Unless something has changed recently, the fees are automatically charged at the end of the month, regardless of if the buyers pays them or not (could have always met up in person or smth) so unless either the buyer or seller actually completely cancel the transaction, eBay will charge them the 10% fee.

Yep, I mean if it does get cancelled afterwards, they will get refunded but how many people actually have $8000 on their debit/credit card limit? It could easily end up in a situation where it leads the seller to (massively) exceed their overdraft or negatively affecting their credit score. Of course, this is hypothetical but it could happen.

Where did I say that Amazon or Humble Store weren't trustworthy? But yeah, to some degree, there's no guarantee that either of those companies would properly evaluate apps, and I'm sure Apple would get flak if someone ever downloaded something bad from those stores.
Even the Google Play Store is a mess of trash apps with gross privacy issues (like a calculator app requiring full access), which do not occur on iOS, so it doesn't seem like it's an easy thing to do if even Google fails spectacularly at it.
Also, idk if trying to painting Amazon as a pillar of trust and morality is really a good argument point

XcodeGhost was a scam? I feel like if you can only bring up one example of something that's not even a scam, they're doing a pretty good job.
I don't think a single person in the tech industry would say that any system is impervious to security vulnerabilities, but hey, a centrally managed App Store does give a pretty straight forward resolution process in this specific instance. Imagine the shit show that would occur trying to solve this on Windows.

Why must R&D cost come from hardware sales alone? Why should a company pass all of the cost on to user's buying their hardware, and not make other companies that are trying to profit off their platform also contribute? Those companies benefit from both the hardware and software that Apple builds, so why should they only benefit from both, but only contribute to one?

People buy their devices for a variety of different reasons--them "just [working]" being one of them--and I honestly don't think you can deny that the App Store is definitively one of those things. Why else did Apple's platform grow so large, if one of the things that's existed from the start was so bad? If it's so bad, why do developers even want access to it, when supposedly there are better platforms out there anyway? Apple lets competitors on their platform because in some ways it is mutually beneficial for them, even if it's for a competing product.

If the argument is that Apple's control limits progress, why is there no "free market" alternative that's so good and enticing that everyone's moved to it?
I'll refer to the above about the R&D costs. I definitely agree that they can be, but I don't agree that they have to.  True, but I feel like Apple not charging for free apps is probably a good thing regardless? Devs already have to  Ehh, there's stuff from Jetbrains that you can use, but I think it still require Xcode, since that's the only way to get the closed-source stuff required to actually build/run the apps. I don't think there's particularly anything illegal/anti-competitive about not being OSS. Is that not exactly what the App Store is? Approval from Apple of apps made from other companies that Apple gets paid to certify? Plus Apple throws in distribution too etc? Those non-malicious apps would still have a set of rules that they would have to follow, so I don't see how it would be any different?  Heh, it's interesting because they released the whole "Sign in with Apple" stuff recently, I wonder if it's to combat this a bit. I think ultimately though, Apple doesn't particularly care if the off-platform experience is inhomogeneous--nor do I think they particularly should have to.  That's true, I think the fact that Apple offers competing services does muddy the water a bit. I think that's why they say the whole "We apply our rules equality to all apps," so that other companies can't claim Apple unduly targets them since they're a competitor.  Heh, I said this earlier but, retail markup on software is an insane 50%. Even Steam takes 25% (for what, a CDN and DRM?). Google takes 30% too, same as Apple. I agree though, maybe the times have changed and Google/Apple should look at cutting their take down a bit.

I mean they curve the wing tip so it reduces induced drag, which is caused by the reduction of wingtip vortices (kind of acts like a barrier between the high pressure on the lower surface and lower pressure on the upper surface), which increases efficiency

Yeah, slapping "gaijin tax" and import taxes means anywhere that's not Japan will result in domestic items to have a sharp increase in cost. Good thing I go back to Japan on a yearly (or 2-yearly) basis then, not that I usually buy manga as I don't read it .
Advantages of being half Japanese and having my "home-home" there. Father still lives in the same house I spent my first 5 years in, 20 years later so...

