NelizMastr got a reaction from otaku_weeb in beginner build
Something like this'll do. For 650 there is no room for a graphics card though, unless you go down to the bare minimum CPU and 8GB RAM.

NelizMastr reacted to Kilrah in 8th Igpu driver question
You can try but normally not, the installer would just see there is no matching hardware and refuse to install. There's a reason the drivers are different, it's because the hardware is different.
Might have more chance with a driver for the proper hardware but for newer Windows versions working with 8.1 anyway.
Alternatively, maybe SDIO might have something for you.

NelizMastr reacted to MultiGamerClub in (Solved) Nothing is showing on the monitor, old parts in a pc.
Hdmi.
Got it to work with sticks in a2 and a4.
Turns out the previous config file for the memory was set to 3000mhz and that's what cause it to fail in post 🙂
Its now working and it worked out in the end thanks to a more patient cousin trying to solve the issue with me 🙂

Nice clocks for sure. Shame it's a 4 core. That's the main issue with the 7700K right now.

So a texture that is a larger file size is suppose to load faster than a texture that is a smaller file size?

NelizMastr reacted to jde3 in Getting truenas on an Old Server
I'm going to say something here that is probably going to be highly contested but.. ECC makes no difference to ZFS.
An error in memory will cause all filesystems to write a bad block, not just ZFS.
That pretty much says it.. it's just a myth people repeat over and over.. "Oh ZFS takes extreme amount of ram and ECC!!!!"
.. not true. ZFS uses ram for performance, nothing more.
It was propagated by enterprise deployment guides at Sun and critics.. but you don't really need to worry about ram with ZFS. (unless you are trying to hit performance benchmarks or enterprise data integrity requirements)
If you are on cheep flaky hardware, ZFS is the best thing you could use. It goes far further ensuring the data is accurate than anything else.

NelizMastr got a reaction from aramini in Getting truenas on an Old Server
We’ll really need to know what model of server you bought. Could you tell us that, at least?
€100 is not a lot of money and buys you 4TB at best with no redundancy, if it accepts your drives at all (HP servers go to 100% fan speed without drives with supported temp sensors).

@besterino @NelizMastr
Worked like a charm. Installed a new USB drive inside and everything showed up as expected after install.
Thank you

NelizMastr got a reaction from aScoobyNooby in Ryzen 5 5600X Temperature
I agree with @xg32. I've run a 2700X, 3600X and 5600X on the same cooler I have now (Corsair H115i) and both the 2700X and 3600X were significantly hotter running chips than the 5600X, which makes sense as they are 105W, 95W and 65W TDP respectively.
Objectively, all stock coolers are junk, and especially the Wraith Stealth that the 5600X ships with. The Evo should fare much better. Also make sure you have sufficient airflow and don't try using a PC in a 40C ambient room 😛

NelizMastr reacted to xg32 in Ryzen 5 5600X Temperature
it's basically a max "safe" temp, short duration at 95C is fine, but you do not want to hit it when just playing games, check the mounting pressure on ur cooler and case airflow, the 5600x is not a hot chip.

NelizMastr reacted to jaslion in Gtx 570 Studio driver
Third option is a older version of photoshop as never versions cut off a lot of hardware.
-
NelizMastr got a reaction from jaslion in Gtx 570 Studio driver
The GTX570 is a Fermi card, for which driver compatibility was cut in 2018.
Studio drivers weren't a thing yet so Fermi never got any.
The latest driver is this one:
https://www.nvidia.co.uk/content/DriverDownload-March2009/confirmation.php?url=/Windows/391.35/391.35-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe&lang=uk&type=TITAN
If that driver doesn't work, you have two options:
- Disable GPU acceleration and forget those features.
- Replace the graphics card with a card that has at least a Maxwell core (GTX750/750Ti, GTX900 series).

Changed the board for something more compatible with Ryzen 5000. Same for RAM. These Crucial modules are super stable with the 5600X.

NelizMastr got a reaction from TetraSky in how to activate XMP with HP OMEN 25L
The memory does in fact run at 1333MHz, the rated speed is in MT/s, not MHz (Megatransfers). Because DDR memory can do two operations in a single clock cycle, it's referred to as Double Data Rate. The MHz/MT/s confusion is as old as DDR and never really went away.

27" 1080p will also be kinda blurry as the pixel density is crap. Either go lower screen size or higher resolution (4K is the next logical step). 1ms IPS is basically non-existent though, so you should probably let that one go.

NelizMastr reacted to Mister Woof in i7-7700k bottlenecking my 3080
Agree on all points, but want to add my 2c:
Right now I don't really have any recommendations for any Intel CPUs to pair with high end graphics cards.
If only the 10th gen had PCIE4 support, it would be easy to recommend the 10850k/10900k, but given they are not as often discounted now, and recent price reductions of the 5800x and the increased availability of the 5900X, I can't make that recommendation anymore. I won't mention 11th gen because overall it's a downgrade from 10th generation once you consider the memory and core latency issues it has.
If you're going for a high-end GPU today and want to pair it appropriately without considering upgrading when DDR5 systems launch in a year, then AMD is the way to go as it has a lead in IPC as well as good PCIE4 support.
Both of which will be useful once more powerful GPUs than the 3000/6000 series launch.
