  1. The first time support got noted about slowness was deskpad release in early 2021. Back then, it was one person doing support. Which they quickly doubled to two. Next bigger know hire was 2022 summer during screwdriver release. Again, highly anticipated and hyped product. So anytime someone comes in and complains about slow support, its usually linked to some bigger sales event. Be it product launch (stubby, one-off shirts, free world-wide shipping) or LMG event (LTX, The Drama). Here, @bloodknightoo, if I'm reading this correctly, submitted support ticket on Monday of this week. Reply coming in under 3 days stating that they are busy. Thats quick response when its not 20 people handling requests. Its very common for stores to have "we reply in 3-7 business days" or even up to 10 business days for smaller companies. This is something LTTStore should have too. The core of this is that term, business days. They don't work on weekends. Also the order where tickets are processed is almost always first come, first serve. The times where it isn't, is where its A) quick to do (gets done quickly), B) not very important (is pushed back). Additionally, them getting some proper system for handling tickets than pure one email will help on keeping things on track. I also would hope they have system where tickets get assigned per person and they can easily check which tickets don't have designated handler yet. That will also help to keep things in order and prevent situations where something goes unanswered for a longer time.
  2. After giveaway is done and prizes distributed, it's not on the organiser of giveaway. Not since it's sealed/new product. So it's same as if you got it from the store. It's still on manufacturer to honor warranty. Not store or the middleman. As for your example laws. The reason why your example doesn't work is because there's no damage done in legal eye. It's free entry. No money has exchanged hands. Manufacturer is still the one who should exercise good practice of covering all their retail items, regardless of how they exchange owners. In EU, warranty is for product, not buyer. So AMD refusing warranty would be illegal. The POO would be email notifying about winning the prize and shipping information on delivery. If no other documents are provided. So it's bad situation, but not illegal. In fact, if you Google some other Canadian giveaways, it's very often mentioned in T&C that there's no warranty given by organizer.
  3. Cost and space of 3D printer is one thing, electrical bill another and so on. Plus that they need to gain enough profit to make manufacturing costs worth it. So yes, you can easily do something yourself and for personal use. Like, I could do similar with wood, glue and magnets if I wanted. As I have been buying cheaper plastic and rubber things for years, then when adhesevies on those have failed, used glue, double sided tape and even screws to get results I want. So overall, price is not the point. If you don't like the price, you don't buy them. There are options, multiple of them.
  4. No, which leads to question, why post? If the response if criticism, defense towards all other parties etc. Only LMG staff can help. While this might be seen (and most certainly has been seen), its still iffy whether there's something they can do. Other than pay new card out of their own pocket. If AMD has made policy decision not to serve warranties to products that have been gain from non-retail sources (so from them directly or from some board partner, store etc. without there being proof of purhcase), then thats that. LMG can push AMD about such policy, but considering how big AMD is compared to influence of LMG even towards their more major sponsors like Asus, its doubtful anything will happen.
  5. -> Moved to Storage Devices I suggest you change title to something more descriptive. This is hardly newbie question as it taps to limitations of technology. I'm not quite sure how you have thought this through. Partition each drive to 2, have Vol0s in RAID0 for performance and Vol1s mirror of each other? Or each mirror for the RAID0? Latter AFAIK shouldn't work. Mirroring would need to have equal sized partitions on earth side, and in RAID0 it's seen as total capacity of the two. I guess you could have 2xRAID0s across two drives with software backup. But when the backup writing is in progress, that will have effect on performance. You are still limited to each drives max r/w speeds, regardless of how the setup is done. Someone else will correct me if that's not correctly thought.
  6. -> Moved to Off Topic While the premise here might be criticism towards LMG content, the core of discussion seems to be about cars.
  7. @ToXiiCxFusions, this thread has been moved to Off Topic. We allow external surveys only in Off Topic.
  8. I was hoping that this could get turn to more technical side. But as OP is unwilling to take that route, locked. Before I need to remove more.
  9. -> Moved to Off Topic While the video might be about technical side, the framing is social/policy thus not about technology. If the framing is changed to be about technology, this can be moved back.
  10. The price is on the high side, with taxes and shipping added. Which is why I hope they will have this on when I'm moving house in next 6 months as I cannot be assed to redo my cables before it. But without those expenses, its within reason if you look at other higher quality products. If one is using diy or cheap rubber/plastic, then one shouldn't bother with these. But if one is like me who has tired of the bad solutions and janky diy, then this is worth it. Though like I said in some other thread, for me none of the bundles is worth it as I don't see point of small arches and need 2 power bar sets.
  11. For power brick, have you tried using two arches, one above and one below? That's how both of my power bars are currently secured with zipties. Also, pictures would be nice with this kind of review.
  12. You get more accurate information about stuff like this from store support.
  13. Plastic is different. If you read my post, I did note that. To me they did look like powder coated steel, and materials aren't mentioned on product page either. So if the supplier is different from who makes screwdrivers, then its understandable. But then again, they have had time with these. They have all the equipment and enough knowledge from screwdrivers. So overall, its bummer they didn't include more color options from start. When they more than likely could have had.
