  1. Well the name of this post is thread is SO ACCURATE! It is a RIP-OFF ! With not a single case shipped and over 2 years late and nothing but excuses from the project owner and most of the backers screaming that it is a scam or a rip off it has come true. If it walks like a duck... quacks like a duck ... it is probably a Duck! I see that Linus has changed the title to DO NOT BUY! And Indiegogo has stopped taking any more money for this project as it has been determined by them that it is not going to ship anytime soon and is probably a scam!
  2. windows xp media center at the very least. Anything from there up you can use an IR remote or wireless remote to change things. There was even a special one made for xp media center......... Windows 10 has tooooooooo many problems for me to endorse. I will be migrating to Linux for a more stable solution.....
  3. Windows 7 will not run on that system as the hardware is "Ahem" proprietary APPLE. That system is not shown to be able to run any Microsoft OS. Here is a link to the bootcamp OS page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205016 At the bottom there is a chart.............
  4. Of course it is possible. What level of access do you have to the target drive? Is the "remote drive on a network that you manage or have access to or is this a pc on the web that you have to get into? if it is the latter then you need to go and study and read up and understand for several years to get up to speed. good luck!
  5. Can't help em if they don't listen.............
  6. This is the solution. I would also, just for safety's sake unplug the other two drives that you have attached to the motherboard.
  7. Get yourself a cheap USB wireless adapter that has drivers for xp and try it. A laptop of that age may have issues with the Ethernet and the wireless network adapters. I have seen this many times in older laptops. This is a quick cheap test and fix.
  8. Here is your manual. Read the part about "reset CMOS" M7995v1.3.zip
  9. Possibly, amazon requires that the item be returned in the original packaging. This is what is stated in their return policy. Good Luck!
  10. You may want to use the corsair PSU power calculator to verify that you actually have enough power with all of the hardware you have in the system. Remember that you should have at least 15% more power available than what is needed. Example: the minimum that you NEED is 400 watts, then your PSU should be at least 460 Watts.
  11. Did you try the data recovery option?
  12. Boot into safe mode and uninstall your video drivers. Something in the video drivers is causing the problem. When you are able to boot into normal boot mode, download and re- install the correct drivers for your video device.
  13. This is bearing spin down noise. It may be due to lack excessive clearance in the bearings in the drive. Although not failing at the moment, it may have a shorter life expectancy due to the excessive clearances. IMHO I would see if it could be RMA' Ed as they always go at the most inopportune time.
  14. A short circuit in a component or the motherboard will cause this as well as a bad PSU. Unplug all components and attempt to start it up. If successful then plug in components one by one rebooting after each on until it does not boot. When it does not boot you have found the bad component. If it reboots immediately even after you have unplugged everything then you need to look deeper.
  15. Mac NTFS drivers are crap. They have been known to damage partitions/data on NTFS formatted drives. Put it back in the Mac and see if you can pull off the files on the card and then format it in a Windows PC and do not put it in your Mac again unless you get a different NTFS driver for your Mac like the Paragon NTFS for Mac. If you cannot get the files from the card then download on of the free partition recovery tools from the net. Something like EAseUS partition recovery, which is a free program. I have encountered this as well and ended up buying the Paragon NTFS driver for Mac. The poor NTFS driver included with the Mac OS is a fairly well documented problem and it will probably not be address as they don' t care about Windows.
  16. Yes but not very easily and it will require another drive similar to the Windows OS drive.
  17. Correct me if I am wrong but I have always found that if there is no bootable device found the BIOS will let you know with a message on the screen and not just dump the monitor. At the very least you will have a flashing cursor on the screen. I would suspect the monitor going off has more to do with a bad PSU or something wrong with the graphics card or some other hardware item. When you boot it up does it make it completely thru the BIOS boot sequence?
  18. Have you tried to boot with the video card removed and using the onboard video? His would help determine if the something is wrong with the PSU or the Video card itself. This is the next step in troubleshooting the type of problem you are experiencing after you have performed all that you have to this point.
  19. You also may want to make sure that both routers are not on the same channel as well.
  20. Reinstall an English version of the operating system.(Windows) Sometimes changing the language to English does not work on every single thing. Been there, done that, fixed that.
  21. Got power cable connected to the graphics card?
  22. It is not the CPU as the CPU has what used to be called the northbridge incorporated into it. It primarily controls the memory.
  23. It is telling you one of two things. Either one of the items plugged in to the PCI slots is bad or the chip itself is bad. The southbridge chip is the chip that is the platform controller hub for the motherboard. In your case it is the X99 chip. The fact that it is starting to boot tells me that the board is probably not bad. Clear the CMOS and see if it boots as the initialization order or code is a part of the BIOS programming code. If that does not resolve the issue then you will have to perform some hardware diagnostics.
  24. If you are still getting to the "Preparing automatic repair" then it is not the power supply keeping it from booting to the drive.
