  1. The end of the free world draws near. Our response to the destruction of rights will define us as a people, and I fear the definition will be underwhelming. Will we take up the crowbar and fight for our freedom, or will we give up freedom and live in tyranny. My word I sound like a hipster! Either way I think that the time has come for a movement to be started. The current political state of affairs is disgusting and we as a people need to fix it (not just Americans, the Internet). I'll end with a quote from John Perry Barlow, "Governments of the Industrial World, you weary giant of flesh and steel, I come from Cyberspace, the new home of Mind. On behalf of the future, I ask you of the past to leave us alone. You are not welcome among us. You have no sovereignty where we gather." Edit: I forgot to actually say anything about the article. The fact that he can't even tell us what they're doing with our email and information is terrifying. The loss of privacy is no longer the concern at hand; it's the loss of freedom of speech and freedom of press. Privacy is gone, the right to bear arms, the protection of unfair search and seizure, and freedom of speech are on their way out.
  2. Did you connect the controller to your phone for the PC input, or did you only do that for Android games?
  3. People saying I don't play video games because I don't like them; to me it's as offensive as saying I don't read because I don't like books. Extreme elitist culture is fairly annoying too. Beyond anything else though, is the application of the modern copyright/patent system, especially relating to the digital world. I'm aware these aren't memes or phrases, but I figure this thread is a good place to elaborate on common annoyances in life (relating to tech in some way or another). Edit: People trying to intimidate you by saying they (or their friend) is a hacker and will fuck up your [insert important part of modern technological life]. Really this goes for all people pretending to be what they aren't to impress or intimidate you; the only reason it really bothers me when it comes to people talking about hacking is that I know clearly they have no idea what their talking about (I'm not saying I do either).
  4. It would be fantastic, but I think that it might not be worth the trouble. I'll elaborate when I'm at my desctop.
  5. It's so fitting for some reason. Great job folding team!
  6. Thanks for adding a list of all the music, this really is a well done thread.
  7. I was correct, well, at least when I could hear any difference. (I don't mind about switching AAC and Vorbis).
  8. You should add Zune to the list of players and market places, as it's what I use to listen to most of my music (Bandicamp and Youtube should also be added).
  9. It would be because many digital distribution platforms use MP3 (at varying bit-rates) as apposed to Vorbis or AAC, and converting from an already lossy format to a different one loses more data than leaving it be.
  10. Okay for Wolf based on the info I have the 1 is AAC, 2 is OGG, and 3 is FLAC. I'll add more as I listen. Perfect World is a fantastic song isn't it? Edit: For Squid I've realized that there's a lot of interference going in my onboard sound so it's hard to distinguish what's what. Thanks to this thread I have to buy a nice sound card. Is this and Ika-Musume song per chance, possibly one of the endings? Also, is all your music from anime? I see D Rock City and Haruhi on there as well. Edit 2: In island I can't tell the difference much at all, the 2nd and the 3rd sound the best to me so I think I'll keep the same order I put for Wolf. Also since these are the top tiers of all these formats I think it would be cool to see if people can tell the difference in different bit rates of MP3, would you mind me making a thread like this one to test that?
  11. I've done these test's myself, in the past, but I've never tried AAC vs FLAC. I've always done MP3 at varying bit rates and I have always been 100% correct. Let's see how this goes. Edit: It says D Rock City is temporarily unavailable and it's the only one I recognized as having in my own library. It' much easier to tell the difference if you're familiar with how it sounds in one format or another. Edit 2: No matter what I click it tell me they are unavailable for download. What should I do? Edit 3: Wolf finally worked. I have the song on my phone as a FLAC file so I think I will be able to distinguish it. Also the 3rd one is the largest and thus is most likely the FLAC. Edit 4: You have good taste.
  12. I use a an incredibly crappy 26'' 1080p monitor with a TN panel. I am waiting to get a nice pre-callibrated IPS 1440p display until I've payed off my current computer.
  13. The APUs can utilize duel channel memory so it would be terrible for performance to only use one stick. Looks perfect.
  14. Agreed. At this point phones are so heavily integrated with other ecosystems that your OS choice on the phone would be based mostly on what services you use and what desktop OS you have.My Map: GNU/Linux users, and Windows users: Android is the common choice, as it allows excellent integration with; all Google's services, many other internet services, and user run services. Windows/Xbox/Zune users: WP8 is a legitimate choice, offering proper Zune integration, and Xbox integration. OSX/iTunes users: IOS is a good choice, it offers iTunes/Appstore integration that you just can't get come close to elsewhere. While the map only covers ecosystem integration (no hardware, software, legal customization, or expense), it's still very important to enjoying any device.
  15. This. It's just what AMD calls their CPUs with powerful onboard graphics solutions.
  16. The issue is that this is incorrect. Technically literate children will either find simple flaws in the system or they will break it themselves. Let's not even mention that this filter is going to block absolutely harmless info, and that having Google unindex erotic material would be like asking the Egyptians to take down the Pyramids (probably even more dramatic).
  17. I'd like to force everyone to listen to every song on my (insert music playing tool of the time) to realize how shitty a person I actually was so they won't have to be sad about my death. If I couldn't pull that of I'd like to have Gypsy Bard-By Griffilina. The song has an incredibly happy tune but these are the lyrics. I think it would have made me laugh if I had gone to my own funeral, and that's why I'd like it to be played. Lyrics: When you're rife with devastation There's a simple explanation: You're a toymaker's creation Trapped inside a crystal ball And whichever way he tilts it Know that we must be resilient We won't let them break our spirits As we sing [our] silly song When I was a little filly, a galloping blaze overtook my city So they shipped me off to the orphanage. Said, "ditch those roots if you wanna fit in" So I dug one thousand holes and cut a rug with orphan foals [Now] Memories are blurred, and their faces are obscured, but I still, know the words to this song When you've bungled all your bangles And your loved ones have been mangled Listen to the jingle jangle Of my gypsy tambourine 'Cause these chords are hypnotizing And the whole world's harmonizing So please children stop your crying And just sing along with me
  18. The drivers are still in beta; talk to me when they're finalized.
  19. I'd consider buying it if it were 300USD. I don't really NEED a terabyte of SSD storage; the only reason I would wanted would be for load times in games. If it were only double the price of an HDD of the same capacity I would buy it. The way I see it for anything more than three hundred I could be buying an Nvidia Shield which I really want, and having all this SSD storage, while it would be nice, is not as nice as a Shield would be.
  20. Soundtrack, more than half of what I listen to is from web/TVshows, and video games. I find that I enjoy music when I associate it with something other than sound.
  21. They might not be able to fix it; Nvidia has a hardware solution, but there's no way AMD can implement that in the 7950. For anything other than crossfire though, yes the 7950 is a good deal right now.
