  1. hello my pc is not completely shutting down when I click shutdown. everything on the screen shut's down but the lights and fans and the keyboard & mouse don't I have to press and hold the power button down it started shortly after I changed out my dead (powers up but fails to boot failed bios chip I think) biostar z87 mobo out for a msi h81 p33 I think it started after a power outage but I am on a surge protector specs are i5 4440 msi h81 p33 evga 750w b2 super nova (on sale for $60 new at amazon msi gaming 280x 1tb white label drive from ebay 8gb crucial budget memory (2x 4gb) everything boots up & runs fine 38c on stock intel cooler
  2. there is no bios update for me I'm on the most recent bios I also forgot to mention I'm on windows 10
  3. every time I boot this pc up I am constantly getting 3 beeps and error code 4f when I look in the manual it says DXE IPL is started. I can get the pc to boot but unsure I googled it and can't seem to find anything usefull about my mb specifically most people are saying bios with asrock boards but they had outdated versioin's and upgrading to the new one had fixed it for them edit: forgot pc details biostar hi-fi z87x 3d mobo i5 4440 evga supernova 750 b2 msi r9 280x sata 3 1tb hdd sata 3 500gb hdd for os 2x 4gb crucial ram
  4. I know you said 1150 but there's a 1151 that looks Forrest green shown at ces maybe that would do also could do an all black board and green lights. at the end of the day if you have only the pci-e colored you wont see it anyways cause more than likely it will be covered up by the gpu unless it does crossfire and you dont then 1 will be seen
  5. single thread no amd can't hang with intel even oced but if you take a look at the 8320e for roughly $20 less than it's worth a look but I also say want to shed some $$ from intel and get better temps or just don't like the intel heat sink then look at a oem 4440 on super biiz for $170 then grab a cheap cooler if you don't have one already.
  6. pirating? stealing? wtf is this nonsense last time I checked a pirate was a person with a hook a eye patch and stank worser than a wet dog. Last I checked for stealing to be considered stealing to the eyes of lawmakers there has to be a physical product taken away. Also last I checked buying a product means buying something solid that can be touched. I CAN'T TOUCH 0'S AND 1'S but I can touch my computer, I can't touch a steam game with out a mouse and the mouse curser is 0's and 1's on a x and y plane that's not my hand attached to my body so I didn't buy nothing but air and that's free last I checked (takes a beathe) yep it still is so is downloading a bunch of 0's and 1's. btw this is meant to be a joke even though it's real claims only so much of it can be held up in court the only real way around it is to buy a physical copy that way you have the right to a digital copy at any time you want.
  7. not saying you're wrong with amd's performance just the amd build can be cheaper with a 8320e and a asrock 970m pro3 board right now but still wont make any difference
  8. honestly I don't blame you I was going to go the same route then last minute intel had a sale that beat amd att with the g3258 I think you can get into a 8320e build that will trade blows with an i5 setup for $600 then later pick up a cpu water cooling kit for $130 to maintain the oc i'll be back with a pc partpicker list for you to look at edit: I tried to stay within the $600 budget there might be a cheaper psu and better case but the evga 750w b2 I was going to use went off sale on amazon it was 56.99 PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD FX-8320E 3.2GHz 8-Core Processor ($121.99 @ NCIX US) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Directron) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($68.88 @ OutletPC) Memory: Crucial 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($18.99 @ Adorama) Memory: Crucial 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($18.99 @ Adorama) Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($44.98 @ OutletPC) Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 380 4GB PCS+ Video Card ($211.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: Rosewill Galaxy-02 ATX Mid Tower Case ($43.68 @ Newegg) Power Supply: SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($78.99 @ SuperBiiz) Total: $638.48 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-01-08 17:58 EST-0500
