260x-750TI
270(x)-760
280/285-960
280x-770
290(x)-970, 780, 780Ti
980 is slightly above 290x, about ~10-20% depending on resolution.
295x2- ~10% Better than a TitanX. 50% better than a 980.
For you, the only Nvidia upgrades would be a 970, 980, a TitanX, or a SLI config. (Oh and I guess the 780/780Ti, but I don't think you can find them new anymore.)
The most cost effective high end GPU solution you can get right now is a 290 Crossfire, which will perform on par with 980 SLI at 1440p and 4K for much less money.

Yup.
So I feel it'd be better to just order online?
However OP hasn't replied yet...

DryzonDigital reacted to Senzelian in Conflicted on parts
Why do you not simply get a different graphics card?
I know, the Windforce looks awesome, but instead of spending even more money on a new case, put the money into a new motherboard and CPU.
But if you have the money, then why not build a completly new rig? If you want to go that route, then I recommend an i5-4790k or similar.

DryzonDigital reacted to Peter Vaughan Truslow in More Cores & Lower Frequency VS Less Cores & Higher Frequency For RENDERING/VIDEO WORK/3D MODELLING
if you can, I'd go with the I7-5820k. that would give you the benifit of 6 cores without being prohibitively expensive.

DryzonDigital reacted to Mao_Zedong in $800 PC
I would spend a few dollars more to get this. The CPU is unlocked, though I took out the cooler. I replaced the motherboard with one I think is a slightly better value. I also replaced the PSU with a nicer one.

Go with i5 instead, more performance for less moneny (I assume it is for gaming)

more than i5 4460 is unnecessary, but yea its a good build, besides the cheapo Corsair PSU

DryzonDigital reacted to minibois in Just disassembled an old PC, look what I found
Expected you to find something really old, or an alive animal in a dirty PC.
disappointed.
It looks like an old CPU, but not sure which one.. The silver stuff looks like thermal paste to me and I think the small pads are for keeping the cooler 'away'

Oh, I didn't realise you edited. Then, yes, yes it is. If you have any extra money to spend, save up for an MSI X99 SLI Plus and a 5820k. That'd mean having to buy new RAM too. I'd recommend 16GB seeing as you are editing

DryzonDigital got a reaction from c0d0ps in Powerful Intel Rig [Beast]
I'm pretty sure I need a PSU upgrade if I were to buy a Titan X. Also, I think I was clear on the whole beast PC thing, i5 is great for gaming and shit but I edit a whole lot more than I game. So an 4690k is not going to cut it at all.

1. I meant to type 980s, my bad.
2. www.skroutz.gr is a great site for us Greeks. Visit vnp.gr and msystems.gr as well, they're all tech.
Meant to type 2x 980s, sorry.

DryzonDigital reacted to AliveGhost13 in Intel Rig | Thoughts?
Don't get the V300 SSD, it was subject to speed slowdowns due to dodgy NAND replacement antics. This may have been fixed, but be on the safe side and get a Crucial BX100 or MX100 instead

DryzonDigital reacted to GzeroD in Nvidia | AMD
I'd wait too see how the pricing is effected when the next gen AMD cards and the 980Ti drop and make a choice then. Assuming your r9 280 is still running strong I would just use it as a hold over until June/July.
How is the pricing on parts over there? I haven't tried helping pricing out a build in Greece for a while.
-
DryzonDigital reacted to Comessy in Poll! When people ask you how much they should spend on a custom build what price do you give them?
$800 is enough to max out 1080p imo
-
DryzonDigital reacted to GzeroD in Nvidia | AMD
Well I would go for the 970's in SLi a lot more power behind it; and there isn't much that a 980 will run that you wont get playable on the 970.
-
DryzonDigital reacted to Comessy in Nvidia | AMD
Well I know that :
290x = 970
280 = 960
and that's it
The Titan X and 980 destroy any single card AMD has right now
