data Premier Pro SP600 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card Case: Corsair 380T Mini ITX Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply Case Fan: Corsair SP140 49.5 CFM 140mm Fan Total: $1075.29 I know that the motherboard is a bit overkill, but I really want to be able to have both the audio-card with a graphics card and with the i5 4690k. Also, I'm only using one ram stick at 8gb now so I can put in another later. Thanks for your input in advance!
