When I booted this morning it went wrong again. I am not sure if it's the RAM that's wrong now. Although neither my original set, nor the second set are on the official supported list. The problem is that I do not own a set of RAM on that list to experiment with. I may be wrong, but doesn't the fact that 2 different sets of RAM display the exact same faulty behavior tell me that the problem doesn't have to do with the RAM?

Today I've installed a different set of RAM (2x4GB CMV4GX3M1A1333C9), and so far I've done 4 reboots. With the other RAM it would have gone wrong by now, but I'm not taking any chances. I am going to try it out for at least a week before I call the problem (and the thread) solved. I will update this thread with further developments.

Okay, i went in to the bios, turned off the xmp profile, then set the voltage, frequency, and timings according to your post earlier from the GeIL website. And out of the 3 times booting 2 we're bad. I will soon try a different set of RAM sticks. I will post my findings in this thread. So you can follow it if you wish.

Well by talking about the boot logo, i tried to say that the issue is apparent before even windows loads.

I have made 2 screenshots of my cpuz readings, one of them is with the (only) XMP profile enabled, and one without (as given in the window's title bar). I did not force the timings or voltage in the bios.

My PC boot problem The Problem About 75% of the time, when my PC boots, there is a problem. Everything is slow, all the animations stutter, the sound stutters, the mouse stutters and has tremendous lag, it's like the computer doesn't have enough processing power to even use windows. My SSD is the first device in the boot sequence, how did you fix it last time?

It could be, I have run my system non-overclocked for the past couple of days and the issue still occurs. I am planning on upgrading to windows 10 in July, and I don't really mind rebooting once per day for the next month only. However is there a chance this reoccur after the upgrade? If so what are fixes I can try? If anyone knows anything please reply.

Hi guys, I recently overclocked my i5-4690k, and I ran prime95 for a couple of hours, and there weren't any crashes and the temps were good. However, almost everyday, when I boot up my PC in the morning, my Windows startup sound stutters, and my entire PC lags afterwards. The odd thing is, that my temps are good, and my CPU and RAM usages are really low too. I have no idea what causes this. The fix that I found is just a reboot. When I reboot I'm good to go for the rest of the day. Does anyone have an idea what causes this? And how to fix it? Increase core voltage? Decrease core multiplier?

So I installed the windows 10 technical preview on a separate disk in my rig, tried it out and played around a little bit. I wasn't planning on using it but I just wanted to check it out and see it for myself. After an afternoon of using I got somewhat bored and switched back to Windows 7. I thought 'well, I won't need that drive anymore' so I formatted it and unplugged it from my rig. But now every time I boot I get a screen in which I can choose what OS to boot on. Of course the Windows 10 doesn't work, because it isn't there anymore. Of course this screen appearing on every boot isn't the end of the world, but after a while it gets very annoying. So does anyone know how I get rid of it? I'm guessing it has something to do with the boot sector, but honestly I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Hi everyone, I was planning on buying the Intel i5-4690k for my new gaming rig, along with a Noctua NH-D14 Air cooler. But after some research I read that the 4690k can get more than 75C on full load when using the stock cooler. And I don't have the space in my case for watercooling. My question is: Will it pay off to buy the k version? Or will the temperatures be so high that I will barely be able to overclock when using an air cooler? Keep in mind that I am not the richest guy on earth, and there is a price difference between the K version and the normal one, and a difference in price between H97 and Z97 motherboards.

Hi guys, I am building a new gaming rig, and I'm having a little trouble choosing the CPU. I want a 'Bang-for-the-Buck' CPU, preferably Intel (I know I shouldn't shop by brand but this is what I am comfortable with), for an 1150 socket. These are the parts I have selected so far. CPU: Intel i5-4460 GPU: ASUS GTX760 (DC2OC 2GBD5) RAM: 2x4GB DDR3-1600 CL11 from GeIL PSU: Chieftec IArena GPA-450B8 (450W) MOBO: gigabyte G1.sniper H6 And I already use a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD as a bootdrive. I've already got the GPU and the power supply installed in my current rig, so changing that is no real option. And I would like to be able to upgrade this system (one part at the time) in the future, so: 1. Should I get a K or X version of a CPU for overclocking in the future? 2. What model is recommended compared to my other components? Keep in mind that I am on a budget, and I'd like to stay close to the price of the i5-4460. - J0kador
