  1. what are the differences besides a higher clock speed?

Is it worth buying the ultra over the regular?

Can't I just overclock the regular to match the 1845Mhz of the ultra?

    Thank y'all in advance!

I mean it's up to you, but like I'd look at used 1080 tis as well.   The 2080 was always a bit better in dx11 games and those optimized more towards Nvidia.   Not sure about the differences in VR, though.   But, the whole point of the VII is a compute/gaming hybrid card that's basically a gimped MI50 Instinct accelerator card put out due to Navi not being ready at the time, and it came with some problems.   Some fixed, others not.   The fixes aren't that difficult, but my point is that it might be a slight project card for you and the stock cooler sounds like a 747 underload.  XD

word. Thank you for the info haha

If a loud cooler isn't your thing under load then the sweet sound of a 747 might be an insta turn off, depending on how long that VII has been sitting there you might be far more prone to black screens that is fixable with a bios update, stability and other things might require some tinkering like the infamous washer mod to undervolting, and fun fact the VII through drivers seems to really really hate flash based sites causing the driver to time out and crash your system.   The TDR registry value adjusment doesn't really fix the last one either.   Point is unless you really can deal with a potential project I'd avoid the card.   I mainly got one for blender usage, and the one I bought was by someone who already did the bios flash plus the washer mod.

Noted. Thank you! Sorry for your problems thus far. So even for just regular gaming, not reccomended either huh, even at the lower price?

I would upgrade the CPU because you'll get stuttering performance without enough threads in intensive games. 2070 Super is a pretty safe bet, if you don't have the cash to spare 2070 is $380-ish and a great card at that price.

Is the 2070 good for the forseeable future?

Well, that's the only Vega card that AMD considers Vega II, iirc.   At least it's the only one listed when I go to get my drivers.

Honestly, as a VII user I'd suggest going Nvidia for gaming and slight headache reasons that I could detail if you want.

Do tell. I am very much considering it if the price is $550

  6. Hello everyone!

I currently have a AMD R9 Fury X and it has been good to me for a long time, but as games get more intense and I am planning to buy a 1440p 144hz monitor, I wanted to ask what would be the best move for a new card, that will be the best at running low-mid (and rare, but some) high tier games at 130-150 fps avg for the present and into the future with also possible VR play soon.

My budget is 500-750$ usd, and I was looking at various card from 2070s 2080 2080s and the Vega II.

The vega wouldn't be on there, BUT it is 550$ on amazon right now, which is a lot less than msrp.

Thank you all in advance for suggestions!

    P.S. I have a i5-4690k with 16gb ddr3 :)

  7. So I have been an owner of the razer seiren for about 6 months now, and I've always had a problem of the little usb cord coming loose and cutting the connection for a microsecond. This causes me to have to unplug it again to unfreeze the mic, and in games like CS:GO it won't work in game again until I restart my game. Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried tape already.

  8. Ok, I got a new R9 390 (awesome), I thought the internet card plugged in my mobo would get in the way of the gpu, so I moved it down....and now it doesn't work. I then plugged it back into its original spot before that did indeed work and now that one does not work.

might be a dead PCIE port

  9. Sounds like you're in the friend zone. Better try to break out of it when you get her the camera :P

Also no problem with the recommendation lol, hopefully you can decide which one to get if you find other cameras!

hahah what about this camera http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Coolpix-Digital-Camera-Black/dp/B00THKEKEQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1451112270&sr=1-1&keywords=20+megapixel+camera

but if anything she is haha, anyway back to cameras

  10. So I want to buy a camera for a very special girl, because she's been talking about how she wants a good selfie camera. So what would be a good 1080p, 1440p, or 4k camera that I could get within a budget of $160 USD? I want to get her the best possible so any suggestions would be very much appreciated. : )

  11. If I win or had the money I would get my parents an amazon echo, as it seems like a pretty simple gift that everyone can enjoy around the house as it is marketed to be simple and fun to use. My mother has been wanting one ever since I showed her how cool it was, but I don't have the money to buy one for her as I am a poor student haha. I would get this for them to have something cool and modern to use as they are not techsaby and don't have very much electronics.

    So here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-SK705DI-Echo/dp/B00X4WHP5E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449204227&sr=8-1&keywords=amazon+echo

Good luck to everyone, and thanks for doing this give away Linus crew, Merry Christmas to you guys, and God bless!

  12. For my new computer I am building, I was wondering if a Corsair RM 650w would be able to power a GTX 970 MSI 4G, Intel i7 4790k and about 6 fans and potentially water cooling and an SSD and two WD HDD's??

A R9 390 would be better, and 650w would be plenty
