    Hi guys.

    shit its been a while.
  3. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=320-9800&cs=19&c=us&l=en&dgc=CJ&cid=24471&lid=566643&acd=10550055-3224826-3974-24530-nil-6-6-nil better deal. the one you have listed has a premium tag for the aesthetics. plus with the Dell you get a $100 gift card so you could technically purchase 2 for the price of the Asus you have listed
  4. the steambox includes windows 8.1 and an xbox controller. granted yours has more RAM
  5. So Dell is offering 2 different sales. one on the S2340L monitor for $170 with a $100 Dell gift card and the other is a lower tier Steambox, the Alienware Alpha, for $500 and a $50 gift card. so in theory you could buy the monitor and get a $100 gift card good for the Alpha and maybe you can convince a Dell rep to give you both discounts at once. worth a shot to save another $50 Goodluck $520 for a decent rig and a great screen? not too bad
  6. i turned off turbo. voltages stay under 1. and i have the NCASE M1 so thats not gonna fit nor do i really need a new cooler. thanks though
  7. wholeheartedly agree. i would just point to pump failure but i was seeing the same results with the stock heatsink so theres that... clock speeds dont mean better performance. its a pretty damn good CPU
  8. that was my next plan of attack. BIOS update. Im using the Impact VII.
  9. i dont have a laser sensor but i used a thermometer and it capped out at about 50c. so it could be hotter for all i know

  11. right but 20c over my avg of ~70c max is still only 90c. and my chip is maybe 5 months old. I doubt 120c+ is due to bad TIM
  12. Thats what im thinking. Is the sensor based off the chip or the socket? i cant remember
  13. but temps that high because of some bad TIM under the lid? i dont think its the AIO thats what i thought. maybe the bios is fucky. but i went in and reset everything and set all fans on max and still nothing. Its in the NCASE M1 so everything is packed in there and everything is always warm however the pump block is warm but i wouldnt say its crazy hot.
  14. but my temps were fine when i first got it. the one thing that scares me more than anything is taking a razor blade to a $350 investment
  15. ive tried that and havent necessarily heard anything but that doesnt explain why the stock heatsink doesnt fix the issue

  17. Hey guys. Its been awhile since i was last on here. So my i7 is crazy hot right now. I built the system a couple months ago and was seeing average temps running Aida64. Im cooling with an H220 and max i was seeing was about 67c. idling was around 22c. Totally normal Everything was fine then the other day i loaded up Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 (great game) and ended up overdrawing my UPS. Infact the UPS started the alarm, cut off power from the wall and i drained my backup battery. I plugged my desktop into the wall and started it back up and got a 'CPU overheat error' during post. got into windows and checked temps and they were at about 95c. now after browsing craigslist im at 115c. Obviously this must be a fluke For the record i chalked all the heat up to a potentially broken pump on my H220 so i swapped out thermal paste to see if MAYBE that was the issue. Reinstalled the cooler and nothing. still hot as hell. so i broke out the old stock heatsink. installed that and still hot as hell. So now i think its either a bust CPU or my probes are wonky. Any ideas? For the record, SGW2 was the first actually intensive game ive played on this build TL;DR CPU is crazy hot (120c max, program cant read any higher). used stock heatsink and H220 and changed thermal paste 3 times. no results.
  18. Did you get a tracking number? im still waiting on mine
  19. X99 is the platform. The socket is LGA 2011. X79 is also socket 2011
  20. I'm about to start my new build in the NCASE M1. i just bout my CPU yesterday and waiting for the new Impact VII to release. Anyways, my current storage solution is 1 SSD with windows and programs and then 1 TB WD Black with the bulk of everything. Whats the best way to backup the programs so I can wipe my SSD and reinstall windows (for the new Motherboard, OEM copy) and keep all the content on my Black without corruption? thanks, Fuzz
  21. Dell U2713HM. It has better preset colors than the Asus PB278Q
