    No.

iOS 10 came out in 2016 and the iPad 4 came out in 2012. I personally don't see why it's a big deal a $400 device from 2012 is not supported anymore 9 years later.
It was perfectly usable up until app developers stopped supporting iOS 10. Nothing you can do about that.

iOS11 probably introduced a good number of new APIs that were never ported to iOS10, and the iOS 10 user base is so small it's not worth the effort anymore. The only devices stuck on iOS10 are the iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPad 4.

Maybe you should setup this before worrying about games, that's the least of your concern for such a setup

Most games probably don't care about it anyways (or can't even tell, perhaps)

You will also need an SSD if you don't have one yet. With Intel 5500 graphics and a 5th gen dual core i3, you won't be playing anything beyond Minecraft. Install the optifine mod to make it run better.

You'll need to look for a GTS450 ROM that matches your card best in terms of memory type and clock speeds.

Phenom II can hold its own to a Core 2 Quad Extreme. The overclockability of the i7 and nehalem/westmere Xeons are a good bit faster.

Still, I’d go as modern as possible within the budget. Cores don’t matter much as minecraft is single threaded mostly. Haswell is the best middle ground between a good price and excellent performance, while also keeping power consumption at bay.

That’s all ancient hardware though and not really an upgrade. Might as well pop in a Phenom II X4 as they smoke the Core 2 Quads and won’t necessitate a board or PC swap.

I’d go for something like an Optiplex 3020. Haswell is much newer, faster and power efficient. They can be found with 8GB and a Core i5 for well under $200. Run the server off a cheap SSD and you’re set. The HP ProDesk 400 G1 and G2 also qualify and can be had for even less.

Xeons can be cheaper and often times they are better binned, plus the e/l/x54xx series has 12mb l3 cache ccompared to 8mb for q6x00 and 4mb for q8x00

Though i would have just shoved a q6600 in that system and bsel mod it, rather than having to do trial an error with setfsb, and at most youll prob get 2.8 or 2.9ghz with that cpu

though atleast you can just use throttlestop to undervolt the cpu for better efficiency, can also be done via physically voltmodding the cpu via the pads but thats troublesome, though i do have the datasheets for it, my datasheet is celeron 300 series ∆ or something like that, the volt mod tables are at page 16 or was it 18 xD

No and just get a core 2 cpu? They are like 5$-10$ for a similar performance one.

The advertised max turbo in the Intel specification only applies to a workload that only uses one core. All core is always much lower. Current generation i9 chips don't do 5.3GHz on all cores, more like 4.3-ish. The reasoning is part marketing, part technical (thermal contstraints and power limit).

It will only boost to 2.9GHz on a single core and if the BIOS can properly recognize the different P-states of the CPU.
All core of 2.4-ish is pretty typical I'd say. I'd think the laptop would melt if it would run 2.9 all core, lol.

Heck you can just go the shove the board on whatever carboard box thats the same size as the board route and have it sitting ontop of a cardboard box, a free "case"

Did this with all of my boards and works fine, just abit messy thats the only issue

Some ATX cases can fit eATX unofficially, like the Phanteks P300 series. Cable management becomes a bit trickier, bit it can be done.
As long as it's not XL-ATX (has extra PCIe slots so it's longer) it might work.

There are plenty of other cases that support eATX that are well under $999. Some under $99.

NelizMastr got a reaction from Tegneren in Windows old??
Windows.old contains a restore point for when you've updated to a new Windows version (i.e. the semi-annual updates like 20H2 for Windows 10).
If you delete it, you can't roll back to the older version. It should remain in place for 30 days and then be cleaned automatically.

Sorry, but it just is. It's not just FPS that decides which card is entry level and which is enthusiast class. The placement in the product stack also greatly decides which place it's meant to take.

But this thread isn't going anywhere. My point still stands that manufacturers of water blocks don't usually bother with midrange cards before the water blocks for the real high end cards have been developed, and if there is enough demand perhaps they'll consider midrange offerings. But considering how new the 3060 is, I'd say it's at least a few months away before you can find a water block for it and it'll likely be reference PCB first.

How come? If you're virtualising, the CPU doesn't matter anymore as you can't use quicksync in a VM. Everything becomes software rendered until you pass through a video card with the proper encoding and decoding hardware. That's why I use a Quadro P600 in an ubuntu server 20.04 VM for Plex. Does 4K H265 video quite well. The VM has 2 CPU cores assigned and rarely goes over 10%.

Sounds typical of that Intel LAN controller. They're very picky about their cables. The fact that it disconnects when you force gigabit speed says enough.
Either the cable is of too inferior quality (like a CCA cable, instead of a full copper cable) or there's something else about it that it doesn't like.

I've seen this a few times before, so that's why I'm mentioning it.

I wouldn't buy an Intel MacBook now, even if the price is tempting. The next version of macOS has a number of features that won't work on Intel processors since they utilise the Neural Engine. The M1 is also significantly faster than any Intel 13" machine you can buy from Apple.

As long as the software she needs runs on macOS Catalina, it should also work on Big Sur/Monterey and if it's still Intel only, it'll run in Rosetta just fine.
Battery life is significantly better on the M1 Macs as well. I'd go for the MacBook Air with 16GB RAM.
