What are you trying to do?

Did you literally add a USB HDD to a router? Did you enable file sharing services and a share to connect to?

What is port 444 supposed to do? That's a non-standard port and will not do anything unless it's specifically pointing to a service running on your network
that is configured to use that port.

Kind reminder, don't forward port 445 for SMB over the internet. Also don't use FTP without any encryption or an external IP whitelist. Ideally, use a VPN to connect to internal resources.

I have done a lot of raid on linux on the command line, so hopefully I can make this make sense.

Id go mdadm here, good raid 5, fairly easy to use.

I don't know of a gui for mdadm, but its fairly simple.

FIrst thing, find the disk names. Open a terminal and run lsblk to see you disks. They should have a name like sda, sdb, sdc and so on.

    Then run

sudo mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=5 --raid-devices=3 /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd Make sure to change the disks at the end of the command.

run lsblk again, you will now see a md0 device under all the hdds.

    Then reboot.

Then open the KDE partition manager, and you will see a new 20tb volume. You can format and mount it in the gui from there.

Yep. 512MB is below minimum requirements. The 660M should have 1-2GB actually. If it only has 512MB usable, I'm guessing faulty VRAM or a neutered card that is literally useless for any game after 2012 or so.

As safe as driving without a seatbelt. You might have an impact and die, you might not.

This. I'd go for the $3 a month Exchange Online plans with Microsoft, personally. Excellent service overall.

Webhosting with any cheapo hosting provider that fits your requirements. Still cheaper a month than running an FX system.

Self hosting e-mail will 90% guaranteed cause spam issues. Your ISP might not even allow you to run a server yourself.

Use standard services, self-hosting your website and email is probably a bad idea if you depend on it for your business, and/or are not really experienced in that sort of thing.

You don't, is the short version of it. iOS didn't have any 1st party file management until iOS 11 in 2017. Apple told you that you didn't need it so the only way to transfer files was through iTunes.

The longer version is finding an old version of FileBrowser (paid) that works on iOS 9 will allow you to browse the file system to some degree.

Older games are DX9 and 32-bit, yes. Current games are all at least DX10 and higher and pretty much all AAA titles are 64-bit. The Phenom will botlleneck the 580, for sure, but this is not how you can tell.

NelizMastr got a reaction from Needfuldoer in Synology 1813+ HDD Suggestions?
The compatibility isn't really that relevant. The drive will still work, but lack some specific features built into DSM. You're not likely to find any drives for sale that existed when your NAS was new. 2013 is a long time ago in tech. Just pop them in and click continue 🙂

You need to pull the metal clip backwards slightly and then outwards, it's designed to have a bit of mounting pressure.

NelizMastr got a reaction from Somerandomtechyboi in X58 differences between l, e, x, and w xeons
The letters are related to binning and power envelope. These chips were never intended for overclocking, so that is not a part of it.

    L - Low power operation
E - Efficiency oriented operation - 80W TDP or lower
    X - Performance oriented operation - 95+ TDP
W - Workstation single socket operation - similar to E/X series, but with only 1 QPI link.

The X chips have the best binning generally.

NelizMastr got a reaction from Electronics Wizardy in Need help to chose a server for virtualization
The DL380 Gen8 is a wonderful server for the money, now that they're being dumped left and right.

    Things to note:

    - You shouldn't need the FLOM card, the server has 4 ports on board already.
    - Each harddrive needs a caddy
    - Don't buy a single 146GB drive, get a cheap new SSD instead and run the rest on the SAS 10k disks

I'd go with the second configuration myself. The V2 Xeons are a better value buy than the power hungry 1st gen parts.

We still have a bunch of these in service running VMware ESXi 6.7 so if you're looking at that, you're good to go.
With a small workaround it will run 7.0 as well.

Agreed. The low wattage CPUs (Intel T series notably) are excellent for low power computing.

I built myself a 1.5U rack server with similar goals in mind.

    - i3 10100T
    - 16GB RAM
    - H510 ITX board
    - 1.5U rack mount case with 2 3,5" bays.

With modern CPUs allowing 16GB DIMMs no problem, you can easily get something very compact to a good amount of RAM, CPU and storage
in a very small form factor. I'd look for something Intel 8th gen or AMD Zen1 or newer.

The basic setup is as follows:

Leave the C60 as is - DHCP enabled, router mode.

WR845N - disable DHCP, enable Acess Point mode and connect the ethernet cable LAN to LAN. So from a LAN port of the C60 to a LAN port on the WR854N.
    Don't use the WAN port.

Don't build if your budget is that low. Nobody ever recommends building at this low end of a budget as you only end up getting cheap low quality parts whos only advantage is being new. Buy an already assembled used rig made with better parts.
