Just wanted to drop by and say I'm so sorry for the whole LMG team(s), I just happened to check YT as the first videos were going live and immediately I knew something was up.
This must have been terrifying seeing some nuckfuggets taking over your baby, everything you worked for. Jebus H Christ I can't even imagine how gut-wrenching that must have felt!

I hope there is no permanent damage or lasting effects, and I know the chances are slim but I hope the douche nozzles get caught or get owned themselves by someone else.
Take care and be safe to everyone at LMG.

Raijintek is a relatively popular brand in Asia and Europe (more so Easter Europe).

Their stuff is often fine some things are a bit meh but thats usually because its a very budget friendly option so yeah cant give everything there.

The only bad thing about this reservoir is that the rgb is a bit weak and you can see the individual leds

Euphoria reacted to HanZie82 in Logitech Lightspeed Peripherals - Would connecting the receivers with long USB ext. cables cause noticeable/significant latency issues?
    1. Nah, the transmission speed of power is about light-speed so no a little 5m cable wont change communication much.
Just the voltage drop, as that also happens on the signal lines, if the hardware is good enough its not a problem.
But ive had things not work with a 5m cable if the host is a low power device. (like portable devices).
For PC should be fine. As long as you use quality USB-hub.

    2. I don't know persé about 2 Lightspeed dongles. (Cant you connect both mouse and keyb to 1 dongle?) But I have 1 Lightspeed, 1 Bluetooth and a unifying receiver in close proximity, and the peripherals are about 1-2m away. Barely have issues.
(Only with Bluetooth and controller sometimes, but that also happens if no other wireless dongles are present.

And this, get a good cable.

Euphoria reacted to HanZie82 in Logitech Lightspeed Peripherals - Would connecting the receivers with long USB ext. cables cause noticeable/significant latency issues?
Also at those lengths the Voltage that comes out the PC wont be the same either. (I have regular sized cable 5m long, and 5,0V goes in and 4,3V comes out the other side. Due to cable resistance. Better cables have less resistance)

I'd highly suggest minimizing the amount of USB cable and use a HUB on the peripheral side.
If you also want comfortable speeds using USB sticks/HDDs use a high speed one.
    Just make sure its powered!

And no, as long as it gets enough power, and not to many USB-hubs in between, the latency will hardly change.

Maximum USB 2.0 cable length is 5 meters.
As it's a digital signal and your computer is polling once every 1ms in best case scenario, the length of the cable doesn't really matter that much, but nevertheless more than 5 meters can cause issues with how the data packets are sent over the usb cable.

A cable that has passed the Ultra High Speed certification and has a genuine holographic label on the package is a "true" UHS cable. Cables that do not have the certification are not true UHS cables. It's not based on length or passive/active.

i just looked this up -- they made the game actually *worse* with purposefully higher cpu usage etc...  this is exactly why updates being optional should be mandatory...!

However,  i found something  (i'll try to find the link in a sec) and yes, its true they *did* change this, but they also said they "don't plan to disallow downloading of old game versions at all" ... lol ... 👀

So tldr, it should work, unless the devs actually removed the files - which they may or may not be allowed to do legally,  i do find this malicious however - for obvious reasons...

ps: ive seen reports as far as going from 60fps to 8 fps at same settings lol...  and since i *know* updates can do that, i believe it (customer has no reason to lie about such things)

DepotDownloader is just a terminal program. On Windows, you have to open your command prompt and then run your commands. Something like "dotnet DepotDownloader.dll" followed by parameters. I installed it from the Arch repo on my system, so my command is slightly different from Windows, but it's the same concept. Something like "depotdownloader -app 1151640 -depot 1151641 -manifest 8564283306590138028 -username [your username]". If you're on Windows, you'll use "dotnet DepotDownloader.dll" insteal of "depotdownloader". For more info on the depot IDs and manifest IDs for Horizon Zero Dawn, there is this link: https://steamdb.info/app/1151640/depots/

However, it seems to just be downloading the latest version of the files listed in that particular manifest. Meaning it's the 1.11 version of those files. I can't get it to download older versions. It seems that the manifests themselves just point to some file names, but not to a specific version of those files. I don't see anyway to get a different version. Unless @Mark Kaineknows of a way to do it, I don't see how. So yeah, I'm also stuck on 1.11, even though I didn't have any problems getting DepotDownloader to work.

It's a shame. 1.11 completely borked foliage for me. Makes it feel like my eyes are being pulled out of their sockets. And I'm certainly not the only one complaining about it.

yeah... that guide isnt outdated,  its flat out wrong... i do have a proper guide saved somewhere but unfortunately i cant find it rn... i mean maybe its changed but i doubt it,  even in the comments someone points out the guide is wrong (in parts) so maybe you can figure it out through this.
The proper guide is far longer thats why i think its just wrong...

the "updated" guide is also a mess and i personally wouldn't use that depot downloader, that sounds *highly* sketchy

if i find the guide ill post the link, however pro tip for the future: always make backups in case an update messes with your skimpy mods creates issues I mean i have seen the HZD mods, theyre really good ; )

Regarding swapping headphones to that annoying spot of the PC 3.5mm, I can relate to that. To 'solve' that issue, I got an external dac/amp and it's no longer really much of a hassle to swap headphones as it's close to my mouse. I doubt there any other dac/amps with that amount of 3.5mm/6.35mm let alone some dac/amps doesn't even have a 3.5mm jack like my Fiio K5 Pro. It has only one 6.35mm jack and optical. But the sound is very nice and no reason to upgrade it slowly despites I've been on the path to get really great (and expensive) headphones.