  14. There's two sides of things. If you are doing color coating anyway, then it isn't more complex as process. Getting color correct maybe, but if its powder coat, then that argument loses some of its validity. For screwdriver, it was their 2nd more technical product and first where plastic/rubber was the main component. They had multiple colors with water bottles (aluminium) before that, so having colored products isn't a new thing overall. At this point, they also should know that having color variety is what people want. Even Noctua screwdriver go two version from start. E: Furthermore, Linus is among those who will bash manufacturers from not including color options.
  15. In perfect world, that might be the case. But already in my own use, I run cables across the house and often in visible spots. White cables (walls are white), so would prefer white cable ties. Now, you may say to use cable conduit. But if you are living on rentet apartment, anything that leaves permanent marks can be ticks off when moving out. So if I could do same with couple of cable ties, I would prefer it like that.
  16. I have to admit that I was pretty bummed to not see white option with these. Unless your setup is black, white does go better with natural colors such as wood.
  17. Or, think of it from another perspective. Having alternative app stores doesn't affect you in any way. You aren't forced to use it. You can still use you Apple branded stuff. Same with peripherals, I don't think there has been active call to make those work with other devices. Playstation brand peripherals don't work with Xbox either, and I don't see much crying over that. So I think you are confusing it there to lessen proprietary charging solutions. As in Apple being forced to make their products USB-C compatible. Which they already could do before that ruling, but decided not to. Their defense was cost effectiveness, to them as business and to customers who already have their chargers. But that defense kinda falls flat when they stop supplying chargers with devices and ask VERY high price for those chargers bought separately. So someone already in the ecosystem might benefit, but those coming in would have high entry in terms of fees. So Apple being asked to be more consumer friendly does not lessen your experience, but might enrich others. Which means, this kind of ideology is indeed "walled garden", but not in the way you see it. But as "we don't want those who aren't elite" way. Such gatekeeping is stupid imo. It wasn't the ideology Apple was founded by Steve's, its ideology of new generation of Apple bosses. If you think through things that Linus for example asks of Apple: Include chargers. If you insist of having proprietary connectors, this is must. If you agree of using USB-C, then you can skip. Have USB-C. Goes with above. They already can do it, but choose not to in order to generate more profits. There's no other valid reason. Touchscreen on Macbooks. This is ancient style of thinking used devices. And also, Apple wants more profits. They want to their users to have one of each. Phone, tablet and PC. Not giving all features that they could to those, forcing consumer to get the next or previous step to do something basic. Whereas they could take some professions by storm. Like adding convertible Macbook with touchscreen to semi-professional or freelancers working with photo/video field. Repairability. Apple is actively blocking 3rd party repairs. Their reasoning has been privacy and making sure products are within spec. This works as long as device has warranty. But after that, Apple can deny repairs as in their eyes, devices is EOL. Whereas 3rd party repair shops can keep them running for years on years. This essentially would lessen the profits for Apple. As the people who otherwise would need to buy new devices can go for repairs instead. Here I have real-life story. A person I know had to buy new iPhone after previous broke. I don't know what happened to it or whether it was under warranty or not. Repairs would have costed more than getting new device, when the repairs were done by licensed shop. Easier/cheaper upgrades. So this is addition to above, but mainly when it comes to Macbooks and Mac Pro's. The first config is already on high side in terms of pricing of some products. For example, storage and RAM are priced WAY beyond free markets and even competition (consoles and Dell/HP/Lenovo). Again, why is that? Some of that high price can be attributed to quality control. Apple wants to make sure these parts will work. But at some point, that just isn't going to be OK as reason. The high pricing has two other reasons. One, because they can. And two, because you have to do it in shop, you can't do it yourself. So they control things and you as consumer are at their mercy. Cooling. This is mostly about Mac Pro which is constantly noted to be really bad with cooling. Sinister side of me thinks its to bring in more repair and spares money to Apple. Since you can't improve things on your own, and having things run hot will shorten their lifespan. The luxury effect. This comes from cleaning cloths, unremovable cables etc. Which even Jonathan Horst, a Mac guy inside LMG, has given Apple note about. But its luxury decision. You want to show you have money? You buy expensive stuff just because its expensive, not because it would be better for something. I would bet that cleaning cloth I get with my Boss glasses for free works as well as something you have to BUY SEPARATELY from Apple. Those are just things I remember from LTT videos. Additionally, my gripe is that Apple wants to be included with the world, but doesn't want to do anything about it. So when the rest of the world is going for open-source in files and handling connectivity, Apple does their own thing. Meaning that when Apple user needs to interact with rest of the world, they expect others to bend to please their quirks. As in HEIC image format, non-compatible document formats, even PDF files that doesn't display correctly on Windows machines vs Apple.
  18. *** Thread cleaned *** If you can't keep it clean, don't bother posting.
