US government shuts down after Congress fails to pass funding bill
codytappen replied to CyberneticTitan's topic in Tech News
I don't have the right to vote; you also can't just blame the voters because the parties are fighting, it's entirely to do with having split beliefs (in the people and representatives of those people). If we lived in a direct democracy you might be able to point the finger right at the people, but you have to consider that buffer of electorates that can never be perfect representatives of the people. -
Alittle story about myself and why i'm in America
codytappen replied to ShiverMePenguins's topic in Off Topic
If you're in a San Fransisco, a few other coastal cities, and the nicer wine country this is true. Unfortunately there's still quite a bit of racism/stereotyping in more rural or poorer areas (note:less than most places in the US, but still too much). -

EU wants every smartphone and tablet to charge by micro-USB
codytappen replied to bambamloly's topic in Tech News
Please no, anything but this no!!!!! For everyone who is saying they've never had a problem with micro USB you're incredibly gentle on electronics; the things break by the dozen and quickly the ports quickly begin to fail. -

Gabe Newell says Linux is the future of gaming
codytappen replied to threadysparrow's topic in Tech News
The issue that has to be overcome is market share; console developers just won't port to Linux because it costs more than it's worth. If Linux is able to garner a larger desktop market share then it will have no problem becoming the future of PC gaming (and the PC as a whole hopefully). The only reason I use Windows is because I can't get play all my games at a moments notice on it (well that, familiarity, driver support, and other software support). To reiterate, if Linux can get a larger market share all it's problems will be fixed, and I will jump ship (Windows). -
Before you ditch this thread you should make sure that both cards get adequate PCI-E bandwidth.

I use a 250GB Samsung 840 for my OS and all my applications; I have a secondary 1TB Barracuda to hold all my media (including my games, music, TV shows, movies, downloaded web content, and images), and I have a 1TB Western Digital My Passport (as featured in this former contest entry /watch?v=lDfVdrETFnc ) that I use to backup all my media. I use the 840 and Barracuda because they were very cheap at the time of buying and I didn't need top level SSD performance. I have the My Passport because I can't live without some kind of backup, plus I like taking my media with me everywhere.

Why do ppl say that the LOL community is the worst
codytappen replied to zerouplol12's topic in General Discussion
There is no barrier of entry so trolls and assholes have no fear of loss. They can't lose anything worth a damn by creating an account and loading up the game. They also don't need a decent PC to run the thing. It's also just got a bad rep. because of it's huge popularity, as the larger the community to more noticeable bad apples. -
Why do ppl say that the LOL community is the worst
codytappen replied to zerouplol12's topic in General Discussion
Well now yes, but in the first four years of TF2 there was a much better community. -
With that card I'd just wait for the new cards after the new consoles come out, but that's just me.

They're so different. It's hard to compare them as services... If you're talking about the livestream portions of both sites than Twitch is light-years ahead. YouTube allows you to (and is designed to help you) discover archived video, and Twitch is based around live streaming of video.

Here's my money, I've been asking you to take it for so long, and I'm glad you finally came around. -
Marking a solution could help others with the same question as you in the future without having to start their own thread. If you think someone answered your question, please, mark their post as the solution.

Okay. I'm looking at http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN32EH4003-32-inch-720p-Black/dp/B0078LSTWU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376759571&sr=8-1&keywords=32+inch+TV and the only thing I'm worried about is the sound system. I can deal with 720p, especially since most of the YouTube stuff I watch is 720p, and because it's supposed to have good color reproduction for the price.

I need to be running more because I've been steadily becoming more sedentary over the summer. When I'm not taking my dogs out I run on a treadmill, and my word it is boring. Holding my phone while running just hasn't been doing it for me so I've decided to buy a TV, mount it on the wall and connect a Chromecast to it. I'd like to get something fairly cheap; this isn't for all my content viewing; as such, I can't make an excuse to buy a really nice panel. I'm going to be 3-7 feet from the monitor so the size should probably not be too crazy, but not too small either. Other prerequisites are that it must be wall mountable (if it can come with a wall mounting system even better). If it is a better deal to buy a certain monitor and speakers I'd love to have links to both. I'll add a post soon with some of the TVs I'm considering.

Adding to my favorite quotes library, thank you very much Windspeed.

Do it. I'd like to see it be really tiny itx build with Aperture branding and Portal references, but obviously that's up to you.

I love my Half X; the airflow is fantastic, all the metal is beautifully powder coated black, the cable management is outstanding, the red accents contrast well with the black metal and matte black plastic, and the industrial design fits in well with many well built mechanical keyboards.

It's a good idea to mark one of the responses as an answer so people with a similar situation to you won't have to make a thread and wait for people to respond.
