  2. Yesterday I did a full-service cleaning to my watercooling loop, and it went rather well.

The monoblock was easy to dismantle and clean, but the GPU waterblock required me to break out the heat gun to remove the otherwise nice-looking metal accent piece that held the RGB strip.

Both blocks were pretty gross to say the least. I didn't take any pictures because I didn't think to take any. Reassembly went smoothly, except for the EK-Quantum Torque Drain Valve, which was leaking. I was hoping to install a drain valve, but looks like I'll get a ball valve instead in the future.

The loop is now clean, and it looks great.

  3. I'm going to be putting in about 2 litres of Mayhems X1 UV Blue premix coolant, so I should be a-okay on that part.
  4. Hello So I'm going to be adding another Hardware Labs Black Ice SR2 480 MP radiator into my system. I already have one aforementioned radiator for about a year or two now, and a 240mm version of that one. But there's a problem. When I went to fill the watercooling loop, I had a bad case of what I think has to be a chemical reaction with the EK-CryoFuel clear coolant. As in all of my clear tubing is clouded, and all of my waterblocks need to be fully dismantled for manual cleaning, fittings cleaned up, as well as replacement of all the tubing. I rinsed out the 240mm radiator with tap water and left it to dry out before installation, but didn't do anything to the existing 480mm radiator (to reiterate, I had this 480mm radiator in continuous use for a while now). I suspect that the 240mm radiator is the one to fault for this (supposed) chemical reaction. So my plan is to clean all of my existing radiators with a chemical solution. Right now the one that's at the forefront of my mind is Mayhems Blitz Part One. But here in the United States, it's $15.99. What are the alternatives that can get me similar results as that radiator cleaning solution?
  5. Tried to play the TBC Classic game, only to have my computer shut down on me enough times to cause my 2TB drive to become corrupted to the point that it needs to be secure erased. AFAIK the games that were on that drive may not be saved, yet I'm backing them up just in case they all do work.

It makes me really upset because it was functioning without any apparent problems until today 😞

I do plan on that. The case I have my eyes on is the Lian Li PC-V3000+. As Lian Li hasn't released any further details I'm sure it'll launch as late as Q4 2021.
  7. So I got an email about a day or so ago from Performance PCs, and they told me that Hardware Labs, my preferred brand/company for radiators for my water-cooled PC, won't be able to ship out their next batch until the end of May.

And if they did do that, Performance PCs won't be getting any stock from them until some time in June.

Feels bad man. I want to add another 480mm Hardware Labs Black Ice SR2 MP to max out my Corsair 900D 😭

I also got everything else, a day late from the scheduled delivery date from FedEx e7432700100cf0f778bfbaf364947b91.png

But also I forgot to get extra fittings, and I had to buy a replacement bottle of EK-Cryofuel Concentrate because I misplaced the other one I had on hand like an idiot.

Things like this happen, and it sucks. You might want to get a new case, the 900D is old, and might not be the best case to show off your watercooling loop.

  8. I'm getting a monoblock for my motherboard, as well as a 240mm HW Labs SR2 MP radiator.

The 480mm radiator version has been out of stock for a long time. Don't know when it'll be back in stock, but when it is, I am snapping one up before it inevitably goes out of stock again.

  9. I'm sorting through my 3TB and 8TB hard drives. The 8TB drive will become my archive drive.

My folder structure is absolutely fucked 😭😂

Like I really need to get better at not making so many duplicates and not structuring them properly.

  10. Got my 1TB WD_BLACK SN850 just now. And I modified the size of the thermal pads to cover only the SanDisk G2 controllers. The NAND flash chips, from what I read, wants to be hot for endurance reasons.

I don't think I'd have modified them. They're designed the way they are for a reason.

Seeing this stuff really makes me want to build a new PC 😛

  11. Got one of my M.2 SSDs installed. It's frickin' fast 🤯

  12. Can we all agree that, as @RILEYISMYNAME and others have graciously pointed out, that James O'Keefe manipulates footage such that it misrepresents what the subjects actually said to fit his narrative. Also the various violations of standard journalistic ethics and practises (that a quick Wikipedia read quickly uncovers) only serves to discredit whatever he presents. Especially the lying part. Once the journalist is exposed for a lie they utter in their presentation, any person (with even half a brain) would not trust that journalist anymore than a liar or criminal. I entertained the idea of buying 4 Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SATA SSDs, but I think I made a smart choice of going with M.2 drives instead.

