It's a solid power supply even if you ever wanted to put in a GPU. It's a custom design from CWT and it's a major overhaul from the old, green ones which got a bad rep thanks to the internet's endless circlejerking.

yes, its a decent midrange unit. the cx with the grey labels are tier 3, while the old cx greens are tier 4/5, so make sure its the right one

As long as it's a gray CXM and not a green CX, you're good.

Honestly, for what you're describing, even a green CX is fine.

Yes, it's actually probably fine to get a CX430M if that suits your budget more.

If the Define Mini or Nanoxia DS4 (my own case) are in that price range then grab one of them since they actually do work for helping get your system quieter.

    Otherwise get the N200.

If you are going after a really fast M.2 drive I would get the 950 Pro from samsung as it will be much faster than the both of those ssd's.

    Hi there

The M.2, mSATA and 2.5" are form factors of a drive meaning the physical size and the way they connect to the motherboard. This form factor has nothing to do with the performance of the actual SSD as it may use the SATA controller or the PCIe controller, resulting in major performance differences.

I'd suggest to check if the drive you are looking at is a SATA drive or a PCIe NVMe drive and which type does your motherboard/computer support.

BigDay reacted to yippy3000 in m.2, mSATA, or 2.5" SSD Drives - Which Is The Fastest?
Quick recommendation: Don't get mSATA.  That connection format seems to have lost out to M.2 so I would expect that no new products will have it as they will all have M.2 instead.

M.2 slots can support one or both connection protocols of PCIe (NVMe) or SATA.  An NVMe SSD in a PCIe supported M.2 slot can be much faster than 2.5" SATA drives but most M.2 SSDs on the market now use the SATA connection protocol which means they are exactly the same speed as a 2.5" SATA drive.

In the specific case of the Samsung 850 M.2, it uses SATA over M.2 so will be EXACTLY the same speed as the 2.5" version.

could cheap out on a few parts, and i'd rather take a slower 240gb ssd over that 850 evo. but otherwise its fine.

i don't think this will work. the motherboard has no displayport. the monitor has the display port. this cable is meant for an hdmi input (monitor with an hdmi). the output (the motherboard) is hdmi.

i have never heard of hdmi to displayport. youd probably be better off just using dvi-d

HDMI ports do not have the ability to send DisplayPort signals, so passive adapters/cables will not work from an HDMI output to a DisplayPort monitor, this has been well-established. You will need a signal converter.

If you used DVI-D the picture would be exactly the same. If your monitor is not more than 1920×1080 at 144 Hz or 2560×1440 at 75 Hz, then it doesn't matter if you use DVI or something else. DVI also doesn't carry audio, if your monitor has built-in speakers and you are planning to use them.

Can you please double check that? Because I have tried it before with many different adapters, it does not work, and I get questions here all the time from people using this configuration confused about why they aren't getting a signal. In fact this is the reason almost every DisplayPort to HDMI cable, including the one you linked above, has a warning in the description stating that configuration will not work. Here is the one on the amazon page you linked:

It will work fine, there is no difference between them besides the physical shape. From the computer's point of view they are the same thing, so just a cable with a mDP connector on one end and a full DP on the other will be good to go.

Dirt cheap, outperforms stock, can't hear it outside of the case until it really starts cranking up. Got it on my i3-4150. My i3-6100 has a Cryorig C7, which I highly recommend as a stock replacement in such situations, but it costs roughly the same as a 212 EVO.

Really that's a personal preference thing.  They're both going over the sata3 interface so one isn't going to have a boost in performance.  The Samsung 951 ahci (nvme version is better but has more compatibility issues and a higher price than the ahci version) would be a performance increase as it is a pci express device that fits the m.2 socket.  The 2.5" drive is far less likely to have a compatibility issue than a m.2 device.  The manufacturer of the motherboard has a short list of compatible m.2 devices in most cases.

spoiler for irrelevant information to the Samsung 850's.  I don't like deleting something when I'm wrong, but it also shouldn't straight up be out there.