But your issue can be solved tho as there are splitters. Like one plug and 2 or 3 jacks.

Euphoria got a reaction from LestatDK in FanControl, my take on a SpeedFan replacement
Firstly, massive thank you to @Rem0o Donation made, huge kudos dude.

I have used SpeedFan for as long as I can remember, only to discover SpeedFan doesn't work with my new system.
Your app is clean, easy to use, really nice controls, lite, and so far no major issues.

I have a couple questions if I may.
Fan Control when set to Start with Windows takes a long time to load. It's a new build with a fresh install, yet it takes 40-60 seconds after logging in for the app to run. I don't like having my pumps spinning at 100% so I wondered if anyone knows of a way to prioritise it so it loads faster?
Or is this normal and by design?
[Solved] Answered below by @Diffracted, there is a 30-second delay on start up.
I have an ASUS X570-E mobo, if I set Q-Fan to enabled in the BIOS so my pumps don't spin to 100% for more than a second or two, when Windows loads and Fan Control starts, the fans don't change, like the BIOS are still in control.
Is this normal? I didn't experience this with SpeedFan of other fan control software before.

Go in to task scheduler and change the settings in the trigger. It's most likely set up to delay start to not cause issues on startup.

Basically all of your concerns  - yes pretty much, hence I would (and did) go Nvidia.
And Nvidia drivers really aren't that great,  but its rather small issues,  at least they are (usually) stable.

Rt and dlss are great features but you aren't really missing out much either,  except i would argue dlss certainly helps longetivity.

This... depends on the games,  but I think generally its over exaggerated,  I don't really see a huge difference in vram usage at 4k , but again that obviously depends on the game.

The amd obviously has more ram, its biggest advantage...

In the end you have to decide,  ram, speed,  supposed reliability... also the price is also a factor,  common sense would say get the fastest card  with more vram end of story lol

Edit: wait, the 3080ti is faster? Didn't think so... Nvidia are so odd...

Then its still up to you, 6900xt, or 3080ti, both have advantages... do you really need the fastest card... or 4GB more? I think 12GB is good enough tbh.

On a side note, many peeps don't seem to realize that nVidia cards carry a pretty hefty price premium, in my neck of the woods, an RTX 3070 is usually about the same price as an RX 6800 (though many would compare the RTX 3070 to the RX 6700XT on an alleged 'tier' basis). Honestly, the RTX 3070 with just 8GB of VRAM is trounced by the RX 6800 16GB in non-RT game (that is, rasterized gaming if one doesn't care about DLSS and RT).

I have a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT and I game at 3840x1080 (32:9) and I can max out just about every AAA game I'd gotten - RE Village, Metro Exodus PC Enhanced, Gears of War series, COD Warzone, etc. With RE Village, even with RT and max ingame setting, I'd not needed to resort to FSR as my rig can still net about 90fps and higher.

As for drivers, nVidia's is a little more polished especially for newer architecture, but AMD had had some time to learn with the RX 5000 series, so the drivers for the RX 6000 series is better. Heck, when I had an RX 6800 in my rig, from the very first official AMD driver for it till now (for my RX 6900 XT), I've had only one game issue, that was with vanilla Metro Exodus (non-PC Enhanced) which crashed, I'd reported it as I'm sure others had and that issue was resolved a driver update (or two) later.

Now, I've had no issue except green checkered corruption when I play high res movies VLC player (corruption and stuttering back and forth after I'd fast forwarded or had jumped to a random scene with the cursor). This issue didn't exist previously, but it was broken from a few driver updates in the past, I've reported the bug to AMD already.

I have a ASUS Rog Strix 3080 and it is the coolest 30 series card I own.

With my stock i9 9900k it does 87fps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider with the highest preset.
My EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti only does the bench in 91fps with a 5800x so there is not much between the high end 3080 and a low end 3080 ti at 4k.

Horizon Zero Dawn at 4k ultra is:
    ROG Strix 3080 OC 80fps
    EVGA XC3 Ultra 83fps
Both my MSI Gaming X Trio 3090 and 3080 ti do the 4k bench at 89fps but they both use Intel 10 core CPUs.

I also have a heavily moded Skyrim and Fallout 4 and all frames are over 60 at 4k even with ENB and Reshade with over 250 mods installed on all my 30 series cards.

    As for vram.
I had no issues in the 10.5gb test I did with the 3080 but a budget 3080 ti may be better in the future.  The EVGA XC3 Ultra was only $50 US more than the ROG Strix 3080 OC.