A pair of WD_BLACK SN850 M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs for my system. Time to get on with the times, and relegate my big-ass 8TB spinner as an archive drive, and my 480GB SATA drive as a scratch disk lol. One is 1TB, and the other is 2TB.

Apparently my parents get money for us but I don't get any of it.

Going to my college fund, which I like, but I wish I could get maybe $50 of it.

  16. I remember back in 2016, was where I purchased the first set of components for my X99 system that would become my first build. Then in 2017, was when I made the jump from the EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB FTW to the Asus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB ROG Strix OC, which still stands as one of the best upgrades I ever made. All but the EVGA graphics card were purchased at the San Diego location. I also bought storage drives there as well. The 480GB PNY CS1311 SSD, 3TB WD Red (2016), and 8TB Toshiba HDD (~2019) I run were all purchased there. The last few times I went to a Fry's Electronics store personally, I knew that the writing was on the wall, based on the vast empty shelves and lack of visitors at the two stores I visited the most. My parents shopped there as well for their PC needs, and the last time my mother visited one, she decided to call it quits for shopping there too. Too bad they went under. I can only believe they made some really awful business decisions that led to this bankrupcy, and that's not even considering last year, which only made matters worse. What I also believe was that they tried to diversify too much (stocking non-PC or electronics items -- the likes of which you would normally find at a Target), rather than keeping a narrow focus on consumer electronics. Additionally, they weren't really stocking enough high-end PC hardware from brands that were strongly in demand, especially the watercooling hardware (like who wants to buy Thermaltake watercooling hardware when EKWB, Bitspower, and the like were more in-demand and often made better-quality components?). The most expensive motherboard I ever purchased was the Asus ROG Rampage V Edition 10, and Fry's did not have that motherboard at all. That was an online purchase. Like what Linus said about NCIX, I do think Fry's should have scaled their storefronts back, got rid of their general goods selection (I still think this is the worst decision period) as well as their automotive electronics, stopped the internet pricing campaign (online sales really are hurting walk-in retail stores' revenue), started to stock actually good and in-demand PC hardware and other consumer electronics, among other decisions to bring the focus back onto consumer electronics for the home, and come up with a few things that no other retailer could have come up with so that they (business owners) can sell the brand. The themed storefronts were cool for their time, but they ended up becoming too much of a gimmick IMO, and all of the space could have been used for warehousing for a shipping network for smaller-scale storefronts.

  19. My first time ever running a 3DMark benchmark was back in 2015 😮

    1124769004_firstbenchmarks.thumb.png.72515b1afbab18e63232e99af745ff3e.png

And my most recent benchmark I added was Port Royal. I'm getting some good scores with a single GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and my AMD Ryzen 9 3900X.

    464938899_PortRoyalbenchmarks.thumb.png.865ff49af75ec61e502b99efa241df6b.png

These were the overclock settings I used to achieve the highest score. The lowest score was without the GPU being overclocked, and both the CPU and GPU were running in Auto mode. My RAM settings were set to the XMP profile of 3,200 MHz, CAS 14-16-16-36, 1.35V

    • MSI Afterburner
      • Power Limit: 112% (100%)
      • Temp Limit 88º C (84º C)
      • Core Clock: +245 MHz (Maximum recorded in GPUZ was 2,070 MHz, Average running frequency in Port Royal is 1,988 MHz (based on most recent submission))
      • Memory Clock: +500 MHz (1,875 MHz QDR = 7,500 MHz running)
      • Voltage: 100%
    • Ryzen Master
      • Manual Overclock mode
      • CCD 0 and CCD 1 clock frequency: 4,200 MHz (all-core overclock)
      • Core voltage: 1.3V
      • Note that these values are fixed, and it disables idle frequencies and voltages.

  20. I was kind of hoping to purchase a used EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB Black, along with an Nvidia GeForce RTX NVLink 2 Bridge (3-slot), as well as the same watercooling components currently on my first 2080 Ti...

But nooooooo, the cards are over USD $600+, and the NVLink 2 Bridges are double the MSRP 😡
