Upgrading the GPU will cause a BAD bottleneck? WTF...?

No, that CPU can handle a much more powerful GPU without introducing much of a CPU bottleneck.

Right now, between the CPU and GPU, the 5700XT is the "weaker" between the two.

Get a 7900XT / XTX even, and the 5800X will do fine.

I've got a system running a 5800X + RTX 3060Ti (got it during the peak of GPU shortage).

    I'll eventually get a RTX 4070 / 4070Ti or 4080 for it. 1440p resolution.

Well one of the users did state this (please do not harrass or go argue with this person please), which confused me as many other users stated otherwise (yes below is a screenshot, not an actual text)

Will getting a new high end gpu for this build cause any issues esp. bottlenecks (I meant the ones that give you a worst/noticeable performance not the "minor ones). On one of my prevous threads, it's been suggested that I get a new GPU to enhance my build and its performance (in games like arma 3, tarkov, and starfield) while some others say that upgrading only that will cause a bad bottleneck (not just a minor one) with the 5800x cpu.

Budget is under 500 dollars or less if I'm able to obtain it on cyber monday (not in too much of a rush right now)

The cpu upgrade is for mainly gaming. However its possible that any future CPU upgrade has little benefits with maybe an exception to the 5800x3d. Just want a cpu that performs good for the games below and good price perf ratio

Games that I want to perform better (performance with old cpu is good but I feel like I can push more better perf out of it with a better cpu)
-Tarkov (streets and lighthouse are known to tank fps)
    -Starfield
    -Arma 3

Hi!  Have you already solved the issue? I am having the same problem with my5700xt.

forgot to update this thread, it did it again a couple of weeks ago (after not doing it for many months). I just disabled hardware acceleration on all my applications and see if that fixed it. So will just have to wait and see

Also did a couple of stress tests that tested the cpu, ram, and GPU (and also the PSU) and nothing out of the ordinary

Stress test all the way. Furmark and its iteration is only good for that. If you need recommendation for benchmark, check 3DMark Time Spy and Unigine Superposition.

Ok so just run stress test at the gl msi-01 setting as shown in the screenshot? It also has a bunch of furmark stress test options too like furmark-donut or furmark msi

Just repeat it manually. Same with Time Spy. If you really need a looper then try MSI Kombustor.

I heard good things about kombustor. Might give it a shot later.

Also what does artifact scanning do? Is it necessary for my situation? Also should I run 1080p, or should I try for the more intense resolutions? Or I could just run each test after the other passes

Don't use Heaven for stress testing. It's a 14 year old benchmark that can't properly stress modern hardware. Go for Superposition or some other test made in more recent times, and mess around with settings. I've seen it before where cards will crash at low settings and will run fine at high and vice versa, so it's worth checking both.

unfortunately the stress test option is paid only...Will the game option work just fine even though the test are shorter?

Will try running at low settings preset and work from there probably. Thanks

actually running p95 + superposition would be pretty much max power usage  - but im not sure there's a point .

everything you said /showed pretty much hints at either gpu drivers or ram (i mean crashing in chrome, is pretty much a ram thing)

    full specs would also

but again it seems more like software/drivers or ram to me.

that means no overclocks whatsoever , no xmp, ram at default speeds.  if the issue still occurs run memtest 64.

if no errors,  try other ram anyway or try only 1 stick at a time and test each slot separately

I mean it crashed in firefox once after 2 months with hardware acceleration off. It even crashed on a fresh install, old GPU drivers or just using the windows one. I've also ran memtest already (just with 2 pieces of ram) and no errors.  I don't think removing ram would change anything tbh if 2 pieces of ram have no errors. However, will see if it occurs again

    edit: updated to include ram

3dmark run firestrike. p95 not sure but i would just leave it at default settings,  its pretty demanding with any setting tbh. also it tells you what the settings do, one is like max stress test so thats the most demanding.

Ran unigine and p95 (not at the same time ofc_ for 6-8 hours, no issues. Same for memtest. So IK its not the GPU, CPU, or RAM. Is there any way to stress test the PSU? I feel like if its already testing fine with unigine and p95, chances are its not the PSU