Mr.Meerkat got a reaction from Jstagzsr in too much power for my breaker box to handle?
Yeah, does sound like you're just asking a little too much from a single 15A or 20A circuit at 120VAC. An extension as suggested by @SuperCloneRanger is probably the best immediate solution as it will take load of that specific circuit. Do keep in mind that some devices (HDDs, some SSDs and others) do not like sudden power loss.

From my understanding, there used to be a copper shortage (long ago) so it made sense to have the ring circuit as it minimised copper usage. We still use the ring topology but also a breaker box alongside it. Typically 1 or 2 6A breaker is used for lights, 15/16A or 30A/32A breakers for the socket ring circuits (my house is 32A for kitchen sockets, 32A for upstairs sockets and 16A for downstairs sockets not in the kitchen) and there will typically also be breakers for things like: smoke/heat alarms, cooker (typical cookers in my part of the UK is gas hobs with electric ovens), fixed electric heaters (whether hot water or heating) ect. There is also RCDs protecting everything (basically GFCIs but trips at 30mA instead of 5mA) whilst fuses in plugs protects individual devices as 30/32A@240VAC takes a lot to trip after all.

I think the UPS is a red herring. OP said when the breaker tripped the UPS did what it was supposed to. I can't see why overloading a UPS would trip the breaker. I have no doubt he's right at the limit of maybe a little over the limit of the UPS. But you have to remember current is pulled, having a 1000w PSU does not mean he's pulling 1000w. also power systems don't instantly break when you reach their limit, overloads and current spikes are common and i'm sure the UPS designers made accommodations for them in their design.

@Jstagzsr While i do believe you are at the limits of what your UPS can handle(and if you are able you should replace it with something more suitable), i don't think it's a danger to your PC or is what caused you issue. I have to agree with @Mr.Meerkat i think it was a simple overload, it's nothing to worry about, that's what the protection devices are for. all that equipment(as well as anything else on it) was just too much for the 15-20A circuit to handle.

The most immediate solution is to run one of the computer setups(not just the tower, we're trying to split the load) from a separate circuit with an extension. but having a new circuit installed or extending a less crowded circuit to one of the computer setups is advisable.

This is only my opinion, I'm also not an electrician(i'm an electrical engineering student). Having rewired my house i am very familiar with the uk electrical code.

adds new wall of text. lol. We still have breaker boxes(consumer units) that do the same things, overload, short circuit, earth leakage. and We can run sockets in a line, its called a radial circuit. We also have the best plug design.

Then assuming 15A@120V, that gives you a capacity of 1800 watts or 2400 watts at 20A (assuming a PF of 1). That sounds extremely low...even the fuses in our plugs (13A, effectively works out to 13A per socket max) gives you 3120watts before it blows itself. Is that 15/20A per socket? If not, it takes almost nothing to trip the breaker...

Fun fact, mainland Europe is 220V and the UK is 240V. This means 230VAC only exists so people knows it works for both within the UK and mainland Europe

What is the current rating on the breaker for the circuit supplying sockets? Chances are, it's completely fine. Here in the UK, the usual breaker used for the circuit feeding mains power is 32 amps, which at 240V mains equates to 7200watts. Plenty of capacity

Looks like the payload-range diagram for the A321NEO/LR and not the A321XLR, which has a MTOW of 100/101 tonnes. Current A321LR with 3 aux tanks may not be able to make it but the XLR will carry enough extra fuel to have sufficient range to do so

Wrong ocean lol...it effectively has the same capacity as a 757-200 whilst having a higher "claimed range". Perfect for the North Atlantic but not quite enough for the pacific ocean. Also, don't forget routes like NA to SA and routes like Hawaii to east coast. Great for direct flights between two medium/smaller airports, where the demand is there but not enough to fill a 787/A330

As for pricing, it's pretty fair. In general, the parts are about £0-6 more than me ordering it online by myself whilst the labour cost seems fair. I guess that's what happens when you average 40 miles/day...and I've owned the car for a little over 2 years.