  9. I think he means how would he go about upgrading his hardware to keep windows 10 since there tied to the mb and well it's very hard i saw an article I'll look it up edit if this is what you meant then here it is credits to how to geek you should just be able to clean-install Windows 10 normally. Skip both prompts when you’re asked to enter a product key. After it installs, it will attempt to activate itself with Microsoft and won’t automatically activate. It will be considered non-genuine until you activate it. The activation screen will prompt you to purchase a new license from the Windows Store. According to Gabriel Aul, Vice President of Engineering for the Windows & Devices group at Microsoft, you can then contact support from within Windows 10, explain the situation, and they’ll activate Windows 10 for you: I hope this helps but with a mb change it always requires a fresh os install now cpu's only you might get away with it but you also might need to do a fresh install
  10. if your a fan of amd then look at 8320e there $130 on super biiz and get a 970 chipset motherboard that has vrm heat sinks like ASRock 970M PRO3 or GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P or ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 or GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P the asrock 970m is the only micro atx board and the ga 970a ud3p is the only one I saw that has a usb 3.0 header but others do list that they do now like everyone says if you want single core performance go z97 + g3258 or if you don't want to oc get a oem i5 4440 on super biiz for $170 + cheap cooler or for $180 you get a 4460 boxed that gives you a heat sink + any cheap 1150 socket using a h81/b81/b85/h97 like MSI H81M-P33 but just so you know only h97 are guranteed to work out of box with out a bios flash on devil canyon or broadwell so something like ASRock H97M ANNIVERSARY will be hassle free but cost more heck if you want check compatibility for xeon 1231 v3 down the road you will get a lower cloacked locked i7 quad core with hyper threading edit: figured id toss in look for xeon w3550 leenvo thinkstation s20 on ebay there about $200+ and you just need to toss a gpu+psu in most some needs hdd/ssd's + oses there triple channel so your options to get in cheap are 6gb or 12 gb ram but they can hold up to 24gb ddr3 ecc I believe
  11. I'll tell you a secret every intel die shrink makes it cooler than amd hehe get it cooler lol, seriously though, you are only 2 genarations behind skylake there's cpu's 5, 6 and even 7 genarations back that can still keep up with a 6500,6600,6600k cpu's as a whole you are not missing nothing "going newer" for a 10% boost in single core performance but a 30-45% boost in single core looks good at first but really it isn't when you spent $1000- $1500+ within the last 10 years. Ask you're self this when do you spend $26,000 for a new car every year, every 2 years, or every 10 years or do you upgrade or replace broken parts well in the computer market there's not buying a new mobo or cpu after 3 years max you have to look at new platform or used.same platform. The point the $100 saved can be used to buy some awesome games or a extra drive
  12. so you know that board runs quad channel memory and registered fully-buffered DIMM (FBD) DDR2 533/667 Mhz (only 1066-, or 1333-MHz ddr means double) memory (stacked or unstacked) and those pci e slots are PCI Express* x8 port edit:if you would still like a cheap 8 core cpu look up w3550 leenovo thinkstation s20 on ebay there quadcores with hyper threading and there overall scores are between a g3258 oced to 4.2~4.5ghz and a i5 4460 it's a tripple channel board and you will get either 6gb or 12gb minimum and it has a x16 slot also it's a lga 1366 board the first i7 socket
  13. sorry the tittle was the question I looked it up in device manager and I already had the update lol but I never did it windows update maybe? also I found "Intel® Xeon® processor E3 - 1200 v3/4th Gen Core processor PCI Express x16 Controller" too bad I can't do nothing with that though since I don't have a bios with the cpu micro code for xeon cpu's. I know some people have forced cpu micro code to bios before but I don't know how and feel it's not worth it
  14. I was looking on my motherboards website to see if they by any chance put a bios update for the 12xx v3 xeon cpus micro code nope there still being a prick. I then looked at the drivers and seen the chipset was updated from when I bought the motherboard don't they usually do chipset updates with the bios update my motherboard is a biostar hi-fi z87x 3d
  15. amazon us has the 8gb crucial blastix sport kit (2x4gb) 1600 mhz for 37.99 if it wasn't crucial I would say get a whole new kit but crucial is the only ram I trust enough to buy outside of kits or mix n match kits, their ram works with just about everything non ecc related
