  1. Hi all, So on the UK amazon, the M.2 and 2.5inch form of Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SATA are very similarly prices. M.2 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-250GB-850-EVO-SATA/dp/B00TGIVZTW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501015390&sr=8-1&keywords=Samsung+-+850+EVO+250GB+M.2-2280+Solid+State+Drive 2.5inch - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-inch-Solid-State-Drive/dp/B00P736UEU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501015494&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+250+850evo Which one would you go for?
  2. That is true. But I don't think that I'll be annoyed by 25db. To me it doesn't justify spending 40quid more.
  3. Yea what the hell is wrong with RAM prices. Also, it would seem that the 450W PSU would be at peak efficiency in my setup, though we are only talking about 4%: http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/sf-series-sf450-450-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-high-performance-sfx-psu And won't be too noisy either.
  4. Yea its kinda rubbish.. I'd argue 450W is enough for this build, or at least according to multiple PSU calculating websites. Then perhaps I should go for OEM then. Of course I would love to have faster ram and a 1070, but GBP1200 must include everything, including monitor. And the case wouldn't look good on my desk - it looks more like a home entertainment system. And its pretty big for an ITX.
  5. 54mm is the heat sink without the fan. Together they are 70mm. (Again, this is all according to the internet, as I don't have one.) But this makes sense as the Wraith Stealth is 54mm all together, and is shorter than the Spire. And yea, ATX would reduce free volume, cover the CPU fan, and make wire management a nightmare.
  6. Wraith Spire wouldn't fit with an ATX PSU in the SG13. There will not be enough clearance. (Or so the internet says...)
  7. I'll defo try the stock cooler first. Though I'll need the SFF psu to fit it into the SG13. And good point on photoshop/lightroom core usage, but the speed of image export / RAW to TIFF doesn't bother too much. And at that price, you cant beat the 6core 1600. Another option would be 1500x. I also want to support AMD for this build.
  8. Nice! But I need to fit a monitor and OS into <GBP1200. I also prefer the SG13
  9. Hi all, So I am planning on building a transportable ITX (Lan parties ftw). (If you are interested, part list is at the link at the bottom) The part I've researched the least is storage solution. I would like a small SSD for OS, and 2TB HDD for other crap. 1)So for the SSD I might go for the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, cuz thats the smallest they do and everyone seems to use Samsung. Are there any (cheaper) brands/ series that people recommend? I think 120GB would actually be enough. I got a bit overwhelmed on http://www.thessdreview.com/, reading about all the different technologies, NAND types, controllers etc. 2)For the HDD, I will go for the Seagate Firecuda, since it is apparently more 'reliable' than their barracuda range, which helps if I will be moving the rig occasionally. And other suggestions here? Thanks.
  10. Having a CPU as your profile picture means that you are subconsciously egocentric. Trust me I'm a doctor. Not.
  11. Good point. And yea, the Cryorig C7 was mentioned in many forums. But noise was a common complaint.
  12. With PSU converter SST-PP08, it lifts the PSU higher, which gives enough space for *I think* 72mm cooler.
  13. Thanks! I am avoiding AIO because of much needed VRM cooling. A bit of down draft is always nice.
  14. Here you go. Also, I am trying to avoid OEM Windows, as suggested by others.
  15. I've been wanting to build an ITX machine for gaming and photo editing. I won't be buying anything until the mining craze is gone, video cards are back in stock, and prices are reasonable. Budget is around 1,200 GBP. The part list below is over budget because I am a greedy bastard. I can't make my mind up on what to compromise on. And contrary to my previous opinions to others - No I will not skip meals, etc. I am a greedy hypocritical bastard. Lets see if you could do better Motherboard: Asrock AM4 ITX AB350 £113.62 CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600 £193.80 CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-L9x65 33.8 CFM £42.21 Fan: Noctua NF-F12 PWM £21.39 Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000MHz CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 £131.00 Storage: Seagate Firecuda 2TB 7200 £86.02 Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB £83.88 Video Card: RX580 gigabyte aorus 8gb £244.96 <- pre-mining craze price, me thinks. Case: Silverstone SUGO SG13B £40.80 PSU: Corsair SF450 SFF 450W £77.99 PSU Converter: SilverStone SST-PP08 SFX to ATX PSU Converter £7.64 OS: Windows 10 Home 32 bit/64 bit £75.00 Monitor: LG 23MP68VQ 23-Inch IPS 1080 £134.99 Total: £1,253.30
  16. 1) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 10/10 no doubt. Amazing gameplay, amazing story. (The only video game I cried in). I cannot praise it enough. You just HAVE to play it, or more like live it. The only thing that nagged me was the sometimes inaccurate and patronising military discussions/dialog. 2) Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2005) 10/10 for its time. Good range of race modes. Police chases were amazing. Everything was so immersive. It blew my mind when it came out. Bad thing is that going up the 'Blacklist' got a bit repetitive. 3) Age of Mythology (2002) 10/10, though I might be bias because it was the first RTS I really got into... most prefer AoE II I think. I loved ancient history/mythology and the way the mythical characters and creatures were put into one game was nothing short of the work of genius. They even included information on myths and historical characters. I can't get enough of the soundtrack - still listening to it today. The campaign did not feel repetitive at all, and you can tell a lot of effort was put into its design. Multiplayer is also heaps of fun. Downside is that I am crap at RTS 4) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas GTA:SA. 'Nuf said. The annoying missions were annoying though. 5) The Stanley Parable & The Beginner's Guide Grouped together because they are both quite short. If you haven't experienced them (that's right - 'played' isn't the right word here), go and get them. Bugs bugged me. Honourable mentions: Fallout 3, Kerbal Space Program, Halo CE, Portal 2.