  19. This used to be feature specifically mentioned. So unless something has changed, PC USBs are still 5V, 1A. Whereas fast chargers are 2.4A. Also, USB-C is connector type and doesn't tell anything about other features. Other than what kind of cable you can put to it. Manual for that mobo doesn't say anything special, so I'm assuming you aren't getting fast charging. What I suggest is to route charging cable from wall charger to where you want to charge the phone.
  20. All of those have been replied to, see: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1562779-weekly-sponsor-concerns-update-mar-15-2024 for SecretLab and Laifen https://linustechtips.com/topic/1563865-weekly-sponsor-concerns-update-mar-22-2024 for Copilot
  21. Ok. I was expecting something like Train Simulator with all the DLCs. Those sound more manageable. Best thing would be having Steam Cache setup with NAS and then have main with regular storage. But, lets explore your options if you want to go with one device setup here. Nothing. Its case like any other. Its made to hold components. With normal process, you have thought out what kind of thing you want, maybe have components you are using from previous builds. Then checking which cases work with those components. Here you seem to have gone other way around. Which is not bad, but also doesn't mean you are building for the case. You are still building for your needs, looking to get best possible combo out of money and components available. Consumer motherboards have 8 SATA6 ports, WS level will have more. But assuming you want Consumer, thats 8 ports + M2s and PCIes. So, if we look at this storage first style, here are what I would do: Get mobo with 1-2 M2 slots, couple of free PCIe slots and 8 SATA ports. For example this AsRock Z690 Steel Legend WiFi 6E/D5 Get big M2 SSD, 2Tb at minimum, 4Tb if pricing is good. That gives you room for awhile, even before you start populating SATA ports. Get 4-8Tb STA SSDs. For 8 ports and no other SATA data devices, you could go with max 32 Tb RAID0. Thats about half of what LTT did for their LTX Steam Cache server. If you need more over time, you can get SATA/SAS expansion card (with RAID support). That 6-8 additional ports. Adding more 8Tb drives, you can bump total to 50 Tb just with SATA drives. If you think this through, going with bigger drives saves you much of all things. Frustrations since point of failure are fewer. Money since 8Tb SSD is competitive prices vs 4x2Tb drives (here its €600 vs €740). And give you more storage. Even Linus has said in some of their server videos that they rather go with bigger capacity per drive as long as its worth it money-wise. How many new games you buy yearly? Assume every one of those is 150Gb added storage. To fill one your 2Tb boot drive, with assumption that Windows+other software is total 250Gb, you can have 11 games. All drives you can get to just mobo, with 2Tb drives, 53. With 8Tb drives, 213. If you get 10 new games every year, that would last 21 years. Thats 5 years of gaming per 8Tb drive. In the end, its your money and what you are doing. But going full blast right from start might not be best idea. The best thing with custom PC building is that you can easily change things and add more things. Like we don't know how storage pricing will change in upcoming years. LTT used 30Tb SSDs in their LTX Steam Cache machine and those were top of the line. They could be mainstream 3 years from now.
  22. Did they ask for a PC? You sound oppressive if you are the only one allowed to make choices, and bully if you would go around and deny them something. Are you their legal guardian? Are you the one paying for the internet? Those two are the only questions which determine if you have right to do anything here.
  23. I'm curious of what games would require that much of storage. Also, why go with 2Tb drives? Unless you already have them or got them cheap. From what I see, even on our pricing, getting 4Tb or 8Tb each will be cheaper overall. That said, your questions about this build are really vague. Like what kind of information are you after? Suggestions on motherboards that are capable on what you are asking for? Whether those mobo's fit in your case? Its really vague as you have only told price estimate, how much storage you want to start with and what case you are going with. The other infromation, like what games and what other parts are there or needed is missing.
  24. Geology and Mineralogy first. I had Lenovo Thinkpad T60 (don't really remember what it had inside, bought 2007) during that time, desktop was Q6600 + 8800GT. Land Survey Engineering after that during which I had Lenovo U41-70 (2015). Don't really remember what that was either, some i5 I think. Latter part was with Huawei Matebook P400 which I still have. But as that was during COVID, I didn't have need for laptop for studies. Desktop was running 4770K from 2013 with several GPUs. At work I have Intel 10th gen HP laptop. Which is probably at the end of its lifecycle. I think it might be from 2021 or 2019 even. It has hard time with some of the workload I do with ArcGIS Pro. E: I don't really get the question though. Unless you are required to do very heavy rendering and calculations while you are at campus, you don't need anything special. Just something to take notes with. Most of my notes have been handwritten. I had tablet with me for reading during the latter education. But otherwise I was using department or school PCs to do assignments. Especially during latter as most of the software are only on those. And after getting into any professional workplace, they have supplied me with standardized laptop and any peripherals I need. Like waiting on my new chair for the work atm.
  25. *** Thread locked *** This would count as "dream build" which aren't allowed here. And as you can see, replied are not really about PCs when you don't have limits to money.
